Religion is based on the principle that believing a thing makes it so. "This is true because we believe it". It's the polar opposite of science whose goal is say "we believe this because it's true". And of course science requires evidence -- objective, verifiable evidence is preferred. Of course there are no such constraints on religion. No only is evidence not required in religion, if it exists it can be disregarded or denied in favor of compulsory superstition.
@arcvar59 This isn't about whether or not I'm smarter than some sort of divine authority, this is about putting together a puzzle where the shapes never fit together to begin with. Everyone's method of belief is different in some form, and to say that any one denomination has the sole truth is misleading.
@arcvar59 If your lord is so smart, why does he design things so crappy or useless in the human body? If we are supposed to be made in his imagine, he must have some serious problems too.
Brother please research Islam. If you have common wisdom or common sense then you will convert to Islam. A very highly and true religion of the oneness of God which has been extremely misconceived. Read the Quron, dont listen to the media. Readddd and judge for urself.
@BlueMoon858 I don't have any problem with people of faith; it's those who take their beliefs to extremes and inflict harm on their fellow human beings, and that applies to anyone, including people without faith or belief.
@BlueMoon858 Thats a nice invite but if you were asking me i would shy away only cuz of your stance against every other religion on the planet sooooooo yeah.....
@spain214 Appreciate the sentiments, but I'd rather take responsibility for my own actions and live my life the best way I can with the time I'm given.
@arcvar59 I'm stating my views based on experiences I've had attending church and others who've attended church. But by your logic, you need a higher authority to designate what is right and what is wrong for you, instead of researching and arriving at those conclusions on your own. It's not a "revelation," it's giving a justified explanation.
@arcvar59 The culmination of mankind's knowledge and wisdom has enabled you to comment on this video. Just because some people act foolishly doesn't mean that the human race as a whole does. And I've found some rather trivial and foolish passages in the Old Testament that Christians by and by ignore because they are archaic (mandate to keep a beard, not eating shellfish or wearing clothing made up of two or more fabrics, etc.).
Educate yourself well, do all the research that is needed to disbelieve anything at all.. and you will have no reason to believe what your mind that's only using 10% is even capable of.
@ohsnapsattack1 What does my view on religion have to do with not being able to utilize the full potential of my mind? A person doesn't need superior intellect to see when the pieces of a puzzle do not form a clear picture. My remarks were not just about Mormonism, but my previous faith as well. The basis for science and technology is reliable evidence; without testible and verifiable evidence, the basis of our modern day civilization would be impossible.
@halo3forlyfe I love this shirt! The only one I love more than this is my Somewhere Back in Time Tour shirt, which I wore at the concert at Concord, CA. My Number of the Beast shirt is AWOL somewhere in Norfolk...
I like your video man. I totally agree with your views of how people have lost the message. I personally respect the judeo-christian ethic, and the teachings of muhammad, and the eastern philosophies, but I believe that organize religion has tainted these beliefs, to make lite of atrocities that have happened throughout time. Kudos to you man for being brave enough to face the masses and tell your story. Good stuff. And the more vids you make, the better you'll get at it. ;-)
@zoefreak95 I appreciate your compliments and your viewership! I hope what I've said encourages others out there to open up about their faith, or non-belief for the other agnostics and atheists out there. It can be intimidating, especially for those with religious parents.
@TheShoguneagle it is very intimidating. my wife is an ex mormon as well, and her entire family is mormon, give or take a few, and it was very hard for her to tell them she never believed in it. but we all know how the, family does it, so you better do it as well goes. But keep doing what your doing man, it will reap great benefits in the long run,....
@MrTragicDragon I grew up in the congregation of the church in my hometown; my mother and grandmother were both tithe-paying members. Long story short, significant changes in the family ultimately led to my mother's disfellowship with the church and was a catalyst in the fallout of my faith. I go into more detail about it in one of my videos, RE - About the Mockers of Christ and Christianity.
@meoff66 It still amazes how much my former religion fears sexuality, and yet reduces the role of women to pleasing their husbands/bearing children/being subservient wives.
i like your views........ but your pauses get really wierd and annoying.... trust me, i know, i do the same thing if i havent rehersed anything about my speeches nothing against you..... just a suggestion
@BBbitsy I agree. This is something I'm striving to work on (or at least have some notes as a minimum). These are generally unrehearsed. I appreciate your views and especially your feedback.
I agree with your views, but your presentation skills leave a lot to be desired. Perhaps you could write a script for yourself, so there won't be so much stammering and pregnant pauses. Maybe rehearse what you are going to say, a couple of times before recording it.
@Stormspeace You are correct. I definitely need to improve my overall presentation in my videos. I'm still a newbie when it comes to video editing, so maybe something along the lines you've suggested would work. Thanks for the suggestion!
Its interesting that you mentioned scientology. You'd be very surprised to know how many scientologists are ex-mormons (including the head of the church of scientology international, Heber Jentsch). Mormonism is a 19th century version of scientology. Space alien spirits, space opera, interplanetary travel, the list goes on and on. It wouldn't surprise me if L Ron got some of his ideas from mormonism (amongst many other things).
@metrx330 Scientology does have that New Age feel to it, empowering people that they are in control of their own destinies if they comfort to a certain regiment. Mormonism certainly has that aspect, and I think you are correct that Hubbard may have drawn some inspiration from that.
