  • my favorite song to listen to when traveling by elevator

  • love your guitar dude

  • Thanks, I loved it.

  • @mauricehiraheta: Thanks for viewing and for your kind comment

  • parabens mais hem bossa é o que é mais ta legal ,

  • @EddieLastra well, at 2:43 a II dom chord (since this is F that would be G7) is normally played, I guess when I listened to this my ear automatically placed a G7 there even though it wasn't since that's the way I always hear the song and I noticed that you were still playing an F major scale with that Bb in it.

  • @geoffreyefloyd: Ah, you're right! I normally play through a C major scale at that point, which would have the B natural note for the G7. But as you observed I got stuck in F major, my bad :( Good catch there buddy! And yes, an F lydian scale would work there too :) Thanks again, Eddie

  • @EddieLastra yeah hahahaha

  • Also over the Gb7b5 chord, use the whole tone scale sometimes, or at least part of the whole tone scale. You can always use a whole tone scale on dom7b5 and dom7#5 chords since the chord tones are all a whole step or two whole steps away.

  • @geoffreyefloyd: Whole tone over the Gb7b5 is a good choice. To my ears I prefer the sound of the Db melodic minor. Thanks for your advice

  • Nice tone on the guitar and the lines are sounding smooth. Only suggestion is to pay attention to the chords you are playing over. When you are playing over the G7 that follows the F6/9 (or FM7 or whatever version of F you decided to use) you shouldn't be playing an F major scale since F major has a Bb and G7 has a B natural...raise that Bb to B natural (F lydian scale). Learn about modes and how to use them over lots of different chords theres lots of good info here on YouTube about that stuff.

  • Cool Chord tone improvise / I like .

  • Hey! What's your technique to play it..? Like which scales...?

Just a sugestion... I liked It, but sometimes it's nice to use what in Argentina we call "silencios", like stop playing for intstant to instant.

  • @rupinita: Thank you for your kind words and feedback. This was a written "study" in eighth notes, so it does sound a bit "square", more technical rather than musical. I agree it needs more "silencios", over here we call that "phrasing" . This is not the way I would normally play this song if I were on the bandstand. If you listen to my latest video clip playing "How Insensitive" I am making more use of the "silencios" you mention. Hope you like that one too. Saludos, Eddie

  • @EddieLastra great! I learned how to say silencio in english... Thank you for your reply and I'll listen to your other videos! Saludos jaja :-)

  • Sounds great Eddie. I'm very interested in the methods of your former teacher. Any suggestions?

  • @SetMiner: thanks for your kind words. Unfortunately most of Warren Nunes books are long out of print. His approach to the fingerboard technique is quite different from what is usually taught in the mainstream. Feel free to email me at: eslastra@gmail.com I'll try and answer any questions you may have.

  • Your Epiphone guitar has a pretty nice sound too, I have a DeArmond X-155 which has a great warm sound too for jazz, the only difference is that you are far better musician than I am.

  • Also are you playing mixolydian for most of it?

  • @strwy2hvn94: I don't use the modal approach at all. I'm mainly playing on the tone centers with arpeggios and simple lines and using diminished and melodic minor in places that I want to add some dissonance.

  • Do you like this guitar? How was the action when you got it? the pickups?

  • @strwy2hvn94: The Epi Joe Pass is a good guitar for the price. I've had a number of expensive name guitars but this is my go to jazz guitar now. It's totally stock, only had routine minor adjustments to the action, I like the 16" body and 24 3/4" scale neck, it's much more comfortable and easier to play than the 17" body and 25 1/2 scale neck like on the Gibson L5.

  • beautiful!
