  • awesome sauce. TOTALLY in the spirit of the Who, and of course John. I also love the Primus-esque solo :D

  • John would be proud, brother. Excellent as always!

  • I wonder what Entwistle would say? lol

  • Excellent.

  • that was strange... but good!

  • i play this all the time.. its one of my favorites to play on the bass. great song, strange cover. its still great.

  • LOL....I cannot help but to be strange.

  • That bass solo sounds so much like les claypool :o

  • LOL!!

    Great video man!

  • Love the bass solo... I wish i wasent aracnaphobic so I could keep a spider and name him Boris...

  • its bill nye the science guy

  • fuck man i cant watch the video i can only hear it...

i hate spiders truly hate them little creepy hairy creatures

great song and great cover dude

  • This sound of this "remake" of yours is freaky, groovy, and downright awesome. The video/imagery is fun/creepy, too. GJ!

  • great job

  • That was great!! I thought the middle solo was very "Entwistle-esque" as well! 5-stars!

  • omg i shit my panits waching this!!!! lol jk

  • Glad you liked it....most of the music I write is designed to make you smile. I cannot get off of the comedy kick.

  • This remake really just shows how influenced you are by primus and it sounds fantastic!

  • Thanks, man. I have a new remake that I am working on right now. When I finish it, it will go immediately to a video like this one. And yeah, it is Primus-ish.

  • man spiders can suck it

    FO SHO

  • FI FIE FO FUM, I smell a jealous purveyor of dipterans; begone Drosophila man! Your obvious bias against Araneids betrays your intentions.

    \m/

  • I have a large Huntsman living in my bathroom. He's cool, he eats bugs for me! I even named him Boris, after both this song and the fact there is an Aussie slang term for doing your business in there and that's "Doing a boris". XD

  • LOL....it's a perfect name. And as a part-time Araneologist, I am rather jealous of your spider population down under. We do have some good ones in Texas, though. The black widow is our version of a red-back, and we have the brown recluse, which is quite different than your funnel webs. For big spiders in Texas, we have Tarantulas...the Mygalomorphic kind. I believe you have a couple of species in the outback that are deadlier than ours, though.

  • hehe that was quite amusing, awesome.

  • After working my way through all your Primus stuff and some Iron Maiden (and loving every minute of it!) I get to this and become even more impressed.

Or maybe it's the fact I've also gone through a few more drinks since I started watching.

Either way it's another 5 star effort.

  • Nice Ricenbacker. How much was it?My brother wants one

  • I bought my Rick in 1987, used, for $450.

Nowadays they are about $1200 used. New, they are about $2000. I most certainly recommend used because Ricks retain their value and their quality.

  • All I have to say is,and forgive me,Goddammit.

  • LOL. No need for forgiveness.

  • Oh,I didn't know if you were reliegous or not

  • Nope, I am a scientist and love death metal, which leaves little room for dogmatic bible thumping. Not to say I don't believe in a supreme being, but I do not think that an all-knowing and all-loving entity such as God would give a crap about petty details like what people say to each other. So it's all good.

  • By the way...Five Stars!

    Blessings,

    Keri

  • I love it!!!!!! Very cool! Hey...your not a nerd! So stop saying that! LOL! Your cool with major talent! Love your videos!

    Blessings,

    Keri

  • You are very nice and thank you. However, I stand by the fact that I am a nerd. I study bugs for a living; I used to be heavily into Dungeons and Dragons; I have acne; and I was dubbed "King of the Dipshits" practically from high school when my headgear-braces came off. I might have a bit of talent in a few areas, but that only makes me a higher functioning nerd. I embrace my nerdom with pride, and stand up for my fellow nerds in solidarity.

  • Nice job Rob! Great bass solo and fun vocals!

  • Much appreciated, Brian.

  • omg dude thats funny shit. Props... much Props.

  • Thank you.

  • johns my favorite bass player.... ever...

and the who are the greatest band... ever...

    but that's just my opinion.

    badass

  • I'm glad to see a Who song, i believe i requested that you do one a long time ago...in some other galxy, somewhere.

  • So it was you!! LOL.

  • Hi zodiakironfist.

    wow!!! what a great video!!

fantastic! you play all instruments very good. the bass solo is very good!

the re-made with more basses have sounds very good!

    congrats for the good work!!!

    take care with the spiders...he,he,he

Hope you are well and have a merry xmas for you and your family!!

    -Ale-

  • you're an inspiration :)

  • LMAO... (imitating Chris Farley) that was AWESOME. Rob, I never would have taken you for an Entwistle fan, but the tune makes a lot of sense given your line or work. Fav'd!

  • I am not a big fan of The Who, but I am a fan of Entwistle. You only have to see him play live to be blown away.

  • I agree... My favorite is "The Real Me". That tune has some cool bass lines.

  • Ha man this is the shit! That was pure genius; when you don't like what you play, you simply change it to fit your tastes, exactly what happened here. Very nice playing, and even more vocals =):P. It's easy to see your old death metal influences in this video huh? :P

5/5 and faved! Keep on rocking Rob!

  • I cannot sing clean very well, so I have "voices" that I use in place of real singing. Two of them..."the nerd" and "the carcass" are featured in this video (the "gnoll" is my lower DM voice). The one you haven't heard is the "the hetfield", my generalized metal voice. Guess who that sounds like? (albeit a cheaper K-Mart version)

  • Is your metal voice used for growling or singing?

