The man's a genius. "Name the crime I'm guilty of x 6", "Give it up, give it up, gotta give it up" Mark Hollis is one of the few singers I've heard who can keep a listener engaged even when he repeats himself infinitely. A true testament to how convincing his singing and musicianship are. Bravo, Maestro. U2 are still great, but Hollis is a monster singer compared to Bono and TT's music makes U2's look like child's play and I prefer their lyrics too.
There is nothing - NOTHING! - Which Hollis and Talk Talk have done that isn't absolutely superlative. This musical group was far-too-far ahead of its' time. Brilliant.
Mark Hollis- one of the greatest vocalists of all time, as great as Bowie and Billy MacKenzie. This album is mindblowing and that Organ gives me goosebumps.
I have to admit that the true hero of this song is the beautiful genuine Hammond Organ. There is nothing that has the look and feel of a true organ with a Leslie box.
This is my favorite Talk Talk album: contemplative and with a beautiful, easy instrumentation. The organ, guitars and brass section are out of this world. On the other hand the album is not too freefloating and new age. Thank you for posting this
Struggled with a lot of personal demons in 86 & listening to this album helped immensely. Don't know any of the band look at these comments, but if they do thanks boys.
Excellent track. Intensity of vocals - u feel it really matters to him - combined with the electric organ (is it Hammond ) or synth? Some of you 'T.T' experts maybe know
If any person looks closely at Talk Talk albums. You never find anything wrong with any album. All were great 5 star material. If you really think about it although you shouldnt have to nobody can really fuck wit Talk Talk.
The concert Live MONTREUX 1986 is epic. Never ever saw a live performance that good. I was there and now at age 45 still a huge fan, Talk Talk never bores me.
The epitome of perfection, a bloody masterpiece. One of the most perfect fucking damned songs ever written - I couldn't give a shit what any motherfrigging u2/floyd/oasis/coldplay fanatic says, TT are higher than all. And any fuckwit who comes back with "OYE PINK FLOYD/U2 ARE AWESOME! SCREW YOU, HAVE SOME RESPECT!" can suck my cock. They're as awesome as Britney Spears next to this level of pure genius.
@JohnoEAL Yes it's a good song. It's not the greatest song ever, not even the best on this album I reckon. Why try & compare all that other stuff with Talk Talk? Mark Hollis would be the first to disavow any such bullshit.
ok so lets make it number one for xmas like they did with rage against the machine, maybe we can get Cowell to " give it up ". A truly awesome song from a truly awesome band.
Siempre me gustaron las portadas de sus albumes. Luego he leído que buscaban eliminar lo superfluo y convertir el silencio en sonido. Así entenderás que dejaran de ser comerciales y no siguieran.
Why don't they make another tour? I can imagine what are the reasons no to do another tour, but people miss them. They should think about that. But then, I know it's complicated.
Imagine if someone like Mark Hollis went on "X Factor" or "Britain's Got Talent". Simon Cowell would roll his eyes and say "Nope Sorry....That's Three No's" because Hollis and Talk Talk or anyone distinct or outside the box don't fit into the plastic pop world. No wonder music is so shit these days. There's little room for anything different or truly innovative.
The Beatles where also send away by the first door they knocked on, "No, don,t like it nothing new " proves that the people who suppose to know don,t always know, has to do with personal taste, they don,t leave it outside the door;-) so they make mistakes , some big ones;-)
There have been a lot of quite talented singers on American Idol, especially if you tune into this season. But with past ones, it´s true that the unique people are overlooked in favour of more rounded performers who can represent the entire pop star-idol mould.
But to be fair, people like Mark Hollis don´t pop up everyday, and if he did I´d doubt they´d need a singing competition to exercise their talents.
@DarthCipient Well said sir, but be careful, lest you are discovered to be 'unsociable' ... Genuine talent is no longer valued - as with food, people are happier with 'quick and easily digested' - the constipated and musically obese are taking over!! This song is a true classic, thanks for sharing it

@carbine125 I don't listen to it either, but if the shit is getting more attention and exposure than the good, then it limits the amount of good music that can be heard by a wide audience.
@DarthCipient I respect your opinion you make a valid point but in the end, people are idiots. Whenether I look at them I'm just humble because iv'e made the effort to listen to great music and watch great movies in the past and the present, it means "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe".
