  • A lot of Irish people listening to this TRIPE tend to be lower class and full of Anglophobia. Oh, they don't know what that word mean yet they know how to practise it. And they don't even know Protestants were very rebel. Catholics were all informers. Wolfetone, James Connolly, Robert Emmet etc. were not even Catholics yet they gave their lives for us all - and that includes the type of people who listen to this type of "music". No wonder I'm a lapsed Catholic!

  • great

  • The language of the Celts is called Gaelic...not 'Irish'. =)

  • @ThisWickedBullShit depends very much on speaking. Gaelic in Scotland is the national language in Ireland is the Irish and Welsh in Wales is in the same way that the Isle of Man Manx is the local language.

  • @ThisWickedBullShit no its not! there is no language called Gaelic!! there is scots gaelic, irish, welsh, manx... These are the languages of the Gaelic people.

  • @ThisWickedBullShit I think there have been enough replies, but I just can't help it: here goes mine... There is not ONE language for all the Celts, there are many of them, and the correct word for the Gaelic from Ireland is Irish, as the Scottish language is also Gaelic (and is called Scottish). Besides, there is another branch of Celtic languages which are not Gaelic, I don't remember its name right now... AND the Celtic languages of the past, from which current Irish, Scottish etc stemmed

  • Go hiontach ar fad. An ceol ar mo chroí ♣ ♥

  • My Grandpa used to play music like this for me. I love it.

  • One word: exquisite.

All European countries have something that sets them apart from the others and when it comes to Ireland it's music.

The Irish have brought forth the best musicians and singers this world has ever seen and undoubtedly they will continue to do so in the future.

  • Heres to that. top stuff.

  • Next life I want to be Irish...

  • Can't beat the fella on the spoon.

  • I'd fancy a Guinness, my Irish friends :)

    Grts from Belgium!

    Awesome music btw!

  • I'm Irish! from An Gaeltacht can anyone speak Irish? I have to study it as a language :(

  • @MaidinRealta conás atá tú that might not give much help :(

  • @MaidinRealta No, but I can say 'hello'. :)

  • @MaidinRealta I can speak a little Irish, was studying it also, though was a while ago as I'm now 23

  • @MaidinRealta unfortunately good irish buddy, i can only speak a few words, and i do know a few sites where u can learn it and get lessons like worksheets and stuff for free, if that helps u any

  • @MaidinRealta Tá Gaeilge agam!

  • @MaidinRealta I'm trying to learn Irish, but it's really difficult (so many different dialects) and I'm so easily distracted and just plain lazy! I wish there was a pill that people could take and then wake up the next day, perfectly fluent in the language of their choice. The fact I have a learning disability obviously doesn't help, either. Btw, I noticed the "frown" at the end of your comment--Irish is a noble, beautiful language. Please don't feel put-out b/c you have to learn it. :-)

  • @irishpride527 I accept your opinions. I myself play Irish traditional music and do not think Irish is stupid or bad in any perspective! But in my eyes regardless of the fact that Irish is dying out or not I think Irish should not compulsory but optional in schools. Just because one lives in Ireland does not mean they have to be smothered with tests upon tests of the exasperating and difficult language. Irish is extremely tough!

  • @MaidinRealta Granted. As I mentioned, I have my own difficulties with Irish, so I can certainly understand your feelings about it. And I think you're right -- it should be an elective course, like foreign languages are in most American high schools. At any rate, learning a new language should be interesting and enjoyable, like a hobby, not a tiresome chore. I don't understand why schools don't take that approach with their teaching methods. Hang in there, and good luck with your studies!

  • The bloke nearest us playing flute is Mike McGoldrick

The woman sat next to him on whistle is Grace Kelly

    Two of Manchester's finest musicians
