Hey, I was brought up all over Dewsbury/ batley/heckmondwike area. It used to be muchbetter then. I remmeber the old Wakefield Rd and how Dewsbury was always packed with traffic by the phone boxes before the Ring Road was built. They made a mess of dewsbury when they paved it all over .

im a british asian and ive lived in dewsbury all my life and its really not that bad a place. the last couple of years there has been a massive increase in the amount of immigrants that have settled here from eastern europe and iraq. the vast majority of people get on fine with each other, you get nobheads in each community, wether they're white, asian, iraqi or polish and they give the rest of us a bad name.
Also, Kirklees has done NOTHING for Dewsbury! In many ways, it's been the worse thing that ever happened to Dewsbury, and I know a lot of ppl who live there who feel the same way ;)
Dewsbury has got a lot of beautiful architecture - the town hall, the victorian arcades, the original post office are just a few. The pioneer house used to be a beautiful building. There are also many impressive stone victorian buildings all around Dewsbury.
It saddens me that Dewsbury has had so much bad publicity - and to make matters worse the media have chosen to almost destroy Dewsburys image. I know some lovely ppl who live there and I still think it's a great town!
