  • What's the name of the ending song ?

  • "Did I ever tell you my favorite color was blue?"

    >=D

  • This movie is pure lovecraft. Awesome.

  • They are showing us what may happen through movies like this one. Then they can say, "We warned you. What, you didn´t listen? Not our problem"

  • 1:26 ROFL

  • Supposed he laughed at the Star Wars Holiday Special? lol

  • @seanpatrickcain2 Some one must turn this into a meme. John Trent Lauphs at MK Annialation, John Tent lauphs at Full Metal Jacket. John Tent Lauphs at that weird scean from Transformers 3( You Know the One). And Last but not least John Trent lauphs at The Lion King. Someone with edditing skills steal this idea Now.

  • @Rasengan9000ttt Don't forget the Langoliers and/or On Deadly Ground lol

  • @Rasengan9000ttt Follow this person's grand advise. I would do it, but I don't have any editing skills.

  • 1:05 IMAO

  • OMG! this is the movie I'm looking for years! this is the movie that scared the shit out of me when i was a little kid... OMG OMG! this is so scary still until now...

  • my take on the ending was he lost his shit because the world had ended. Also did you hear the sound before the credits roll ? that was him changing into one of the monsters.

Never viewed the ending as him realizing he was a character, it was him realizing the human race was done for . And him giving up.

  • Such child hood memories!

    Beautiful ending!!

  • Did i tell you my favrite color is blue

  • I like this movie but just a question : can we really get some free pop corn when we become mad ? Because it's just great... and crazy >.<

  • good ending

  • i wish lovecraft would have watch this

  • As Murnau made a free interpretation of Bram Stoker's Dracula for his film Nosferatu, and this way make it great, keeping the essence of the story, and put all is skills . Carpenter made the same way with Lovecraft, among his career, not only this one but that's the best example. He took some great details of the one of Providence to make movies, with dark forces hides behind the bad.

  • I can't stop to think to this ending. First, maybe yes I am a found of cinema, and two that's just the best ending I ever saw, not a stupid cliffhanger. But the better one, and who make me feel really strange long time after.

  • i liked the book better :P

  • @KyleGibbons91 Is your comment a reference to The Thing?

  • 1 person read the book.

  • Why added the movie end ?

IT should better let everyone see the Hole movie...GET INSANE..and then see the end ;)

One of the best movie that represent H.P Lovecraft stories ;)

  • WIN!!

  • He's laughing and then starts crying because he finally realises he's fiction, a created character. And he's only become real because sutter has managed to break the barriers of our reality and make contact with monstrosities that are outside our reality, becoming their "king"

Opening up the way for them to enter our world through his work, which is increasingly becoming impowered to tear away at the seems holding our reality together. Powered by our imaginations when we read or view his work.

  • @tenjenk Yeah, Lovecraft was fucking obsessed with the occult, that kind of shit is found in those clubs.

  • He smiles just as the agent in The Matrix 2 or 3!

  • Somehow, I find that emergency broadcast extremely unsettling, especially when he talks about people mutating and not to trust any friends or family members. Up there with Sam Neill's quote about extinction. For those of you that don't recall it, it goes like this:

"Every species can smell its own extinction. The last ones left won't have a pretty time with it. In 10 years, maybe less, the human race will just be a bedtime story for the children. A myth, nothing more."

    I memorized that.

  • This is the single greatest accomplishment in motion picture history.

  • Why the hell did he buy popcorn?

  • @TheSilverAce It's a movie !!

That look so natural, and the way he bring it is so funny !!

  • @TheSilverAce why not to eat while watching?

  • @TheSilverAce becuase he ralized the world had gone to shit and thought that gettibng popocorn was the least of his worries

  • VERY, VERY nice movie!

the whole story with the book that drives people crazy and John Trent

slowly going crazy himself is really awesome!

  • What do you mean, "becoming" insane? He already is insane. He's just realized how hopeless it is.

  • @Yorgelayheehoo the whole movie was probably about his insanity.

  • great movie

  • you should have let the song, it rules :(

  • if you look closely, you'll notice his laughter becomes insanity-laced sobs of despair

  • dddduuuuuuuuuhhhh....Do ya think so???

  • well from reading some comments some people just see him laughing

  • He's laughing because he's becoming insane.

  • no shit sherlock XD

  • this is how i felt watching Transformers 2.

  • u cant see it very well but one of the people in the background has abnormally long arms, are those people mutated or just looting?

