Idk if you know this or not but youre the realness guy. You be tellin um what they really need to know and thats what makes you different. That PLUS education. What school did you go to. Im getting ready to start my first year. Major in Music Industry. I cant wait. Lol. But your tips really stick man and imma use all of this to my advantage. Peace.
I like that part at the end. Straight wisdom. I always look to dig and learn shit before I even attempt to mess with it. you'll know the song better that way too
Informative. I know you made remake of 9th wonder's "shorty on the lookout". I was wondering if you could figure out Alchemist's "stuck on you". The chops in the verse are tough.
I totally agree. I think musicians/producers that stand the test of time are the ones that are the most informed. It's imperative to check out as much music as possible, regardless of if it's your "favorite" genre or not. Basically, it's like being a bear or some other hibernating animal. You ingest as much "food" as you can so that when you sit in front of the laptop/piano/keyboard/trumpet, etc., what you "ate" months/yrs. ago comes out organically. THAT'S how you get your style!
Great advice about respecting the music. We all want to make a beat as hot as Madlib, but he didn't just grab the records out of the crate to start producing. Listen listen listen, it took me a little while to fully understand it myself, I would listen maybe once or twice and start looping. Play your records at parties and pay attention to what catches people's attention. These will be your hot spot for sampling. (in my opinion)
I see you got your ableton back. Im stuck as i upgraded to snow leopard and now my live 7 keeps crashing and i cant afford the upgrade just yet so im not very happy.

first off, I dig the hair cut!
Second, I'd like to know more about the effects that ableton has, especially when it comes to making basslines from samples.
