@sanjathefabulous He killed british cars. the british car jeremy killed are: Morris Marina, Triumph Tr7, Austin Maestro, Rover 200, Rover 100, Mk2 Jag, Vauxhall astra, Vauxhall carton, and i'm pretty sure he destoryed a old land Rover.
Clarkson is an ass. A 2cv is a minimalist's delight. Just because HE needs a car to assuage his feelings of penile inadequacy,it doesn't mean we ALL do...
Everyday, Jeremy Clarkson destroys thousands of innocent automobiles. For some cars, they are rescued. But for some, help comes too late. Donate 10 EUR to save an automobile, and we, the Automobile Lovers Association, will send you a picture of a rescued automobile. Put a stop to automobile cruelty, please.
*shakes head*. they're beautiful cars. 7000+ of them met in France last month; and none of them fell apart. Also I've had a few friends have serious crashes with them and survive. so yeah; less of the flimsy
@Enosh74, My Yugo was destroyed in the riots of 1995, in the beggining of december. I had one for a few weeks (My parents gave me a Fiat Cinquecento for christmas) and it does not break arms. It was full of sense to drive.
@Ferrari73703 That's interesting. I don't actually know much about them, I just knew they were the butt of many a car joke like the Ford Pinto, Chevy Corvair, or any Hyundai prior to 2007. On a side note, my world history is incomplete. Where was there a riot in 1995?
I used to Call these cars traveling deckchairs LOL i still do i mean look at the roof colours on this car youll see why and they were so filmsy look like they were made from tin horrible car
Jeremy could not have said it better when describing this hidious car , The french should stop embarresing themselfs with there pieces of shit citreons and concentrate on being smelly and hairy , they are good at that , not car manufacturing
The Citroen 2cv is a enginering masterpiece . It's cheap, easy to repair, comfortable, lightweight, unique design and just the right amount of power. Jeremy doesn't know shit about cars. He has never restored or repaired a car and does not even know how a engine works.
@digireedoo I am afraid not, because a well maintained 2cv has not those problems. Moreover, we are talking about a light vintage car which weights around 650kg so that is not a heavy car, so it has not to be compared with any heavy car (like most of u.s. cars). It has been produced from 1948 to 1990.All people who have this car nowadays are really enjoying it. Ask them, and you will that this car is not like described in the video. the guy in the video is lying to justify his waste.
and would good reason why such an abomination like this is rotting in automotive hell i mean comon LOL almost like that thing was made by a bunch of hippies

