@Casey97531 Well, it is not unhealthy for them, and it has a high water content, so it is awesome for hot summer days, like in this video it was June :) So it can be given a couple times a week :)
I'm not looking forward to seeing the eldest die, what do i do then? should i move her dead body immediately or leave in the cage for a few hours so to make sure the others can see it has passed away?
mine had been eating bluebells for months before i realised it was poison, but watching them i realised they had worked out to only eat a little of them or they get stomach ache, clever pigs as well as greedy pigs.
my 5 pigs all had a good go at my wallpaper, i didnt wanna stop em and they dint stop, ate a load of it off the wall, eventually i replaced it with stiff white paper, they seem to like the noise it makes when they chewing it up. i call them greedy pigs not guinea pigs, lol
apples, pears, cucumber, tomato, corn on the cob, honeydew melon, carrot, cauliflower, green beans, broccoli, asparagus, grass, sunflower leaves, banana, seedless green grapes, strawberry leaves, thats what mine like most, they also like a bit of mulli, a bit of bread too, a good one youll not know about is premium wild bird seed with added sunflower hearts, they all like that lot
Before I ask my question I want to say I love your videos, guinea pigs, and more. Anyway I just made a new C&C Cage for my guinea pigs because you inspired me and I'm going to make a video about it soon so piggiepigpigs please!!!!! watch the video about it when I make it. And my question is I find some penuts in my Guinea pigs food called Ecotrition and they eat it and nothing happens. Do you think it will hurt my guinea pigs? Please respond!!!!!!!!!! P.S. Your my guinea pig godess.
can you please send me all of those information pages with the foods and stuff like copy and paste it on pm or something or if you want i can tell you my email so you can email it to me!??? please!!
i think ur guinea pigs are angry at you cuz you ate a raspberry and all the fruits and veggies look so good unlike in the us but anyways my guinea pig looks like gus
Is there any grass that is posinous to guinea pigs?
I remember that in 1 video you let your pigs come outside and eat some of the grass. (VERY cute, by the way!)
I was just wondering, because I want to make sure that the grass in my backyard is safe for my guinea pig to much on. (:
I loved the video by the way, when you said, "We don't want constipated piggies!!" it made me laugh so much I fell off my chair! (Not litterally, but I was tipping over a little!) You have helped me a lot!!
@iCavy In my country, people can give them bread, anything but meat. okay? Itreat my guinea pig well and i knkow that they need to eat some restricted fruits and veggies. its only a fact. okaiee did i answer your question?
Our mature piggie (that we've had since Easter 2011) used to enjoy greens picked from the yard that are safe. We started giving her Spring Mix. Now she snubs her nose at some of the greens she used to enjoy from outside, unless she's outside. Apple, so far, is the only fruit she seems to enjoy.
BTW, iceburg & romaine isn't even nutriious for human, much less an animal.
@Piggiepigpigs Well in my country "cuys" are treated like animals... people say allitle bit of too much love is too much for them... they might diee...and their nature they eat whatever they want... because "cuys" in south america people give them bread, actually whatever. But ione thing i know they dont give is meat, but that is just a fact from my country. I treat my guinea pig well and i follow what they eat and what they cant.
ok, lets put it this way, if you found poison, and your mom told u not to eat it or you would die, and i said no, no let her, come on!!!! it's her nature.... it's exactly the same, i don't know if you know but poisonous things to guinea pigs, KILLS them .....
You can't find foods in the wild that you can find at a food store, therefore in the wild there is not as much of a variety in their habitat. In other words, there is not as many different type of poisonous food in the place they live in the wild than there is in the care of an owner. When you GIVE foods to them, you need to be weary. That's what this whole video is about! Im sure that they have an incstinct in the wild to not eat things, but not here.
On guineapigcages forums they say pea pods are okay but only to feed them a couple times a week, 1-2 pods per pig. Certainly everyone has their own set of feeding rules, so I guess it's nothing to stress too much over =P
Great video. But are you sure the list that said cheese and rice isn't for hamsters? I think I also saw Ham written on it too :/ Dairy products and rice etc are big no-nos for guinea pigs (: Also it may of been a good idea to focus a bit on green bell peppers as each guinea pig should get an eight of a green pepper a day. When you mentioned carrots you could of added that they should be fed in moderation only a slice or two per pig every few days.
This video was very helpful! Thanks for all of the interesting tips! I was wondering how often I should feed my piggies fruits, I know it says sparingly on the chart, but what does that mean, like every 3 or 4 days or something? Thx
"Don't worry - just stop doing it." Made me chuckle. XD
I have question about how you should buy the veggies and fruits: bagged? Not bagged? doesn't matter? should we look for organic? and are pesticides a problem? should we be wary of what we buy?
@MxV13 i stopped usin tap water for my consumption &my migraine headaches ceased within same month,i started again so to test & my headaches began again &gettin worse as each day passed,so dont let ya guinea pigs drink tap water, most of it is sewage water treated 2b cleaner, look at the size of guinea pigs, whatever is in tap water which is messin ppl up in many ways is gonna have a bigger effect on such small animals.
my guinea pigs like to listen to smooth fm and classic fm,
Shouldnt u wash the veggies before u feed them to the pigs? I mean its dry and maybe theres some dirt and whatnot but still, the feeling ur eating clean and watery veg kinda reassures u that ur foods not dirty. I feel the same for my piggies. Im not a clean freak i swear!!
Actually people believe oranges are good for guinea pigs because of all the vitamin c in it, but actually the acid in the orange can give piggies blisters on their lips. Plus the acid is sometimes too hard on their system.
It's so cute that they try to steal away every veggie/fruit from eachother! I laughed so much that I almost cried when your little adorable piggie made that noise. It sounds just like my guinea pig! Thanks for the vid now I feel like I can safely feed my guinea pig fruits/vegetables!

