@etocadet in the proper circle of life, the snake kills the mouse in an often slower and more painful way, and we still kill and eat other animals ourselves.
I personally use the cervical dislocation method. Like I put the Mouses head under the lid of the tank and then pull on it's tail to snap it's neck but I have used this method before I figured out how to snap there neck. Also CO2 is worthless when your only killing a small amount of mice CO2 is only good when your killing rodents in mass quantity. Nice vid btw

You're supposed to hold them by the tail and put your fingers around the neck and pull it apart, it's more human to just snap it's neck, it instantly kills them.

This is just fucked up. I got myself a common Nile Monitor, and I either pre kill my shit through co2 gas chambers, or I buy them frozen. I quite frankly hate people who bash others that put up videos of mice dying, but clamping down on it like that is just fucking out of this world. You would have been much better off putting it in a fucking bag, and smashing it against the ground, it would have died almost instantly, or even grab it by the tail, and hit em against a wall, even faster.

@evilman210 there is no need to stun the mouse. Fresh killed prey items are almost always accepted by captive snakes. For those that won't eat pre-killed feeders, feed them live while monitoring the event. "Bopping" the mouse is cruel and unnecessary.

@evilman210 those methods are a lot more brutal than a simple snap of the neck. Breaking the animals neck severs the spine which stops the heart. Death is near instantaneous. I dont recommend squeezing their chest simply because it isnt as fast as Id like it to be. It doesnt "crush their chest", however, as one user pointed out. They can compress their bodies easily. It simply prevents them from being able to breath. It is far more inhumane to "bop them on the head" or "whack against a wall".

They don't swallow their prey whole, they constrict their prey by crushing their ribs and internal organs, so It is no different than the tongs, only with the tongs there is no way for the snake to get hurt.

Really cuz i have 3 balls and 4 corns, i have seen my corn take up to 3 mins to fully kill a snake. Watch the CO2 vids they take a couple of minutes too, to completely kill them, spinal chords are fast but can be gross as fuck it you mess up... Plus this guy isn't killing 10 plus mice at a time he is doing only doing to couple at a time. That was a horribly inhumane method of pre-killing. The CO2 method is by far the most humane, and if you are going to break the spine break the cervical spine just behind the head, not round the middle. You cruelly suffocate them to death when cervical dislocation would bring instant painless death. No negative comments my ass.

Unfortunately the most "humane" method is the "anesthesia overdose" method, but that wouldn't be too good for the snake, any method which results in an "untainted" meal is going to be inhumane. And just to be clear, I'm not saying this in a negative way, I keep mice myself, ironically enough I never intended to as they were feeders for my fish, but they grew on me. Turns out they make great pets (and feeders).

I don't get why everyone gets so upset about mice and rats/rodents dying to be fed to snakes. What would you do if you found a rat or mouse in your house? You would probably leave a rat trap or poison out for it. Then you'd just throw away the body. At least, by killing them to be fed to a snake, they serve a purpose and they die much quicker. So stop whining about how cruel it is. It's less cruel than poisoning them slowly or letting them suffer for hours in a rat trap.
I've never heard of anyone killing their mice like this before, everybody else just grabs them by the tail, smacks their head against the table edge and be done with it. if you can do it properly, dont do it at all.
What your doin is called servical dislocation. Either by pulling the tail while holding right behind the head, or with the tongs like you did. other then co2 it is the most humane way of killing rats/mice. I'm glad you just don't bash them against a wall or somthing :)
if you pre-kill pinky mice/rats, i would be very interested to know how. I have been pinching them behind them shoulder blades (basically servical dislocation) but it still takes a lot longer then i'd like for them to die.

This is just fucked up. I got myself a common Nile Monitor, and I either pre kill my shit through co2 gas chambers, or I buy them frozen. I quite frankly hate people who bash others that put up videos of mice dying, but clamping down on it like that is just fucking out of this world. You would have been much better off putting it in a fucking bag, and smashing it against the ground, it would have died almost instantly, or even grab it by the tail, and hit em against a wall, even faster.

@evilman210 there is no need to stun the mouse. Fresh killed prey items are almost always accepted by captive snakes. For those that won't eat pre-killed feeders, feed them live while monitoring the event. "Bopping" the mouse is cruel and unnecessary.

