the cc designs paper looks the best to me as well, its exactly what l need for stamped images , great review. course I believe that you are the best at what you do! hehe , love your choices ! take care and TFS
I'm glad this was brought up, I don't think many Copic users like to acknowledge the mottling (white/lighter spots). Some of my Copics do this, some don't. I did a test on 9 different cardstocks. since it's not happening with all my Copic, I'm inclined to think the ink has issues. Best results I got even with the splotchy Copics was on Beinfang Smooth Bristol board, easily available online and art supply stores. I start getting mottling after only 2 strokes, to much color isn't the cause.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Is the x-press also known as the x-press it? It is amazing how the color really changes with each different paper. Do you have any suggestions for red Copics and the bleeding? The x-press paper seemed to have caught the blending all in splotches.....weird huh? Hope you have a healthy and prosperous New Year and that your room is coming along fabulously :-)
Welcome back, we missed you! Hope you had a great holiday and here's to a blessed New Year. Thank you for the comparison video. They are so imformational and it's always good to see what others have to say. Love all your videos. You inspire me!
Hi Amy. Good to see you back. I tried the Copic Xpress and for some reason it just turned out to be one of my least favorite. I tend to really love the Neenah. I have tried and really like the CC Design as well. I thought that because the Xpress was from Copic that I would love it, but I just don't. Who knows I guess that is why there are so many so that we can each find our nitch. Have a great Sunday. Hugs, Lisa G
I have found and have heard from others also, that with the Copic paper, sometimes you have to wait a little bit for the blotchiness to show, but it generally means you have uneven coverage and putting down some more ink fixes the problem. I don't think I have found a "perfect" paper yet..lol. Everyone has some little thing that is different form the others. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for sharing the comparisons. I have challenges with what I call mottling or uneven spots-- the colour isn't super smooth, sort of splotchy. I have asked a couple of instructors and they suggested it was too much colour being laid down. Any thoughts? Have a great new year.
@paperologist It could depend on the cardstock you're using (if it's a heavier weight it will absorb more ink and you have to work harder to blend the colors), or you might be using too much pressure when blending causing the ink to saturate more in places. Check the back of the cardstock when coloring - if there are areas that are lighter/darker than others then the coloring isn't even. I HTH!
