Omg. while i think this routine was great, the more they give her standing ovations, the more melissa is going to expect them and the easier judges will give them to her. this is ridiculous, if this continues, standing ovations won't even have the same meaning anymore.

I feel like everyone's going to hate Melissa because Blake stepped on the toes of Melanie's fanbase. I think within contemporary we have to acknowledge that people have different subgenres. Melanie takes her time with movement, whereas Melissa is more of a power based dancer. Obviously is your in the top 20. or whatever, you CAN dance. but did you MISS the beginning of EVERY SYTYCD canada, us uk, episode where ever? The host says EVERY time, weather it be Leah or Cat, America's/Canada's FAVORITE dancer. This show is about so much more then the best dancer technically. People can vote however they want, that cant say americans best dancer, cause there all good, its there favorite dancer.
@joker80james Yes and every single episode one of the judges mentions how important it is to vote on the dancing. Do you think it's fair for people to give shitty dances and still make it through if someone else gives a killer performance and has to go home. I get tired of seeing messages like "I hate who ever" or "I voted but I didn't get a chance to see the dances though". A crap dance is a crap dance I don't care how sweet you are. Vote on the dance anything else is unfair.

Melissa and Melanie has different strength and weaknesses in their style. Let us remember that. Both of them have been lucky to get their genre..that's their luck. It's early to tell how far Melissa will go but she's guarantee top ten alongside Adam. Adam if willing, will continue to get stronger and stronger. Despite the comments and comparison, never take away the beautiful piece that Sabrina created and that Melissa and Adam danced their soul & heart on this. That deserves worthy praises
I agree with Blake. I Loved Melanie but honestly I picked Sasha to win over her because Sasha was the more versatile dancer. Melissa is a beast because she commits to everything and as someone already pointed out Melanie got different dances but they were either meh or contemporary based. Every genre that Melissa has danced in was 100% what that dance was supposed to be. It wasn't a soft lyrical hip hop, or water down ballroom it was legit.
Alsoto speak on the waltz of Melanie and Pasha. It was choreographed by Jason Gilkinson who is known for fusing other styles into his work (sytycd au). And mels hip hops may not have been as hard hitting as in canada but no one had hard hitting hip hop in america this season until tadd and joshua. And the tango is a latin ballroom dance. and her broadway was vaudeville inspired. IM NOT DEFENDING JUST SAYING HOW IT IS LOL.
@melodysmelody The tango is not a Latin ballroom dance. It's a standard ballroom dance. Argentine Tango is another category in itself. It doesn't fit into the Latin/Standard world. Melanie never did a Latin dance on the show.
@vsoltero88 the tango or tango criollo is a latin ballroom dance since it is orginated in Uruguay which is right next to Argentina. Latin country , latin dance. sounds legit to me lol
@melodysmelody One of the subdivisions of the same wiki page gives a list of what's considered latin ballroom and what's considered straight ballroom and Tango isn't in Latin Ballroom it's considered straight ballroom so @vsoltero88 is correct. Geographic's have nothing to do with it since it also says that the Tango has influences from European and African cultures.

Who in turn watched the performance and said "they didnt exactly do a tango but there is an american style here that they are using". at the end of the day it doesnt matter who wins or loses. i canct vote for the canadian show or the american sooo my opinions and words are invalid.
first off THIS WAS AMAZING. second ADAM imo IS LAST MAN STANDING. On to this debate. Lets all remember that its whats been pulled out the hat so its random. Melanie may not have ventured out as much as other contestant but that doesnt mean she had a hard time picking up choreography (alot on the cutting room floor) . I do think Melissa is a beast as well as Melanie but i believe they possess two different kinds of beasting. So for me I would never compare the two but wish they would do a vs ep
I like Melissa more then Mel that's for sure, I dont like that Mel never did latin ballroom, she was in her comfort zone alot, I have seen Melissa shake it up with hip hope and latin. I loved this dance, i loved that Adam got to show off his skill and be so strong, he wows me and I am just in love with his spins. I cant wait for solos to see his and his amazing jazz. I wanted him to make top 10 now I really want him to make top 4.

I agree that the comparison with Melanie was uncalled for. But I think you're overstating Melanie's versatility. She had 10 contemporary/jazz dances, plus a bad tango, a waltz that had a lot of contemporary, a hip hop that was more jazz, a meh hip hop with Twitch and a bad disco. That's a 2:1 ratio. Nigel called her the best dancer ever by week 3 and was praised to the heavens from the get go, even more than Melissa. That said, she's a hell of a contemporary dancer (better than Melissa IMO).
Melissa and Adam absolutely bought the house down with this piece. I think it's one of Sabrina's best works and Adam really stepped up with his performance and Melissa was absolutely marvelous in this piece. They have set the standard for the rest. Although five times on standing ovation may be a bit much, it is still a pretty powerful piece and as for Blake's comments, not like he's dissing Melanie. Melanie had a few contemporary pieces during the competition. However it was uncalled for.
As much as I love Melissa, the gushing of the judges has to stop. Playing favourites changes the dynamic of the group... honestly, how do they think they made the other dancers feel?
Oh. And ohmygosh. The comment you mentioned in the description was ridiculous, and completely uncalled for, ESPECIALLY this early in the season. Melissa has so much to live up to in these next few weeks!
