  • cool video...lol at the end :)

  • I kind of wish I had gone to Art school, but this makes me feel better about being a self taught real world artist. I am involved in the New Hampshire Art Association, and am afraid of the "politics" in art. Why do I get criticised for my education, yet juried for my talent?

  • I went to a fine art university for 4 years in the drawing & painting program. It was the closest thing I could get to Illustration without going into the Design program, and it was... interesting, to say the least. People had very strange ideas about illustration and design.

  • As you pointed out Andy Warhol, and also Escher, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Mucha they hang in national museums are they Fine art or Graphic Design?

  • LOL, LOL, LOL, LOL, LOL, LOL, Love the ending!

  • Graphic Design is Visual Communication, pure and simple.

  • LOL after that last guy's ambitions for graduation, im not becoming a graphic designer :DD, lol nah jk, the dream is still alive..being unemployed out of your garage will suck though..

  • I was pretty decent Graphic Designer, And I had no experience in drawing. I just had to keep mind what elitist graphic designers frowned upon. I quit though.

  • noone who is decent goes on youtube and writes a comment like that. i'm sure you suck ass! you're a noname like all the other millions of designers who work in random crappy agency's doing random crap work!

  • wow way to put down those millions of designers trying to make a living. Don't worry 'bout me, like I mentioned before, im not a graphic designer.

  • Graphic Design in 10 years from now, will not exist, anyone is going to be able to become a graphic designer, just by buying the softwares and putting effort to know the basics. And it will not be graphic designer, but Graphic Artist or Graphic Art, or Artist. And that's it!!! But still, companies will hire creative dudes!!! To be honest, if a painter sells a painting for 3000 dllrs in just one piece, who is more intelligent? The designer or the artist?

  • Do you know how many months it took that fine artist to paint that 3000 painting? And how often the fineartist is able to sell a painting? Everyone is all ready able to buy all the software, have been for 10 years or more.

  • doesn't matter how long it takes to do, graphic design can be drawn - that could take a while.

  • Graphic design is NOT just about software.

  • p my bro ...my frens every1 was RIGHT! being an artist means ruining ur life! i guess i have to stop dreaming and giving up my dream 2 become an artist !!! sobs sobs**

  • you dumb asses the say drawing is unnessacary for a graphic artist, everything i do with my art i draw out then edit in photoshop

some times i use pure computer

    but still stfu

lol i really liek this video

  • I do extactly the same ;) First I draw in real life, then I edit

  • graphic design is advertising. fine art is art. there is def a mixture but its not the same

  • Graphic design is more than just advertising, you should learn about the topic you are commenting on before actually posting a comment.

  • you're fucking idiot Andrew. Do you work in advertising? Oooo.......Nooo you don't you faggy band geek. Ooo are you an artist? Noo you're faggy band geek.

  • graphic design is not advertising. it IS used in advertising occasionally. not the same though. i know - i DO that.

  • can this talent post sales!

  • It's not rocket science. Graphic designers create work for other people while artist create work for themselves (or at least they try to).

  • @glenyeo but fine artists also create work for a reponse so therefore making work for other people.

  • oh guy below when will you learn !! ammmmmmm

  • Graphic design is not a fine art. It as an applied art. Most of the opinions here are made by obviouse FINE ART students that will never make any money or LIFE with their work. See you all at Walmart stoogies.

  • Actually their is a pretty even mix of traditional fine art majors and graphic design majors. Many of these students have since graduated and landed great jobs.

  • @guyute4220 Wow rude comment and I don't even know anything about Art besides that I draw lol ..but that sounds so rude ... : P -hug- calm down ....-gives you cookie XD

  • its sad that theyre all "UMM" when it comes to job part.

  • I think thats an awesome idea to blur the lines and removed these pre-disposed ideas that fine graphic design can't be fine art...

    thanks!

  • i wouldn't call graphic design corporate crap. give it more credit than that. It probably does more good for society than fine art does. graphic design has the power to bring about social awareness. art can be very selfish

  • doug crites you are BRILLIANT!

  • i could swear he said corn...

what the fuck does corn have to do anything with graphics design

  • haha i think he said porn lol!:) its compulsory 4 graphic designers to take life drawing classes *eesh!* ...i do

  • I do too.

  • I'm halfway through my design course now, and more than ever I really feel like I want to work with something that allows for more emotional, sensual, atmospheric, stimulating communications. But then, I guess that's not appropriate in so many design contexts, like information design. Hmmm, isn't this confusing?

  • This has the potenitial to be really cool...bunch of cool artsy type of people commented on the medium...good looking girls and overall good edits and presentation. The level of the background should be turned down 3 notches under the dialogue...and at the statment pages (purple) raised slightly... remix it!!! please...A+ for creativity

  • I'm studying to become a graphic designer and i think now i wanna do fine art.

  • Nice video, enjoyed it, Id like to see a follow up with the same people a year or so after graduation to see if anything changes.

  • Good job on the backround music that blurs what they say...

  • thanks it is blur, i wouldn't have guessed that you would have known.

  • did he say porn?

  • "ive heard that before..."

  • ha wait no. i heard it the second time. he did say porn. hrmm. fine artists arnt sluts...

  • yes he did say porn because a lot of people think that figure drawing is porn :) and it's nothing like it!!!