  • Whoa never seen this movie before, but it looks bizzare as fuck! Wanna see it now =)

  • Weiß jemand wer dsas am Ende denn song gemacht hat?

  • My very favorite movie..Carpenter rocks

  • sam neil for THE RIDDLER

  • the ending is strange how it breaks the fourth wall but breaks it into reality so proving that the fiction is reality it stell weirds me out

  • dude, shut up

  • This film is my fave of all time, this ending is just fucking brilliant

  • theres a book by lovercraft called at the mountain of madness which i hear is similar

  • Oh, nono.

The Mountain of Madness, while dealing with as mind shattering stuff as this movie, is quite different, dealing with an archaeological expedition to the south pole, and what... disturbing things they find there. But this movie is heavily inspired by Lovecrafts writing.

    <3

  • Is this a REAL book? I mean, like, its a movie based on a novel?

  • So he's like the character in the book or something?

  • this movie gave me nightmares..but then I was only 13 at the time hahha....definitely scarier than anything they have now..

  • This is where i got my You-tube name from. Its like a 360 of the bible."this is not reality","this is reality" and all the people transforming to creatures of darkness at the end rather than light. thats what he was in the process of doing at the end when going insane. Thats what i got out of it. Imagine it reversed. Thats Apocalypse. Thanks for posting it !

  • god !!!!

  • I love that he gets himself a good serving of popcorn before he sits down to watch the film that destoyed humanity.

  • I haven't seen this in years. One of the best mind fuck films I have ever seen.

  • He discovered that he, himself, is a character of a book

  • @Paboll but how can a character from a book be real? I don't get the end of the movie pls explain in details!

  • @LucaTurilli89 when you get the answer can you tell me I said the same thing I've watch this movie about ten time still don't get it but I like

  • @11fuckn9 It's science fiction. Basically, reality is only what we believe it to be. If that changes, reality changes.

  • so in the end, he watches the movie about himself...?

  • Aye.

  • and thats all becaue of the book that that author wrote...that brought out his twisted reality upon the earth?

  • During the 13 days of Halloween marathon on Sci-Fi, I managed to catch the last few minutes of this and I couldn't figure out for the life of me why Sam Neil started laughing and then was crying. I've gotta try and see this whole film...it looks interesting.

My biggest question is this...can he undo what has happened?

  • He cannot undo what he did. This is the reality :)

  • Aw man. Hey, I just checked this movie out and it was off da' chain! Maybe it can be grounds for a sequel in which a group finds Trent and he explains to them what is happening...but his character has gotta be so crazy that nobody will understand him. What do you think?

  • I think you should try out the shotgun mouthwash.

  • Sounds like a plan. But I don't think a sequel will really be possible though nor really necessary. I mean, it'd be kinda hard to pick up where it left off after the ending.

  • @sabre926 He realised that he was a fictional character and all his action where scripted from the very beginning, an wicked take on fate.

  • @ACruelPicture

Kinda like the Silent Hill games or those other survival horror games with the surprise twist. Thanks ACruelPicture! :)

  • i dont get the end...some1 explain y ppl were killign each other and y the guy was laughing so hard...

  • You need to watch this film from start to the end. Then you'll understand it. Simple.

  • i think it is that the people who watch the film go crazy...right?

  • Absolutely.

  • This Movie Is PSYCHODRAMATIC.I LOVE THIS. CARPENTER IS THE MAN,IF YALL LIKE THIS YALL WILL LIKE (THEY LIVE)If Yall Remember. Its On Here. The Whole Movie....Check Out Carpenters Old Work It Out.But This One Is Classic

  • the first time I saw this I was on acid, it really freaked me out, love it

  • Ya, a dam good movie, and one of sam neil's best.

  • This is the best horror movie ever.

  • Great ending. I wish someone would put the whole movie up.

  • A typical Lovecraft ending and trust me.....it's a good thing....

  • Yes sesslerfan, but it's not just the ending. Lovecraft would have loved this movie if he had lived to see it.

  • @sesslerfan at least he lived, well insane, but then again most players prefer that ending for their character unless you are sadist. In that case you go with insanity and death :) Why we do that don't know

  • yeah dude, my friend and i are convinced that our former boss laughed like that when he painfully realized his tyranny was over, he then promptly quit; which was also awesome. this clip pretty much similily sums up a dead-end job. similie-ly... or somethin'
