watched this a few days ago (sat). it was joanna who played maria that day. it was awesome! totally. breathtaking everything joanna performs. good actress and good singer. :]

applause for efforts which are nonetheless sincerely felt! the genius of a menchu yulo. karylle did surprisingly well for the doomed maria. gian is way in the comfort zone, along with anita and bernardo. true, the boy christian remained a theater boy, but let us go gentle on him (even if he were the one placed on top of the bill). the cast members need to LET GO and just LIVE in the dance!

Christian doesn't have an alternate. Gian Magdangal, who plays Riff, is his cover in the event Christian gets sick during the run.

i think this would be the 3rd staging of this classic in manila? i recall the second one was weak (what more with the very demanding choreography) and the actor who played tony was oh so lame (he was that bad i couldn't recall him anymore). i only remembered the character anita which was excellently played by the genuine bombshell isay alvarez!!
