the k-1 max is the division that buakaw fights. you have to weigh exactly 70 kilograms or less to fight in the max. their weigh ins are usually one or two days before though so most of the fighters drop down from around 80 kgs. buakaw however weighed only 64 when he began fighting for k-1. so when you watch the finals from 2004 when he outshines jwp and almost kills both kohirumaki and masato he is actually about 10 kgs lighter than all the other fighters.

Not that i'm a fan of Anderson silva and i'm also kinda new to the UFC, but Silva who is a respected UFC fighter would win from Buakaw. Simply because he has the height. U have to remember that Buakaw is only 1.74m or so while Silva is 1.88m.

Also in the UFC they have more freedom (with the grappling/wrestling part) to fight, while in the K1 MAX it's kinda limited.

Still, I think Buakaw is a wonderful fighter, he truly is a master of his style and always puts up a great show.

I don't say you are a good fighter only with boxing, but western boxing is essential in the arm range fight. Anr remember boxing was not always with 2 weapons. Western Boxing there is less movement of the feet and more with the head, this dangerous for the boxer as high kicks against good head movement doesn't mix. Also low kicks will dominate the boxer if doesn't move his feet - Muay Thai requires more moving of the feet, this is dangerous for the MT artist as excessive footwork without much head movement against heavy punches will get you knocked down. Remember in arm range in MT you can use elbows so don't say its invincible LOL.

LucasCG13 indeed the word invincible was a little overstated. I meaned that the boxer has the advandage when the fight goes in the arm range. Elbows are good and powerful but a punch is more faster and practical than the elbow. The attack with the fist come naturaly in the human being , because it is much more practical than other forms of attack.

The elbow makes the most practical sense as a striking weapon. The fist can break easily if not held properly, the elbow on the other hand is a more solid blade like bone, i have never heard of or read about someone breaking their elbow while striking with it during a fight.

With the fist you have to hit in a certain way to do damage. If you hit the top of the head, shoulder, etc. a punch wil cause little damage. An elbow will cause damage anywhere it lands.

The elbow is also very good , I use both but I prefer te fist as my primary weapon.
