  • "I'm not worthy!"

  • amazing video!!!

  • Awesome bass lines and grandiose arrangements!

  • buffalo 66!

  • *BOWING DOWN!*

  • and YET imagine.there are legions of devoted worshipers(blind as WELL as deaf) that believe with deep conviction that Rush is the greatest band in the world AND of all time ( and these are actual QUOTES).LOL.IMAGINE?beyond belief! That Geddy the Tucan has the greatest voice in music and that peart is( and i quote) the greatest drummer in the world and a "god"!NOexagerations! And think that REAL bands like YES,GENESIS,PFM etc are NO comparison to this boring"all girl trio"that is so LAME.

  • @TheNucleusAlbum1968, Actually both bands are great in their own right. I am a big fan of both of them.

  • 1 quest : who play drums in heart of the sunrise - yessongs ?

  • Wakeman is so much better then this other guy... :(

  • @supergeek48 yes but tony kaye wrote " yours is no disgrace " and thats enough for me

  • is this jon anderson???

  • Chris Squire and Bill Bruford are MOTHERFUCKERS

  • Man.....this is so very excellent. It sounds great....but even better is seeing all of these guys playing together....and loving it.

  • Jon Anderson (Vocals)

    Bill Bruford (Drums)

    Steve Howe (Guitars)

    Tony Kaye (Keyboards)

    Trevor Rabin (Guitars)

    Chris Squire (Bass)

    Rick Wakeman (Keyboards)

    Alan White (Drums)

At the same fucking time? holy fucking shit.... soo unnecessary

  • @tiberiplaysguitar i think it's cool because this is yes with 2 faces. personaly i like old yes more 71 - 72 lineup and '71 yes album - '77 going for the one era

  • @tiberiplaysguitar but great fun! :-)

  • @tiberiplaysguitar Prog rock is the music of excess. :P

  • This instrumental was used to fantastic effect in Buffalo 66' I've just come from watching that movie.

  • its good to hear bruford doing his version on drums because alan whites fuckin sucks really bad white is kinda half ass in my opinion

  • @pryt86

    Shhh!

We all know Alan cant play it, but we arent supposed to say it out loud!

  • @lifeseeker1 lol oops

  • @lifeseeker1 Fucksake - Alan White quite obviously CAN play!

  • @kettlezone

I'm addicted to off beats & having a musician challenge my expectations.

Yessongs was my 1st Yes album, absolutely loved it !

I then bought the studio versions.

Each bar in the opening of Heats of The Sunrise is different, Starship trooper/Your Is No Disgrace, had so many patterns.

Then I hear South Side of the Sky & was blown away!

Then I learned it was a different drummer !

Personally, I like Alan White, his drumming is competent, but not unique.

Listen to Bruford in 'A Venture'.

  • @lifeseeker1 I love Bruford's drumming, but to say that Alan White can't play is a bit much - he was a top session drummer before Yes, and learned the Yes live set in a few days! Have you heard White on 'Gates Of Delirium'? Not many repeated patterns on that track! Some musicians would find Bruford a bit of a 'busy' drummer to play with - some musicians prefer a 'clean' drummer, who nails the groove to the floor. Bruford is a jazzer, while White is a rock drummer - he quite clearly CAN play. :-)

  • @kettlezone

When I bought YESSHOWS & heard the live version of The Gates Of Delirum, I was impressed.

But for me it's also the tones the musicians chooses,

in ABWH's Birthright or Brother Of Mine, the tones of the drums called attention, as well as the playing.

Without being identified, I can distinguish Lenny White, Buddy Rich, Max Roach, Bill Ward or Nick Mason.

Nothing about most of Alan's work stands out, I like the guy, but, well, I'll leave it at that.

  • @lifeseeker1 So you're still saying that "Alan can't play"? Wow!

Bruford sounds better on an acoustic kit, btw! ;-)

  • @kettlezone

Nope, I ain't gonna take the bait & bad mouth Alan.

He is a competent drummer. Period.

    .

Ah em, now if I ware to say Phil Collins stands out in carpet Crawlers, Bill Ward in War Pigs, & John Bohnam in Stairway, Black-Dog, Rock & Roll or Kashmir,

I would only be commenting on their 'INVENTIVE' choice as musicians to play songs a certain way.

But, Alan is cool, I would never try to replace him with a drum machine,

the stage would look so empty.

  • @lifeseeker1 But you're not going to badmouth him, right? You're just saying that he's only there to fill a space on the stage where a drum machine would sit? I see.

  • @kettlezone

It would have been a very nice drum machine.

    Top of the line!

  • @pryt86 ...blah, blah, in my opinion, blah, blah, blah. You know what your opinion is worth...squat.

