@Scarsuna yeah so techinically, there still selling new coke, even if it wasnt the new coke from 85. although where i live they do make a special coke along with the fructose kind called mexican coke (no joke) and they put sugar in that. i really dont like the sugar kind. but maybe thats cuz i was born after they changed sugar to fructose

It's called Mexican coke because it's made in Mexico. The reason they use sugar in Mexico is because, in Mexico, sugar is cheaper than high fructose corn syrup. If you're wondering why that's the case, we subsidize corn in the United States, and pay farmers to grow a tremendous excess, which is used for ethanol and high fructose corn syrup. 40% of every drop of high fructose corn syrup consumed immediately turns to fat, which is the reason I prefer sugar!

@tmntsplinterdude Those blind taste tests are biased in that they rely on the sip method. Because Pepsi is sweeter, it's the natural choice when drinking only small amounts of it. In my eighth grade science class, when learning about the double blind study, we did the pepsi coke challege. Although Pepsi was the clear winner in sip tests (think a dixie cup full), Coke came out as a huge winner (23/34 students) when the class was given 1/4 of a can of each soda to drink.

I cannot drink pepsi by itself. It's way too sweet and has some weird aftertaste alone. However, for some reason with certain things like Taco Bell or Pizza Hut, it tastes ok as long as you're eating food. I can drink Coke with anything and even by itself it has no aftertaste. So coke wins that battle. However, Fanta Orange beats every other soft drink in taste...easily

It was a true moment of stupid 1980s history- Pepsi was selling better for about a minute, so Coke decided to make their drink taste more like the competition.

While I admire the history behind Coke, I have to admit I like Pepsi better and usually get that given the choice. Cherry Coke is better than Cherry Pepsi though, and Pepsi Vanilla was better than Vanilla Coke but they both died the same time and now Vanilla Coke's come back so I buy that just to make sure it stays in production now!

Coca-Cola stands for Cocaine-Cola, back in the 1900s when it was first marketed it did have cocaine but it was rapidly dismissed in search of a better flavor

Coke did used to have cocaine in it, from coca leaves.  Coca leaves are still used in the production of Coke, but the cocaine is removed through a filtering process by a company in New Jersey. There are some who believe that all the cocaine cannot truly be removed; therefore, it is possible that a coke can still contain trace amounts.
