I really hope the big 3 get their bailout, but I also hope they do immediate changes to cut costs. I work at FedEx, and we're effected by the big 3 not getting bailed out because they are some of our biggest costumers and I'm pretty sure other companies are effected by them hurting as well, but FedEx did lots of changes to cut millions in costs so that non of us would lose our jobs or our hours.

It operates no banks of its own nor does it have any profits. Banks themselves can set their own rates and rules with a pretty good degree of flexibility.

Did you even take an economics class, for god sakes? A cartel is an economic term, not a political one! It operates without extreme oversight simply because it would too much of a hassle to constantly monitor what the Fed is doing. Plus, it's not economically prudent to control the central bank as much as many other countries, which have worse off economies, partly as a result of so much central bank control.

The fed can best do its job independently since they're the experts, not congress.

I wouldnt call the Fed the experts. Theyre the reason we are in this mess. Historically low interest rates and a forever increasing money supply have flooded our markets with false liquidity. They just made it up out of thin air. The Fed at the very least needs to be closely monitored if not abolished altogether. Its a private bank which controls our money supply & they arbitrarily set rates and play around with the money supply. Its the duty of Congress, not the Fed, read the Constitution.

Also in a capitalist society (which are not anymore but will always claim to be) you should not have a central bank, especially not a private central bank. Thomas Jefferson & Andrew Jackson warned us of the national banks & how they were far more dangerous than any standing army. It is the national bank that can truly bring the country to its knees. Except the system has been rigged. The media protrays them how the government wants them to and not as they actually are. And they give limited to no face time to anyone they don't want in. People aren't going to vote for someone who they feel is crazy or whom they think they don't know. Even the internet is tainted by a lot of spin. And when I tried to look up information on any local/county/state level person. There were a lot of broken links. So it seems impossible to be fully informed.

And if it's hard for ONE person to get the information they need. Then the odds are greatly stacked against the masses. I voted for Ron Paul because I felt he'd be the right guy for the job. But even still certain jobs only had 1 option to vote on. I found myself voting for a lot of unlabled politicians even though I didn't know who they were. Based on the fact they had no party. But it didn't make a bit of difference in the end. They have it set so only their "acceptable" choices can win.

Also, the thumbs up or down votes should include more categories such as bash, scam, relevance, and so on. People should allow off-site (like off you-tube) analysis and also allow a you-tube rank votes for major wikinews post or references.