  • that's a lot of mammer-jammers on one stage

  • paradiddle diddle paradiddle diddle for the first 3 beats (RLRRLL RLRRLL) with Right hand on the ride and left on snare followed by 3 beats of straight 16th notes (RLRL RLRL RLRL) still right on ride and left on snare and then repeat repeat. I got the fast part but haven't learned all of the little variations of the slower part yet..

Check out Wrecked01's drum cover. He kills it

  • or it starts on hi-hats with right then eventually moves over to ride

  • you're doing it wrong bro

  • awesome band! Editing is quite awesome too!

  • Squire ,Bruford!!!!!Wakeman!!!!

  • HOWE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Okay...I cried a little bit while watching this...I just really wish I had caught the tour.

  • Bruford is a monster on drums...He's a Micheal Giles diciple on speed.

  • Bassist extrordinare. Chris Squire is the best there ever was and ever will be. Simply.

  • Man Chris is a big dude, I think I could park my car in one of his sneakers, just looks like a real nice guy

  • Oh i know, I'm sayin the 70's version is one of my favorite songs of all time.. while this 90's fart is well.... better left undiscussed.

  • Think of it this way, it is extraordinarily rare to find a group who sounds exactly as they do in the studio during a live concert, plus many musicians like to play with and add to songs when they play live. Escpecially after 20+ years in this videos case, which is now in the 3rd decade since it's original release. Foreigner sounds just like their albums, but I swear they sound TOO much like their studio recordings! (Lip Sync?!)

  • best bass solo ever imo

  • Chris Squire is a GOD!

  • AMEN!!!

  • This is very unfortunate.. looks like the 80's hit even the best where it hurts.... love the cheese synth, i think its the glow in the dark canned cheese plug in.. followed by the electronic drums.. lovely what else can i say.. mix in that touch of stadium rock / hair metal disease that was going around......

and i like the original so darn much...this just sounds like it could be a theme to Leathal Weapon 1. or other late 80's early 90's action flick.

shucks. i say, "no" ....terrible pun..

  • Phrige....FYI, this song debuted in 1972. '80s music wanted to sound like Yes, not the other way around.

  • alan white sucks! bill bruford 4 life

  • Bruford rocks, but don't put down White! Why do you think they kept him all these years, if he sucked?

  • cool

  • I have the dvd

  • wow, this is like the DELTA FORCE of rock music......just from em' in sit back and let them kick ass............!!

    FUCK YEAH! YES!

  • Awesome.

  • is that partick morantz?

  • No, Rick Wakeman and Tony Kaye

  • One bass player!

  • semplicemente divini..........

  • Prog for the win

  • Comment removed

  • Buffalo 66

  • i really love this song! fantastic melodic riffs and memorable sections!

    truely a great band

  • idiot

  • I agree!!! One the THE BEST BANDS OF ALL TIME. These people were MUSICIASNS! They could play instruments and reinvent them!!! MOST bands today not not even REAL MUSICIANS!! P.S. EVERYONE I know can Rap!! Very few actually play an instrument, or can really sing!!!!

  • the point for me of this whole tour was to have Bruford on board because now you can hear the early Yes songs the way it should be played

  • I saw this show (well not THIS one but in Seattle) in the front row. It was absolutely amazing! Thanks for posting!

  • One of the greatest bands in music history .... enough said ...

  • Bruford is stealing the show hands down( if you get my drift ! )

  • THE YES ORCHESTRA

bruford, howe and wakeman are better than white, rabin and kaye

  • Hey there, dont bag on white!

  • shit that such fricking awesome bass line by Chris squire. this is one of Yes's best songs.

  • Bruford is fucking awesome!

  • Trevor rabin is a decent player but he isnt a pimple on the skinny ass of steve howe~!

    Steve howe is god~!

  • i found this tour funny becauase trevor and that other keyboard dude have nothing on rick and steve.

  • Amazing music, Squire is the best!!!

  • the best part is what Bruford does at 2:20 into the song. i can watch his tap-tappity-tap-tappity-tap stuff all day long.

  • you sure thats bruford

  • no doubt it's bruford...

  • I'm so glad they do this every time I see them live!!

  • Chris squire is a fucking badass!

  • FUCKIN OATH!

  • look how much fun they're having!

  • what kind of guitar is that?

    the acoustic lookin one

  • The ES175?

  • Horrible keyboard and drum sounds

  • i know

bill bruford kicks this guys ass

  • If you haven't noticed, both Bruford and White are up there.

  • and if you havent noticed bruford is doing a far better job

  • If both drummers were playing there own thing it would sound awful and jumbled up. I'm sure white already knew he wasnt to play anything special you know.

  • I don't know how someone can say that YES sucks live...

  • rabin is a idiot

Steve howe is the best guitarrist on the world

  • nice^^

  • gloggolit:

"heart of the sunrise" est dans l'album "Fragile"

    YeS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Which albun was Heart of the Sunrise on?

  • Fragile

  • Hmmmm...must be Italian!

  • It would look great in the window!

  • Yeah, mind power, Swede; mind power.