he is completel;y wrong with it being stupid! this was the car that gave citron all its success in the 60's! this car practically put citron on the motoring map!
I had one as my first car. It was the most unreliable car money could buy. It regularly refused to start, it kept losing parts of the bodywork, and I once even lost the complete roof on a windy day! But it was so much fun to drive, when it worked. It had a lot of character.
Just don't blame JC here, blame the general public. That general public ignored the original TopGear alltogether. Only when Clarckson made it into a car destroy show, people started watching.
I'm not saying the 2cv is a prefect car... the chassis is quite strong, but get hit by a truck (higher than the chassis) and you will be instantly crushed to death :(
Although Citroen failed to market it outside france, this was a better car than the beetle. Soft roof, funny classic look, small engine, huge tires compared to the tiny weight (the car is fantastic on snow), comfortable suspension, and whatever Jeremy might say, you can corner at 120 kmh(the top speed--actually achievable, enough for motorway use, too much for any other road), as much as it might lean you wont hear a tire squeak or flip it.
@voraistos After personally driving a 1965 2cv and a '75 Beetle I disagree with that, the Beetle has better handling, a sense of power when you hit the gas, and Beetles have very durable bodys, 2CVs are very light and flimsy. 2CVs do lean alot but its more funny then anything.
@voraistos That would be more fair with 75s having bigger engines, but they still handle the same right? I didnt mind that 2CVs lean but them being 4 door FWDs I couldnt corner very tightly, even at low speeds. Here in the states there arent very many 2CVs at all, but I do regard the 2CV as being much better then the 70's VW Vans, I drove one of those and... well they're roomy, but thats it.
@Ryoku75 to be honest i neither have a 2cv or a beetle to compare them now, however I always thought the 2cv has great handling (better than the beetle, but I don't remember which model I drove), better than many fairly recent low-price range cars. Usually the limit of cornering with that car is the driver's fear of the extreme leaning (and flipping the car). A problem regarding handling on a 2cv is that it's so light, it "takes off" quite easily on a bumpy road resulting in loss of the grip.
@Ryoku75 Then of course there's also what you can count as handling. If controlled oversteer is one of them, then obviously the beetle gets some points there. I mean as far as I know, getting a 2cv to oversteer involves hitting the brakes hard in a tight corner... Not to mention that, especially on a light car like that, front wheel drive is actually excellent for the handling. (understeer simply isn't possible, not without hitting the breaks hard anyway)
@voraistos The 2Cv I drove actually had the brakes stuck on in the rear a little so that may have fowled up the handling, though is the 2CV more durable then the Beetle in any way? The 2CV gets more points in fuel economy with the 425cc engines as they can get 50mpg, but they are terrible polluters and in crashes they fold like wet cardboard.
@Ryoku75 I find the 2cv quite durable... So I can't really compare 2cv and beetle on that point. 2CV parts can be hard to find though, And replacement headlamps can cost quite a lot of money (people steal them), the soft roof is obviously fragile and cn be expensive to replace too. apart from that, and the weird flaws the car can have, there's no problem (wipers work when you don't want them to, engine feels like doing a few revs a minute after stopping it) (EPIC imho ;) )
The thing is, You can actually correct all these flaws if you know what you're doing. Improve the engine so it pollutes less, replace the electrics. Another great thing about the 2cv is you can come back totally wasted from the pub, hit someone and NOT spend the rest of your life in prison for murder, but pay a fine for drink driving and slightly bruising another drunk guy when "I forgot to put the handbrake on after parking the car in the middle of the road". 2CVs pwn police investigations. ;)
@voraistos More like install some new electronics, though I prefer a simple car, and 2cvs have body panels that are easier to replace then a VWs. But have you yourself driven a 2CV or Beetle? If you havent, no big deal, they're rare antiques.
@Ryoku75 More like replace the wires and connectors ^^(2cv's dont come with electronics :P)(although you can get electronic ignition systems to improve performance and consumption) I've driven both, but really not enough the beetle to give a fair review of it. And i currently have no access to a beetle to compare (and nowadays all the beetles I see are heavily modified)
@voraistos Here in the states it varies with Beetles, theres some nice stock ones that sell resonably then theres your lowered chumps that sell for way too friggin much for being customs, the beetle I drove was stock aside from being fuel injected-gone carburated. Most stock beetles I see on the road or for sale while the custom junks usually at shows. When I drove a 2CV I wasnt afraid of the lean, but to be fair I didnt drive it very fast so it didnt lean too much, but fast it wouldnt scare me.
@Ryoku75 It doesn't surprise me. VW sold well in america, and the beetle was still produced until not so long ago in mexico. I don't know why anyone would buy a hitlermobile (especially hippies). The best place to look for classic cars that last is africa. I actually met a guy in zimbabwe who thought the guy who designed the peugeot 404 had been shot for building such a good car :P Classic mercs are incredibly popular there too
@voraistos I've wondered why Hippies disregarded the Beetles history too, though for the record it was made by Dr.Porsche and copied from Tatra cars, all Hitler did was ask for it, Im certain he was more pleased with his Mercedes. Its best to ugnore the history of things if you want to be satisfied with him, one of the guys responsible for Felix the cats success was a drunk sex maniac (Pat Sullivan), but it was Otto Messmer that created Felix.
@voraistos poor africans. they use to get amazingly built classic mercs like the w126 and w123 when the americans (such as myself) were done with them, but now all the get is rusty beaten geo trackers. poor poor africans. : (
0:07 I think this bitch is high, listen. Rat poison and ACID. A driven a 2cv not the best in the world but it was a humble little car and I was allowed to bring it on a go kart race track...because it was so slow and on corners. Turn violently at 25mpg and you'll have the time of your life on a twisty country road leaning with body roll like mad.
@slatinaciccio They're not the best neighbours in Europe. I own two Citroen ZX, the 1.4i and the 1.9D and they're really surprisingly good cars. Reliable and well made, I've seen much more expensive Volkswagens and other brands falling to pieces. And my Citroens just keep on running, taking a beating year after year.
i own this car and i love it. jeremy, you've just killed a symbol of freedom . why all cars are fast and luxurious. Drive a 2cv, enjoy a lot more of the landscape.
seriously, it was made in the 60s. It was a cheap thing to carry 4 persons (I´m 2m tall and can sit in it nicely) and their luggage, and has an open roof! it´s a funny little thing.
@Schizm1 True, the beetle being a legendary car dosen't make up for its slow acceleration and occasional fires. Then we have the Delorean which looks cool but reliablity was bad despite having a Volvo engine.
I am not sure I do get this joke......Jeremy might otherwise have a pretty good sense of humor...but here I have to admit I am lost. This car was built for a purpose of affordable motoring after WWII and it did just that rather well considering it was produced until 1990. I have had several of these 2CV during my student years and this was a great car, reliable, affordable , cheap ti fix good on gas and cheap to insure what else to you want for the budget?
First off thats not TG - thats jeremy's "heaven and hell" DVD.
Second off, im an american, so the 2cv never existed here so i have no way to say how bad or good it is. However, i can assume it was like a VW beetle or bus was to us. Good for simple transportation, but any other way utterly useless vehicles that looked - well, not the best. He may have been a little cruel, but thats clarkson - over the top.
PS stop whining about it getting smashed. it was funny, and thats the point.
it would be so awesome if someone put a turbocharged V6 in that same car and posted a video of it beating a ferrari. It's so lightweight that it probably could!
Lets see, stand on the edge of a road on a cold unpleasnt day , with luggage at your side and have a desprate need to go somewhere and you don't have a car! Insted of wrecking a qute odd looking functioning little car that has Proven itself by lasting for 30+ years give it someone who is needing good transportation! We Take the wonderfull machene's for granted! To get in any car ,sit reasonably comfortably and go somewhere without having to worry about the weather! A horse and Cart ? Dumass!
People seem to have forgotten that these Vehicles are amaizing! The paint job on the car in this Video wasn't my favorit! but the point was the little car was still functioning and for decades! This was just another example of intence pointless waste of a functioning usable mode of transportation! This Little Running Car would have looked pritty good to someone who can't afford to buy a car ! It just needed some TLC and a paint Job! That is Before the trash bin slamed into it!
Really? The 2CV is a legendary car that was made for people who's only need was simple basic transportation. It was adequately powered, very comfortable and reliable and had plenty of space for your average French family of the 1950s-1970s. You want a piece of junk? Go drive your overrated shitbox Toyota Corolla.
@jakemiller5000 but its underpowerd ugly slow no space insideway overpriced and its completeley defeated by hills. the toyota corolla is non of those its much better
The 2CV is a LEGEND. There are thousands of enthusiast clubs worldwide dedicated to it. How many Corolla clubs are there out there? A handful I would assume. The Corolla, like most Toyauto products, is an appliance built for people with no passion or soul. Give me a 2CV anyday over some overrated POS Corolla.
@jakemiller5000 but buying a 2cv shows that you dont care about style or life or going anywhere fast. buying a corolla shows that you know what your doing and you can be guarenteed to get to wherever your going in space and comfort.
this is a fantastic car...we drove one in the UK in 75...it was a cult car at the time

