  • An interesting comment below. I would much rather my nephew know the terms of the illness and how it affects me. This makes sure I never ask him to take care of anything. It means I can show him I take care of myself really well! Education is the key when a parent has bipolar disorder!  Knowledge takes away any fear a child may have by giving them the power to decided how they can best deal with any situation. I am so proud of David!

  • This is always the dysfunction, the adult demanding the child take care of them, instead of the adult caring for the child.