  • What is a lamp, you nincompoop? It's a Major Award. I won it!

  • Chris Squire is definitely a top ten bassist, up there with Geddy Lee, Entwhistle, Greg Lake, and so on.

  • Awesome performance

Whose that one guy on the keys? the one that's not Rick Wakeman.

  • I'm sure you can read

  • Woah, I didn't even notice that.

  • That would be Tony Kaye. Original keyboard player.

  • the intro of the original version with bruford on drums is unbelieveble!

  • Bruford is simply one of the Greats.

  • I play bass guitar, too...

  • I'm sorry, though I love Chris Squire's playing, but he surely can't give John Entwistle a run for his money, no-one can...

  • i'll give u 2. john patitucci and mark king both of whom i'd take over entwhistle in a second, and i'm a bass player.

  • Coke head Entwistle, a hack alive, is now pushing up straws from the grave.

He can't give anyone a bass run for the money.

  • You are kidding me right? Some people, I swear...

  • For 2 keyboardists, 2 drummers, and 2 guitarists to sound this tight together on stage simultaneously with no slop and not much time to rehearse is really phenomenal. But then, this is YES!

  • Absolutely fabulous!!!

  • Bill Bruford did the drumming on all Yes almbums until the Yessongs tour of 1973.

  • ...when he found that joining up with Fripp, Cross, Wetton, and Muir would turn out to be a more fulfilling proposition for him at the time.

Bill's own words: "I left Yes at the peak of their popularity, because I felt that gig was getting stale."

  • He also joined Genesis for the "Wind and Wuthering" tour. Worked nicely with PC.

  • Actually, it was the Trick of a Tail ('76) tour.

  • ummm, that is Bruford

  • Wow, definitely not feeling the drummer's interpretation of this song nearly as much as the original recording. BB's playing is much more unique and intense. Then again, he's pretty much irreplaceable.

  • Amazing!

  • OMG At that improvised bass solo.

  • Trevor Rabin is amazing

but Steve Howe is a guitar prodigy

  • YES are great musicians and heart of the sunrise is one of the best tracks ever, so much emotion one can explode...

PS there was a movie with christina richie, and "heart of the sunrise" was in that movie soundtrack. anyone knows whats the name of that movie? thanks.

  • Buffalo 66 is the film. A brilliant film and fantastic scene where this song is played and chap walks into strip club, pistol in hand, about to blow this fellas head off.

  • "who told you to bet on buffalo, they stunk all year" .... thanks for the information JJ

  • Alan white should have just got out of the way. He is good but bruford just smacks him like a nappy headed ho !

  • haha! So true.......Bruford rules...he's such a better drummer

  • wena conchatuperrra madre pario en cana wena xuxatumare

  • That was Tony's song or at least Tony was co writer before it was recorded. That's in testimony. Tony's style cannot be matched just like Peter. Tony is the best rhythm guitarist on Hammond! Listen to A Venture.

  • If you got up there and layed down the exact same track thats on your recording then what would be the point of doing a show?? Its live, you can let yourself go, get a different feel for the music, move it around a bit more. And to the guy whos like "oh the drums suck" There are TWO of the greatest rock drummers ever on that stage. listen again you bellend.

dont like the keys? Sit and home and listen to your records. dont go to gigs

  • "you bellend" haha...I heard that on the borat show

  • i would like to play a Ric 4003... if not buy one... are they really worth sixteen hundred dollars?

  • I brought mine for $1,080.00. I has the pullup switch that makes it sound like a 4001 too. Best advice would be to try one out first. I actually like my 4001C64 C Series alot more. They cost more but the necks thinner and the vintage pickups sound great.

  • Alan White was good live, but Bruford's precise snair work was the best to listen to in an album.

  • Is there truth in that Heart of the Sunrise had been recorded with Tony Kaye before Rick Wakeman stepped in?

  • whats witht the drums? if i remember correctly they are very different on the recorded version. these drums just suck. they change the feel of the song.

  • couldnt agree more my friend...they are soooooo much better on the album with the great bill bruford

  • Chris Squire is the only bassist ever who could give John Entwistle a run for his money.

  • They still have it for the most part. I'm glad they can still play like that at that age.

  • The keyboards are right my friend.

  • Yeah, it's like an improvisation.

  • I was in the third row.

  • Actually they aren't right...not Tony's anyway. I didn't much care for the way he held the chords with hand drags instead of playing the moving parts as Rick did...oh well.

  • They didn't seen to get the keyboards right for the first few seconds. Still a great song.

  • Don't get me wrong...White's a damn fine drummer..but Mr. BB shines bright on this one.

  • amen - i actually preferred white's playing in the 70's to bruford's w/ early yes. but by the point of this concert, and certainly now - no comparison.

  • I saw Yes play this in 1972 - first time I ever got stoned live at Meriweather Post Pavilion outside Washington DC - far out
