is yours a newer one with the effect loop. or is the old one with the main in jacks. basically i have a multi effects pedal and want to run it in stereo. how do i do that? if i run it through the loop with distortion would the drive loose its sound through a loop? thanks. you sound great!
My apologies if you have been asked this before. By the look of it you have your guitar plugged in via a 1/4 cable, then the sound comes out stereo because of the 20ms delay effect on both speakers, i know this much, however (besides the delay and trusty 57's) what was the other equipment you used going through to make this incredible sound. Such as: Pre-amps, Audio Interface and so on? Would Be much appreciated, a great VID. Please keep posting, this is awesome. :-)

@777jordan there is actually a slight delay (about 10-20ms or so) between the left and right channels. This helps add the 'spacial' widening of the stereo effect. The more the delay, the 'wider' the stereo chorus effect (many famous choruses, such as the 2290, had this parameter as an adjustment). In theory, if the two channels were perfectly in sync, it would be mono!
@777jordan The JC-120 is designed to play a static unaffected signal out of the left speaker, and the right speaker plays the modulated signal. The "Stereo" effect is actually an aural illusion. That's why many JC's have two outputs on the back: "Left" and "Right (Effect)".
wow, the JC120 has the *best* distorted tone out of any solid-state guitar amplifier i've EVER heard. bar none - i would NEVER own a solid state amp, but this video definitely vouches for the JC120's rep. awesome tone, man!
I'm thinking about getting this amp and i'm hearing problems about distortion. Can anyone give me a heads up about this amps distortion (if they make newer models of it)? If the distortion isn't good, then I'm probably not gonna go for it.
I borrowed 1 back in the 80's when my G-K RL250 went in the shop. It was a close 2nd, and I was thinking of using a JC-120 for a practice amp. And for smaller stage gigs. Yes, I am still rockin' since 1972. Thx for info!
very cool sound :-)

what exactly makes the stereo chorus stereo? Is it the same sound coming out of both speakers?

@MusicalDarkHorse so the one speaker is completely wet? There's no dry signal at all?
777jordan 3 months ago
@777jordan YES. One side is 'wet', the other is 'dry'. Otherwise it wouldn't be stereo chorus.

I always liked JC 120s. Not as characterful as my twin, but it has a dynamite clean tone and plenty of power.

@segintendorocks From my experience, it was pretty awful distortion. But then again, I'm a tube distortion sort of guy.

Cool sound. What kind of distortion did you use? It's most likely not the built-in one.
My JC-120 is 35 years old now - maybe they have replaced the distortion one day, because mine really sucks.

I love my JC 120 but the distortion sucks. I use Boss Heavy Metal pedal for distortion.

You also have a delay going there, in that rack presumably in the eff loop. What else you hiding in there?
ranjmaan 5 months ago

Bought my Roland JC-120 over 24 years ago from a friend in Germany. Used to play at TOM'S in Einseidlorhof and on the military circuit .
Now my 16 year old son and his friend use it.