YAAAYY!!!! Thank you so much for doing this video! ^_^ You're so wonderful to us.
Even though some sights have lists of stuff you can give your piggies, I never really trusted them. I do, however, trust you in the piggie department.
my piggies thank you too, because they'll be getting a better verity now.
@guineapighelper10 oh my, you should check out my piggies when there's cucumber around. I just give them the whole one to share (I have 5 piggies) and they'll all take turns trying to run off with it, and trying to pull it into their piggloo. So cute. ^_^
@Piggiepigpigs I figured you didn't but I felt the need to say that for anyone considering it. But I really liked this video too! It shows how much you spoil your piggies (which I do too) giving them such a lovely variety of food. It's no wonder your guineas are so big and healthy!
Great video. I love finding reduced vegetables. It makes my day! I once bought 15x2 gem lettuces because it was reduced to 10p. The pigges were very happy with me that day.
hahah my piggies LOVE grapes! I used to feed mine Romain Lettuce, but my parents said it was too expensive ;( I was crushed! I think that I am now inspired to go down stairs (I live near a 'general' store, food, paper, tooth brush etc.) and go on a piggie shopping spree! XD! Love you! Oh and I might have a surprise for you Laura, here is a hint - C&C ;)
My guinea pigs don't like cabbage or pears. My sister actually owns them, but I'm the person who does everything for them except buy the stuff.. I wish she'd buy vegetables+fruit for them :(
I bought two guinea pigs together, one died a couple weeks ago and one is still living, he's 7 or 8 I believe.. I absolutely cannot get him to lose weight or to be tame with me. -__-
After 7 years he still runs if I come over to the cage. I handle him when I can and he still is reluctant to become tame... Any tips for that?
Please don't give them too many carrots, they are known to cause liver problems. One slice of a large carrot or one baby carrot per pig per week should be good perfect.
ok i have a question i have 6 guineas and there are 3 girls and 3 boys and i bred 1 of the girls and she used to LOVE to eat blackberrys and blue berrys but ever since she has been pregnant she has almost turned everything down except for her pellets and hay and sometimes grass and nothing about her habitat has changed shes still in the same cage as the other girls is there any fruit or vegies you would recomened me try with her i am really woried about her and i dont want to stress her even
Thanks for all the awesome videos and for taking time out of your day to make this . It really helped me , i was actually quite surprised to find that you can't feed the piggies certin things like , for example , cheese . Thank you once more . I also have a qestion , do you recomend have a Texel cavy and a Peruvian cavy together in a cage ? i was just woundering because those are the types i plan on getting.
This is great! your pigs have a wide variety to munch on!
I wish our market would have this much stuff year round.
I totally agree with absolutely no dairy or grain, that stuff DOES cause internal medical problems which are extremely costly to fix. Pigs are strict vegetarians. :)
i only have romain, bell prepper, brockoly (some times), tomatos n qucumber . they get apples n bananas once a mounth i tried salery they aint really into that so but i trust you :'D couse i love your piggies
Were growing Romaine lettuce , Radish , Cucumber , Strawberry , Tomato in our garden. So my piggy will get fresh fruits and vegs :) And I can't give him fruits or vegetables well the lady said I can't she said he has to be 6 months old before I can give him fruits and vegetables I don't know why but since you've had a lot of experience with guinea pigs I'm asking you if I can give him fruits and vegetables so can I?
I believe no on cooking apples and apple seeds are expecially dangerous because they contain small quanties of cyanide, same as cherry pits and some nuts like almonds.
I like how your greens comes pre-packaged, usually here we have to package them ourselves which is fine, but its not air tight like this, so it wouldn't last as long.
i found this on jackies website Satsumer Pieces: One or two segments, remove rind and pips, give weekly. You can give a little of any orange citrus fruit.
I got a new guinea pig a couple days ago and she instantly favored romaine lettuce. I gave her a cucumber slice and she ate it all so I tried romaine lettuce and she ate it. Then the next day I tried to give her a cucumber slice and she wouldn't eat it. Instead she ate the romaine lettuce. I was wondering, is this good or bad? And should I be giving her more than one type of veggie? She doesn't really like to try new things.
*feed them new veggies randomly?

Hi, I just wanted to let you know, grapes aren't good for guinea pigs. They can give them kidney problems. Love your videos!
guineapigluver10 8 months ago
Please don't give them too many carrots, they are known to cause liver problems. One slice of a large carrot or one baby carrot per pig per week should be good perfect.
:)

I agree about the dairy! When is a piggie in the wild ever going to go suck on a cows udder?! Bizzare. So unatural for them.

This is great! your pigs have a wide variety to munch on!
I wish our market would have this much stuff year round.
I totally agree with absolutely no dairy or grain, that stuff DOES cause internal medical problems which are extremely costly to fix. Pigs are strict vegetarians. :)

They don't sell any of this stuff in the USA. Not these brands but I don't know which other brands to trust.

I believe no on cooking apples and apple seeds are expecially dangerous because they contain small quanties of cyanide, same as cherry pits and some nuts like almonds.

Are you doing a hamster one soon also?

I like how your greens comes pre-packaged, usually here we have to package them ourselves which is fine, but its not air tight like this, so it wouldn't last as long.

shemmaloveszolly 8 months ago
i found this on jackies website Satsumer Pieces: One or two segments, remove rind and pips, give weekly.