  • "the carcass" and "the gnoll" are my two death metal voices (kinda like Deicide).

but "the Hetfield" is used for any metal that requires some singing, like Maiden or Megadeth.

But I'm a bass player, so I mostly shut up and play. I only sing in the most dire of circumstances, like when no one else can do it or I have to record every part to a song by myself.

  • Dude, that was the sex.

  • I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I hope it's good :)

  • For sure it is positive; I was talking about your creativity and your talent!

  • LOL. I was asking manson here. Youtube always screws up the order in which responses appear.

  • Definately good hahaha.

If it was bad I might have said, That was a Donkey Show...eh I dunno haha.

  • HO-LY SHNIKEES.......beyond words. I love you Zod, and in a totally gay way. 5 stars

  • LOL. It's a shame that I'm married.

  • Where are the Harry Potter spiders. Oh, and your not sitting down in this vid.

  • Iactually thought of those piders, but I could not get good footage. Even Shelob came out a bit dark and washed out.

  • haha enjoyed watching that

    great vid

  • Thanks...that's why I made it...to generate a laugh or two.

  • OMG ru singing too? thats awsome!

  • LOL...I'd be careful about calling what I do "singing", but yes, that is me.

  • Man, your vocals actually sound just a bit similar to Les Claypool's. I just thought you might like to know. Awesome bass playing as always. Can't wait for the next song.

  • I never thought about that, but yeah, my nerdy ortator's voice is similar to his voice in some respects. He can sing, though.

  • Lmao I have to say this is a great song for you especially since you are an entomologist. I'm not generally scared of spiders, but then again i've never seen a black widow or anything up in person :P all we got in canada is "daddy long-legs" and regular household ones. 5/5 Rob, keep on rockin!!

  • That does it. I'm moving to Canada.

  • Hey, don't forget those big mofo dock spiders!

  • Dock spider....is that a Pisaurid?

  • Then I shall move to Canada away from the docks *grin*

  • excellent cover

  • Thanks. I honestly did not know how such a thing would be received. I took a lot of artistic lisence with this song.

  • Cheese is what I do. Thanks a bunch Nate.

  • Very nice cover :D

It would've been nice to see you playing everything, split screen style though ;)

Also I like your new lyrics :p

  • I thought about it, but it would have taken much longer to do since I would have to lip synch perfectly while I played. It was easier to do it in segments.

And thanks for noticing that I changed the words. First one so far.

  • This is your best yet! Arachnophobia is the fear of spiders, Arachibutyrophobia is the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth. "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." -Bene Gesserit (Dune, Litany Against Fear)

  • Thanks Barz. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion....it is by the juice of Safu that the thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning....it is by will alone I set my mind in motion.

Dune litanies are my thing, too.

  • I know Im commenting a lot in this video, but I couldn't resist saying: I rather have peanut butter stuck on the roof of my mouth than a spider stuck on the roof of my mouth!

  • Some spiders (mostly Mygalomorphs) are considered a delicacy on three continents.....Africa, South America, and Asia.

Don't knock it till you try it. :)

  • Mygalomorphs? Tasty indeed and infinitely better than peanut butter! As you are no doubt aware, and as we have discussed earlier, arachnids constitute the class Arachnida, in the phylum Arthropoda. The class is divided into 11 orders. Of those 11 orders, my personal favourites are the Schizomida (micro whipscorpions), You gotta love those Schizomida, you're never truly alone with one!

  • i have fucking arachnaphobia so i couldnt watch the whole thing but good job man the who fucking kick ass same for entwhistle

  • It is the most common phobia amongst humans. But still, I'd rather deal with spiders than regular insects because spiders can't fly up into your face. Take it from an entomologist.

  • CREEPY!

  • oh ive had a spider fly up into my face once or twice, almost shit myself when it happened too. haha

  • lol aren't there jumping spiders...?

  • Absolutely (the family Salticidae), and they can jump a total of four or five inches max. Far from my face.

  • Very awesome job, Mr. Rob! This was a very difficult video to watch, for I am a professed arachnophobic, although with my fear comes an odd interest in arachnids. I don't miss any special on them, but can't walk near one without becoming paralyzed!

Anywho, 5/5 and Fav'd. This prompts a question. You don't keep bugs or arachnids around the house, do ya?

  • Yes, I have a pet black widow and I keep a colony of mealworms at home for fishing.

  • I shall never go visit you :)

  • woah interesting take , awesome

  • I am a weirdo, but a harmless one.

  • your probably the 758th coolest person on the planet! one day ill get up the sack to put some of my shit on youtube but untill then........................

  • If you say so. Personally I think that what I have is the opposite of coolness. It's more like a ton of geek-juice.

  • haha nice cover dude!

    I like your singing!

  • LOL. There is no accounting for taste. Thanks a ton!

    \m/

  • Boris the Spider on acid....love it, babe!

    5er!

  • Thanks for donating the quality time so I could finish it, darling.

  • and thought the the original couldnt get any weirder.

  • Thanks. Best compliment of all! I must admit that I do not profess to write serious music. Between the influence of S.O.D., Minutemen, Primus, and my nerdom, it is no surprise that my music is more befitting an evil petting-zoo than a rock arena.

  • HAHAHA.. man, love when you're singin.. but that song is awesome... i really like this video, my favorite video of yours in a long time 5/5 and faved

  • I am glad that you liked it. It's weird, but for some reason, weird is satisfying to me.

  • Nice man, very well done.

  • Much appreciated.
