  • Not Marvin, but the best we have now... On YOUTUBE Marvin will live in Cyberspace forever, and be watched for many, many generations. The 60's produced MASTERS of Music, and it is finally being noted 50 years later.

  • Ugh! Nowhere near Marvin's level...legend had to lower the tone of the song by alot just to sing it. I have yet to see anyone sing it at the level of Marvin

  • So John Legend is talking to grapes again.

  • type in Layefa's wave summerjoy

  • Greg Phillinganes!!! on keyboard

  • LEGEND

  • Goosebumps D:

  • that crowd is SUPER dead

  • LOL at all the bobbing heads in the audience!!!!

  • ccr recorded this song way before marvin gaye. and they didn't even write the damn thing. this song is old as balls.

  • @jiggahuh91 "Written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong in 1966, the single was first recorded by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles. Released on September 25, 1967 by Gladys Knight & the Pips who recorded the third version of the song, it has since become a signature song for singer Marvin Gaye, who recorded his version of the song prior to the Pips' but released it after theirs on October 30, 1968 Creedence Clearwater Revival released their version of the song in 1970."

  • Shit! I think I like the rehearsal better! LOL!

  • Yuck. No feeling whatsoever.

  • classic performance!

  • Props!! John Legend is "Awesome." Marvin would be proud!I

I thoroughly enjoyed this special presentation. It was a very fast hour, as everyone did a wonderful job. Here's to having a young "hip" President and cheers to PBS!!

  • His voice is somethin special <3

  • A LEGEND!

  • He's awesome!!! Love it!

  • I dug the PBS Motown at the White House and wished it was two hours instead of just one. Initially I was thrilled to see John Legend was slated to appear and anticipated what he would tackle. I dig him & his musical direction and yeah, he was "Mr. Cool" during this song. But I found it a very disappointing walk through. He brought nothing new to the song, like other performers did. I wished he would have sung "What's Going ON" but maybe that was too "in your face" for the President.

  • Solid performance again from John Legend, he looks so comfortable - thanks to Marvin's many examples of solid performances.

  • My husband. :) Fantastic job baby!!

  • Love it!!! :) Could you please upload all the other performances?

  • Thank you all for a great PUBLIC SERVICE! To think someone actually wants to cut funding for PBS!

  • Thank you all for a great PUBLIC SERVICE! Tto think someone actually wants to cut funding for PBS!

  • They have THE most kick ass performance series with the current Administration at the White House. I really enjoy the wide range of performance arts they've embraced from Paul McCartney to the Motown Sound, and even poetry slams for the hipsters. I will ALWAYS love my traditional and classical arts performers, but it's also nice to see contemporary music and arts embraced as well. Very fresh, indeed! And kudos to Legend, he did a wonderful job here.

  • Fantastic. Marvin we miss you. RIP.

  • Legend doing justice to the original...

  • LOVE IT!

  • fantastic