@Ryoku75 More like replace the wires and connectors ^^(2cv's dont come with electronics :P)(although you can get electronic ignition systems to improve performance and consumption) I've driven both, but really not enough the beetle to give a fair review of it. And i currently have no access to a beetle to compare (and nowadays all the beetles I see are heavily modified)
voraistos 1 year ago
@voraistos Here in the states it varies with Beetles, theres some nice stock ones that sell resonably then theres your lowered chumps that sell for way too friggin much for being customs, the beetle I drove was stock aside from being fuel injected-gone carburated. Most stock beetles I see on the road or for sale while the custom junks usually at shows. When I drove a 2CV I wasnt afraid of the lean, but to be fair I didnt drive it very fast so it didnt lean too much, but fast it wouldnt scare me.
Ryoku75 1 year ago
@Ryoku75 It doesn't surprise me. VW sold well in america, and the beetle was still produced until not so long ago in mexico. I don't know why anyone would buy a hitlermobile (especially hippies). The best place to look for classic cars that last is africa. I actually met a guy in zimbabwe who thought the guy who designed the peugeot 404 had been shot for building such a good car :P Classic mercs are incredibly popular there too
voraistos 1 year ago
@voraistos I've wondered why Hippies disregarded the Beetles history too, though for the record it was made by Dr.Porsche and copied from Tatra cars, all Hitler did was ask for it, Im certain he was more pleased with his Mercedes. Its best to ugnore the history of things if you want to be satisfied with him, one of the guys responsible for Felix the cats success was a drunk sex maniac (Pat Sullivan), but it was Otto Messmer that created Felix.
Ryoku75 1 year ago
@voraistos poor africans. they use to get amazingly built classic mercs like the w126 and w123 when the americans (such as myself) were done with them, but now all the get is rusty beaten geo trackers. poor poor africans. : (

