Canada has the same problem; "O Canada" still hasn't been officially recognized as our national anthem. Ouebec won't vote yes on it, calling it "too Anglophone," even though it was first written in Quebec - and in French!

On the plus side the lyrics are more or less one what I had on my cassett. Wikipedia states the lyrics were composed by Mr. Handley in the 1950's. My reservtion is the song is sung too slowly. The version on my cassett is much more lively.

BTW have any of you seen the move The Devils Brigade, starring William Holden? The tune Scotland the Brave is played in that movie. It appears to be the theme.

I've tracked down the other version of the lyrics. It's the lyrics for Scotland Forever and then it puts Scotland the Brave in brackets. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this is. Are they the same and if so where do the second set of lyrics come from.

@KeredDrahcir I think these are the real lyrics. They lyrics are similar to what I had on my cassette. The tune is about 100 years old, while the lyrics are about 50 to 60 years old. I think you may want to check wikipedia for the history of the song.

No need to travel through Engerland if you so wish. A direct ferry leaves from Zeebrugge in Belgium three times a week to Rosyth in Scotland.

The tune has been around for around 100 years but the words were written in the early 50s for a singer (funnily enough :))!! This isn't the best version though and sounds better sung by a man IMO and I'm a woman!!!

the lyrics are inspiring. I have heard several versions of the tune (bagpipes, piano, etc.). The tune is fine!
