hey Steve, i try registering at your forum section and when ask to enter the confirmation code (case sensitive) i never get through that part. That's strange. Id registering still avaliable?
Hey Steve , I see that you are using alot of softsynths. What are your views on Software vs Hardware for Trance? Also can you put out a video on how you do those killer rolling basslines? And how to get the bass and kick to work off of each other. Thanx
@ANGELO13111 Well, I still listen to his music. But his voice is extremely annoying to listen to. I find it irritating when says "ehhmmm" everytime he has something new to say.
@ANGELO13111 So to answer your question: YES, it does matter when listening to his voice. He`s still a great producer though. But I would never pay tutorials from a guy with a voice like his own. Cheers!
Hmm Steve did you tweak knobs there at 4:40 ? ;) I got the Minimonsta VST as well and been browsing the default patches but err .. that particular sound is nowhere to be seen on my copy :D
from what i assume, if the remixer has been asked or commisioned by the original artist to remix a track, then they may send certain elements(e.g acapellas) that would be needed or make remixing the track easier. but if the remixer wants to make a remix for him/herself....they will most likely start from scratch, as though an original track, trying to recreate certain elements(synths etc.) themselves.
Maybe a pro like steve could answer that question better, im a rookie lol
@controllerbrain Generally when you are making a remix that was requested directly from the original producer they will send you "stems" which are basically various rendered loops of portions of the song. Sometimes they will also send midi files of the lead and bass patterns so you can see what they had originally done. If it's a non-official remix then you have to basically re-create what they had done.
@controllerbrain you get the midi paterns of the original track usualy the lead notes and pad notes....some remix packs have the audio wav inside...it really depends from remix pack to remix pack...hope you got the point:D
@controllerbrain bit of both sometimes but mostly yes the remix parts or stems' are sent through. then yeah the remix artist still has to create a full track so i think remix artists are under appreciated a bit. if u use a vocal from silence for instance, u cant rename it something else really. so yeah=)
Great music. Suggestions for future episodes: Drum/Bass as you said, synth programming, and perhaps how to construct a hands-in-the-air breakdown building up to its apex.
Hi Steve - Saw you at CIRCUS in Hollywood! Great Set!!! I just wanted to say thanks again for this tutorial series, and please keep it up. It's really helpful and interesting :D
I'd like to see some midi recording and editing more in depth in future episodes. It would also be cool to see how and when you decide to add filter / modulation sweeps on your synth tracks.
I always love to see how professional Producers work and have their Songs arranged.
Indeed I would love do have a more detailed look at your EQ / Compressor and other different processing / filter Effects or how to make Drums and Bassl work together as u already mentioned.
Steve doesn't 'have' to do this for us. He could just go about his day every day having a great life. But instead, he does all of this for us. So if you're music isn't enough to be thankful for, thank you Steve for sharing your awesome talent with us. Especially with those of us that can only imagine making some of the music you come up with.
Nice to see you use vanguard.I use it a lot and while it can be pretty stereotypical in some instances , if you have a play with it , it can blow down doors.
Great producer and musician! Excellent video ^_^ Thank you for taking the time to do this. I have a lot of your tunes on vinyl and it is great to see how you produce the music. Maybe you can produce a track from scratch program the drums and build it up as you go along so we can see what goes on behind the scenes and how you make the tunes you do. Thanks again for these series looking forward to the next one.
@thrilltube u have every single synth i use lol! vangaurd, minimonsta, omnishere! wow, how did you make Synaesthesia? I attempted a remix(home project of course) and a friend agree's that I came close to the original. I used my vangaurd layered with albino. I recently bought a virus Ti though and wonder if you used one of those. I would love to know how you did it! feel free to Pm me =) Cheers, Dan
Steve! What software do you guys use to create that layer for the screencast?
Anyways, a really well made tutorial, just like the first one. Keep it up! Perhaps you could do a series where you create a track from scratch or something? :)
Thanks Steve - nice little tutorial. Kind of you to share your knowledge. Would be great to hear your thoughts on mixing as well... Noticed on sounds you have delays and reverbs going on. Would be interesting to hear why you have chosen certain delays/reverbs over others for example.

no, usually the label sends remixparts (midi or wav files) to producers which use the main theme or idea of the original song to make a remix