0:07 I think this bitch is high, listen. Rat poison and ACID. A driven a 2cv not the best in the world but it was a humble little car and I was allowed to bring it on a go kart race track...because it was so slow and on corners. Turn violently at 25mpg and you'll have the time of your life on a twisty country road leaning with body roll like mad.

slatinaciccio 1 year ago
@slatinaciccio They're not the best neighbours in Europe. I own two Citroen ZX, the 1.4i and the 1.9D and they're really surprisingly good cars. Reliable and well made, I've seen much more expensive Volkswagens and other brands falling to pieces. And my Citroens just keep on running, taking a beating year after year.

seriously, it was made in the 60s. It was a cheap thing to carry 4 persons (I´m 2m tall and can sit in it nicely) and their luggage, and has an open roof! it´s a funny little thing.

Well, he's got a point. Beeing "legendary car" is not make it better. Just like the beetle
Schizm1 1 year ago 16
@Schizm1 True, the beetle being a legendary car dosen't make up for its slow acceleration and occasional fires. Then we have the Delorean which looks cool but reliablity was bad despite having a Volvo engine.
Ryoku75 1 year ago
Nope, Delorean had a Reanult engine
JerryMopar 1 year ago
@JerryMopar RENAULT ENGINE?!
The DMC DeLorean has a 2.8 litres V6, that Volvo actually made together with Renault AND Peugeot. So it's not just a Renault engine..

@Schizm1 Though atleast the Beetles a decent car, its not amazing, but its decent.

My dad used to drive one. But it was much more beautiful. It had that retro style. And it was reliable, you could drive it anywhere
DavidW894 1 year ago
Lets see, stand on the edge of a road on a cold unpleasnt day , with luggage at your side and have a desprate need to go somewhere and you don't have a car! Insted of wrecking a qute odd looking functioning little car that has Proven itself by lasting for 30+ years give it someone who is needing good transportation! We Take the wonderfull machene's for granted! To get in any car ,sit reasonably comfortably and go somewhere without having to worry about the weather! A horse and Cart ? Dumass!
frazzledgrey 1 year ago
People seem to have forgotten that these Vehicles are amaizing! The paint job on the car in this Video wasn't my favorit! but the point was the little car was still functioning and for decades! This was just another example of intence pointless waste of a functioning usable mode of transportation! This Little Running Car would have looked pritty good to someone who can't afford to buy a car ! It just needed some TLC and a paint Job! That is Before the trash bin slamed into it!

twomuchmonster 1 year ago
Really? The 2CV is a legendary car that was made for people who's only need was simple basic transportation. It was adequately powered, very comfortable and reliable and had plenty of space for your average French family of the 1950s-1970s. You want a piece of junk? Go drive your overrated shitbox Toyota Corolla.
jakemiller5000 1 year ago 2
@jakemiller5000 but its underpowerd ugly slow no space insideway overpriced and its completeley defeated by hills. the toyota corolla is non of those its much better
EXTREME4YEARSTOCOME 1 year ago
@EXTREME4YEARSTOCOME
The 2CV is a LEGEND. There are thousands of enthusiast clubs worldwide dedicated to it. How many Corolla clubs are there out there? A handful I would assume. The Corolla, like most Toyauto products, is an appliance built for people with no passion or soul. Give me a 2CV anyday over some overrated POS Corolla.
jakemiller5000 1 year ago
@jakemiller5000 but buying a 2cv shows that you dont care about style or life or going anywhere fast. buying a corolla shows that you know what your doing and you can be guarenteed to get to wherever your going in space and comfort.
