Should have won multiple Oscars - Jeff Bridges, Rosie Perez, Peter Weir, Best Original Soundtrack, and Best Picture. Most unerrated, overlooked film since I began watching movies in mid-60's.
i put this expecting Jet Li, but looky at what we have it's my favorite actor Jeff from Starman no1 film, i hope this is good now that i have started it!?
Corn field scene is very similar to a music video which I couldnt remember neither the singer nor song. Does anyone know that? He was a black singer and singing a song while crossing thourogh the corn field and there were a plane crash.
I see you have stretched out the video from 4:3 to 16:9, it says on IMDB that the movie was filmed in 1.85:1, meaning closer to 16:9. What happened to the sides, did you cut them away?
Along with Witness and Truman Show, this is one of my favorite movies. I love Peter Weir's ability to set a mood, atmosphere and overall tactile feel in these films.
@Japaneseanimeguy Then learn how to read and bother to take the time to find what you're looking for. Fearless the movie you're looking for was made in an entirely different year. =/
@EverlasingEgypt How many videos and searches do you think I did? I thought there'd be an off chance that this might be what I spent so much time looking for. And I don't know what year this episode was made and I don't know the year Fearless was made. If I knew it probably wouldn't have helped though. Too damn hard to watch good movies online.
Jeff Bridges deserved an Oscar for this role. Peter Weir---Maurice Jarre---Jeff Bridges---Isabella Rosselini---John Turturro---even Rosie Perez is wonderful. I agree that this is a masterpiece. This movie instantly came to my mind when my Delta flight lost all hydraulic fluid on July 31, 2008. Thank God we were being pushed back from the gate before departure, and not in the air. I was not a good flyer before, but I always felt completely calm after that incident. Peace:-)
Great movie, I've watched it many times, about a man who has psychologically passed through death and behaves as though he was an "angel". Not an angel as in good so much as in brutally honest. I love how whenever he has to compromise his fearless honesty when he's confronted with reality and messy human affairs he goes on a panic attack and has to "recharge" his integrity with death-defying behavior.
A masterpiece, the most underated movie of all time.... And Jeff Bridges....he should have gotten his first Oscar for this one...He is my #1 actor, and he is so hot in this movie....
Saw it for the 1st time yesterday. Luckily I didn't read about it before I watched it. It wouldve lessened the impact of the film I think. Cause when it came on, I thought Jeff Bridges was an angel or alien. He seemed so out of place in the ruins. Especially when the guy asked him if he was in the crash. When he said 'No', I was really scratching my head. I like when movies don't have to explain every damn thing and let you go along for the ride. This movie trusts in intelligent audiences.
I havent seen "Crazy Heart" yet, but everything Ive seen about it so far indicates that I will love it. Im a big Jeff Bridges fan and think he is long overdue for an Oscar. I think he was robbed in not getting at least a nomination for "Fearless", as I think that is flat out one of the greatest performances by ANY actor. If I made a list of my personal alltime top 5 favorite performances, "Fearless" would probably be one of them. So Ill be rooting for Jeff this year, and I think he will get it.
I agree. Starman was fantastic. He was good in The Fabulous Baker Boys, not so many people liked it but I loved his performance in it and his chemistry he had with Beau, his brother.
i dont have any children, but when jeff gave that womens baby to her,i felt like nothing i ever felt before, the love and the sadness that i will never have any of my own
I felt the same way. And I felt as if my heart was being ripped out of me when you see Rosie Perez's character being yanked from the burning plane as she's trying to go back in for her baby.
agreed. this film drove me into being a filmmaker. I've never seen Gorecki's 3rd so marvelously put into film and the car crash scene with "where the streets have no name" always leaves me shaking afterwards.. I saw it in 93 and thought: this is why films exist
Completely agree. Underrated masterpiecce that brings so many deeply human themes into it. Great acting, great craft.....Nobody who sees this film is unaffected. The car crash scene really stuck in my head from the very first time I saw it and it still gets me
do yourself a favour, and watch this movie....it is one of the best movies ever made.
Some of the most powerfull acting and scenes ever, are in this movie...the group counseling scene leaves a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye every time i watch it
bigal838, just wanteded to completely agree with you. I went to the theatre with no expectations and sat in my chair at the end and was stunned. Such an underrated movie.
Thanks for putting this up! What a great movie... a deep gem. When the music comes on in the car (Sin Ella - The Gypsy Kings), you want to be the one behind the wheel of that car! I wonder how many people have watched the movie on ipods & laptops while flying? I was thinking of the actress Debra Monk (his old girlfriend who he visits after the crash) and ended up watching the whole thing again. I have the DVD too - but it's great having it here to pass on to friends who are about to travel ; ]
The movie is on Enlightenment.Just like this.

Absolutely a masterpiece. The entire cast is excellent. Both Jeff Bridges and Rosie Perez deserve more than an Oscar for this one.

Why?
Jeff Bridges (great actor and great in this)
The crash scene is absolutely freaky

The first time I saw this in a theater back in '93 the ending just TORE ME UP (cried)!!!
After it was over, I couldn't talk for about a half hour.
Whenever I recommend this movie to anyone, I tell them:
At the point towards the end of the movie where he looks at his wife and says,
" I need you to save me. "
Don't go anywhere. The kitchen, the bathroom, etc. Just sit there and take it in.
IT WILL BLOW YOU AWAY.
