I Love it when people cry, "But this won't work in the UFC." LOOOL ..People that dedicate their life to Internal Martial Arts can ward off 99.9 percent of attackers on the street. So what if one big bafoon that dances around in a cage might eat someone like a tiger. The whole point of internal is to lose the EGO. The whole point of cage fighting seems to be, "how can I increase my ego." It reduces grown men to the status of Apes, and makes them look very pathetic with those cage shorts. haha!
@mastermind9113 : actually if you study Wing Chun, Hung Gar, any possible many other styles you will see similar tactics. Moreover, Taichi IS from Wudang, so why shouldn't it be like Tai Chi?

That guy was bullshit, the san da guy would have fucked him up with a combo. I do Taoist internal kung fu, but this is fantasy PRC garbage. His arms move in circles, but his fighting is linear. Taiji was from Chen village influenced by Taoist arts. Now all the taoist temples to Taiji as it came through yang style. Thats called reinvention. In that case, I am a knight in shining armour. Check out Chen Xiaowang on youtube, he's solid, not like these government employee sissies in beards.
Tai chi is a principle. which is expressed by mind, motion and breath(spirit). The form or style is not really an issue. Taoist follow the principle of the tao which is yin-yang principle(tai chi). He is just showing basic applications of the principle. He is not sparring.
Of course if the sanda guy were throwing more than one punch the sifu would have to use more than one block or more than one counter attack
but hes just demonstrating a principle
you should watch your tongue before sprouting off more of your self righteous bullshit. You are a knight in shining armor? please.. you're an idiot with access to a keyboard.
Actually I have used taoist internal techniques in full contact fighting. I take challenges here from people who don't think foreigners can do kung fu. I've used this stuff in MMA. He hasn't and you can see that he has no fighitng experience. He doesn't guard the other side of his body. The princible he is describing is correct, but its not linear and its not in the arm, its in the waist. He clearly doesn't know that. He blocks the kick rather than turning with the rotation of the kick.
It does not matter what you claim to have studied. Go to China and look for these reclusive masters. Dont tell them anything. Just suddenly attack them. Then show us what happens to you.
No I'm not stupid. I know that he is demonstrating a princible and clearly has never tested it or perfected it, his job is to play a character no different than goofy at Disney World. If you think I should watch my tongue, come shut it for me. You worship these beareded men on the mountain when most fo the real masters don't live on mountains. The guys you see make a living performing tricks for the uneducated and running camps for foreigners who think this is wudang pai.
stop whinning, you are just jealous that you are not the one being "worshipped" as you described. I know you are not stupid, you are just a hypocrite. ;)
some of his moves look a lot like yang style taiji. or at least they are similar to how we do them at my kwoon. (anyone who has asked to see someone else's taiji will know what I mean :P)
Mmmm.... Master Wang is not grounded in reality. The boxer is throwing a punch lightly(one punch) and leaving it out there and leaving himself open, this is just another silly demonstration of "how mystical" Chinese arts are supposedly. Complete garbage.
I don't think this is complete garbage, but leaving one self open and not pulling back punches is really too popular in demonstrations. No fighter would put all of his weight into one punch, especially not if he is the attacker. I will try out Tai Chi against punches, it works pretty well in a wrestling style fight already. Staying on your feed is really important there, but that's what Tai Chi is made for.
This was merely a demonstration. naturally he would not use this movement singularly. It is part of a combination. As you can tell he was deflecting the attack and getting prepared for attacking. This has been seen as highly effective and is most certainly not garbage.
Your right, check out Chen xiao wang and look up 8stepmantis on youtube. Two masters from Taoist lineages who move like athletes with power usually seen in animals.
There are various temples within the Wudang mountain range, each with its own sect. Wudang we know is the most influential. Within Wudang is Wudang the Taoist sect and the San Feng sect for kung fu. Sect is also a byword for schools within a sect.

This would be difficult as they are not publically known and they choose not to be known. You have to be there to learn and know.
