Let me ask you a question though, what is wrong with people worshiping their god in the privacy of their own home? Why the need for all this mainstream religion? My whole family is catholic and my ideals are not because of biased against religion it is based on my perceptions and observations. Political parties do the same thing also, it is about dividing people and especially keeping people too tied up to realize what is going on.
Those who would not kill for fear of god are very few and far between, not to mention if you take into account all the murders of the world that were for religious purposes including the inquisition it would totally negate all the good that was in the name of religion. The ideal that all people are equal really isnt a religious principle it is common sense and decency.

How do we know religion has not had a restraining effect on violent urges that are simply part of human nature?
Some do not kill for fear of God. Others have freed slaves out of religious convictions about the equality of all men.
