Bravo! Hu Ching-Yun is a joy to hear and see at the piano. Her Mozart is especially fine. I can only wish her well for a wonderful career in music and in life.
wow thats amazing... i just started piano in october and its feburary and i can play fur elise! wow thats amazing but im hopeing i can play like her in a couple of these years noww! woww
people, stop being so ridiculous. it is as perfect as it can get. if you can play like her, then you can talk, but maybe then you wouldn't be so quick to judge stupidly.
i'm not a huge fan of mozart, but she may have well converted me. and the ligeti, that's probably one of the best interpretation of my favorite ligeti etude!
i like her playing, is a very dificult etude , but somebody need to tell her , she don`t read correctly the partiture , she played 8th higher but in the partiture ligeti wrote 15th higher!!!! and what about the last notes?!!!! I think how this pianist could to pass a semifinal in rubinstein competition?!!!!! sorry for my spainglish
what is wrong with the last note??? first of all, do you play this etude? and do you think passing to semi-final round of any competition has anything to do with a note? it is correct by the way. You need to learn more about music, and what defines great musicians, instead of posting these idiotic messages on the board.
two videos are here , not with the last notes wrong exactly, but if you see in the the ligeti`s partiture, he wrote 15th higher, no 8th!!!after the first part, can you hear it?, do you think to learn anything with this kind of mistakes is not a serius problem in a competitiòn? is not a seriusproblem for musicians? for composers?well perhaps whit this kinds of thinkin you will the next jury in this competition ...
I think you need to recheck your score first of all. And also she not only made through the semi final round, she is the silver medalist in this competition. This competition lasted three weeks, 5 rounds, with 2 hours of solo recital, chamber music and 2 concerti, and a seven city tour of Israel immidiately after the finale, and she is now stepping in for Helene Grimaud with Israel Philharmonic. To win a prize in a competition like this takes not only artistry, flawless technique, but stamina.
Your questioning of the judges' decision over a few seconds in this long competition, is questioning the minds of musicians like Arie Vardi, Menahem Pressler, Tamas Vasary, Dang Thai-Son, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Robert Levin, among those who sat in this year's jury over a three week period. They are not trying to find mistakes in a bar or two of 8th or 15th octave, which i think is most likely your own mistake. They are looking for an artist.

Such finesse on the Ligeti. So musical, not merely an etude.