@evilman210 those methods are a lot more brutal than a simple snap of the neck. Breaking the animals neck severs the spine which stops the heart. Death is near instantaneous. I dont recommend squeezing their chest simply because it isnt as fast as Id like it to be. It doesnt "crush their chest", however, as one user pointed out. They can compress their bodies easily. It simply prevents them from being able to breath. It is far more inhumane to "bop them on the head" or "whack against a wall".

They don't swallow their prey whole, they constrict their prey by crushing their ribs and internal organs, so It is no different than the tongs, only with the tongs there is no way for the snake to get hurt.

Many do eat them while they're still alive, however. OMG THAT IS AN AWFUL METHOD!! Jesus! Use CO2 or something. That is brutal. I was looking at the video for advise and I have to say, yours is awful and inhumane. It seems you have no respect for nature but just what ever is convent for yourself.. I do understand that's what happens when a snake kills a mouse but he could at least have used a quicker method. I was looking for a method good so it will be better for the mice and the snake, not just because "it's easy" You should delete this video.

Really cuz i have 3 balls and 4 corns, i have seen my corn take up to 3 mins to fully kill a snake. Watch the CO2 vids they take a couple of minutes too, to completely kill them, spinal chords are fast but can be gross as fuck it you mess up... Plus this guy isn't killing 10 plus mice at a time he is doing only doing to couple at a time. It took him less then 30 seconds seems pretty humane to me. you don't like it he asked you not to comment your just being a dick

Well, he said he will freeze it then feed it later so why doesn't he just use frozen thawed? My balls won't eat frozen thawed so I don't have a choice, I tried all different ways. CO2 doesn't take a few mins. They are down in about 30 seconds too and at least they don't have to go through excruciating pain.

People do not get it, he does not care about the fact that killing the mouse the way he did was more/just as painful as a snake constricting it or if it is less humane then the co2 chamber. What matters is that the mouse is dead and cannot bite the snake.Thats all too it, know one cares about how the mouse dies as long as the snake is not bitten, get it? I feed live and my snake loves em and idgad its nature and i am feeding my snake because it's my pet and responsibility no matter what.

I'm actually astonished at most of the comments on this video. Fair warning was given that this video would contain the death of a mouse, so I don't see why people are crying about it. Ok, it may look inhumane, but the mouse died in seconds. Neck or back, the mouse won't die instantly, it takes a few seconds for the brain itself to die. Get over yourselves and stick to your own damn method if you don't like it.

That was a horribly inhumane method of pre-killing. The CO2 method is by far the most humane, and if you are going to break the spine break the cervical spine just behind the head, not round the middle. You cruelly suffocate them to death when cervical dislocation would bring instant painless death. No negative comments my ass.

Unfortunately the most "humane" method is the "anesthesia overdose" method, but that wouldn't be too good for the snake, any method which results in an "untainted" meal is going to be inhumane. And just to be clear, I'm not saying this in a negative way, I keep mice myself, ironically enough I never intended to as they were feeders for my fish, but they grew on me. Turns out they make great pets (and feeders).

Cool way to kill them. If you care about them being in pain. Try doing the same thing but grab it by the neck and the tail then yank breaks the neck instant death. That is only if you care about them suffering. I don't really care myself. I sometimes do it that way or hurt them if the hurt my snake.

I don't get why everyone gets so upset about mice and rats/rodents dying to be fed to snakes. What would you do if you found a rat or mouse in your house? You would probably leave a rat trap or poison out for it. Then you'd just throw away the body. At least, by killing them to be fed to a snake, they serve a purpose and they die much quicker. So stop whining about how cruel it is. It's less cruel than poisoning them slowly or letting them suffer for hours in a rat trap.

What your doin is called servical dislocation. Either by pulling the tail while holding right behind the head, or with the tongs like you did. other then co2 it is the most humane way of killing rats/mice. I'm glad you just don't bash them against a wall or somthing :)
if you pre-kill pinky mice/rats, i would be very interested to know how. I have been pinching them behind them shoulder blades (basically servical dislocation) but it still takes a lot longer then i'd like for them to die.

@MrCoryjohnson1 That's not cervical dislocation. He crushed the mouse's ribcage, and pinched the lungs/heart. Cervical dislocation is breaking the neck. I know he said he'd rather pinch between the shoulders and head, that would be cervical dislocation, but not where he grabbed it in this video.
This is probably the most inhumane way to "euthanize" I have ever seen.

CO2 is definately better, keeps your food complete, get a heap together gas them then straight to the freezer.
I use Bi Carb soda and vinegar which produces the CO2 gas. It simple to do.
