I had a '99 FXDX and it was the biggest mistake of my riding life. All show and no go. I ditched it after two years and got a vtx1800 and still have it and love it. Bikes shouldn't be bought to be sold - you learn from them and look after them to pass them on to your sons.

@tbmore59, LOL do you really know what a comparison is? What Jap cruiser (stock) puts out 120 hp stock?? Harleys are designed to cruise, everyone knows this. If you are going to compare on price Jap bikes depreciate faster than any other, so in years time your sports bike 0-60 in 3 secs will pretty much depreciate just as quickly, so make comparisons once you have done your homework! Oh and so you know Jap cruisers are slower in comparison and lose their value also rapidly, thats just a fact!

There are two kinds of people in the world. Harley riders and everyone else...As far as the 'wannabees', put a positive spin on it...With more bikes on the road, maybe people driving 4 wheels will have to pay closer attention.

Take note that this is a commercial and by and large I agree with everything said. However, there are far to many wannabes out there that think they are living the life and trailer their bikes to events and might do 1000 miles a year. Personally I liked it and no matter what you ride, as long as you are in the wind, and go to the rally's when you can, you can hang. BTW, I own two Harley's and ride them when ever I can. If I have to explain what makes a Harley best, you would not understand.

I love bikes, I like Harleys and most of the time I dislike Harley owners. They seem to think this store bought lifestyle they have created seems to make them superior in the world of motorcycling. You look down your noses at people with metric bikes but use foreign made products all the time. With me, the man makes the bike not the other way around. Very true , but for real bikers back in day harleys in riding condition were out of reach . so you got a basket case and fixed it and earned your position , not a store bought position , earned through hardship and the help of your brothers . store bought bikers{hog memembers} and jap riders are just riders not bikers in my eyes.1 % or no percent .
