A few ignorant individuals decide to disrupt a wonderful family event like the Rose Parade and silly, useless, waste of the air they breathe use this as a medium to protest. Don't tell me about your right to protest or trash parks by "occupy ***" or any of that other BS. I have a right to be able to get to work without being harrassed or having to pay taxes for clean up of some park that was occupied or have people disrupt my family outing by this stupid display.
@tavereen1 Are you sure they are the ignorant ones? I don't see anything in the constitution about the right to a family outing; You are just like the people that were against the civil rights movement. Wake up, man! They are fighting for all of us! Read up on SOPA, PIPA and NDAA! Read up on the corruption and corporatism in politics! Don't you realize your Government does not represent you!? They are selling you and your childrens future down the river!
what is occupy wall street. Now they are claiming to be constitutionalists? What they want is a far cry from the government that the founding fathers set up.
They/we come from all backgrounds, some are religious, many are not. Every race, economic background, blue collar, white collar, unemployed, underemployed, students, straight, gay, well-off, poor, you name it. We/they stand for all people. And will continue to fight for all until such time as all wake up and see.
Both the giant We the People and the We the Corporations images were painted by scenic artist Steffon Moody for the Backbone Campaign. The We the People preamble debuted March 4th 2007 in Seattle. It then toured the country as part of the Procession for the Future. We have gradually added extensions so more people could sign it. The 2012 Rose Parade is the first time that almost all those extensions have been joined together.
See Backbone Campaign website for more info on Artful Activism
The We the Corporations banner debuted in Washington, DC in Jan 2011 as part of Backbone Campaign's satirical Emancipation Celebration for the Corporation "celebrating" the first anniversary of the US Supreme Court's Citizens United vs. the F.E.C decision that enshrined the absurd legal doctrine of corporate personhood.
@cia5000 Take a look at the people who are out there. I have been to the O.Los Angeles (not to participate, just to witness). The middle class doesnt support this movement. Its only a fringe misfit society that does. Its an anarchist youth movement. Its not about jobs, or mortgages. Its about F# the man, F# everyone who has made a life for themselves. They are a bunch of Peter Pans lost boys who dont wanna grow up or have rules. Look how they dress and act. Face tattoos dont get you jobs!
Clearly, you are lying and you never actually been to the Occupy LA. Watching Glenn Beck TV is not going witnessing the movement sorry about that. Its not a fringe society, most of them have jobs, most of them are college graduates, and many are still in college. Its not an F the man and F-everyone who made a life for themselves because majority of the protesters made a life out of themselves too and are educated and have jobs.
Its not an Anarchist movement you dip shit. In fact, if you look at the polls, you will see that majority of the movement actually supports Capitalism still. You don't understand anything, and who cares how they dress? What is wrong with you? Oh I forgot, you liked the Jim Crow era of living where everyone looked the same and minorities were thrown out of society. Most of them don't even have tattoos you fucking imbecile.
I am just hoping these people get violent. Really, they have to start getting extremely violent in order to get their point across.....unfortunately. I have zero problem with them bombing, assassinating members of Bank boards or CEO's of banks.... they have targeted us, Americans should target them. They are sitting up in their skyscrapers LAUGHING at Occupy people. LITERALLY PROBABLY LAUGHING.... be more militant people.... like they do in other countries....
@scangemi And if you think they aren't killing common folks, look at all the people literally snapping: Being unemployed causes desperation, banks cause desperation, desperation causes people to act irrational, irrational people shoot kill and rob people.... they are the problem, don't be so glib.
@scangemi That is not who these occupy people are. The people you would have assassinated will be laughing out of the other side of their mouths when all is said and done and no violence will be necessary, at least from the occupy side. Really,Scangemi, that is crazy talk and not needed.
@LyndaDi hmmm never seen a successful revolution without violence.... yeah you do show me LyndaDi. I think scan knows what he is talking about....Name ONE historically relevant instance and I will rescind.... otherwise you should hit your history books.... nothing is going to come of OWS....you know it, I know it, and the rest of the world knows it. Will they get aggravated, maybe, will they change policy...NOT A CHANCE. I honestly believe YOUR talk is crazy talk & supports my theory.
Its not really a revolution. You are right, no revolution has been non-violent. In fact no protest or protest movement has been non-violent. Violence and crime or inevitable if you are trying to fix society because the people of authority refuse to and want you to be silent. Labor Rights, Women Rights, Civil Rights, etc, have all had violence. The movements aren't inherently violent but its something that just happens
@cinemafreak666 obviously...and I don't advocate violence under normal circumstances. But, these are not normal circumstances...it is an equal an opposite reaction to these people wielding economic power and using the police as their puppets...but when banks foreclose on people who they obviously shouldn't have loaned to in the first place, & those people go on killing rampages....well the sheeple say they should have been able to pay their bill lol. Banks indirectly kill people.
@cia5000 Because they have been programmed to believe such. It is how the governments keep the sheeple in "line" and ready for the slaughter. Sad, isn't it?
this is a sweet river of revolution cutting through the streets of materialism and oppression. it takes balls to battle these forces, the energy out there reeks of secretive barbaric brainwashing, the mainstream brain has become a sponge plugged into fox news, they look like lost puppy dogs, just repeating the words of their master "get a job", I replied "I have one, plus an education". I also used a tactic of getting a clean hair cut and nice dress so they couldn't call me hippie lol
@cia5000 I am no more supportive of the rose parade being used by any of the other causes you mentioned. It is a family even and doesnt need to be plagued by liberal b.s. or any political views at that. Its a parade, not a protest. OWS is a plague to this country. OWS is a welfare movement. Thats it! Nothing more. They are marching for handouts!
@rellobellotube NBot the first time I have heard that, however I do not honestly know a thing about hannity. I know his name and nothing more. So keep trying to pin the reality of the situation on something else aside from hannity, limbaugh and fox news.
@TheExecutiveDecision You said it..it's a family event as is this upcoming election and all the wrongs that need to be righted. Getting the word out that there is solidarity is a family event and all family events should be occupied.
@LyndaDi Do you want your kids becoming one of them? A homeless gutter punk, with dreadlocks, and an axe to grind? If these assholes would clean up a bit, didnt have tatts on their face and necks, and actually educated themselves maybe they would have jobs. But instead they want to live as a drifter. They want to bring back the acceptance of the compound style living of the 60's. They are anarchist. They dont even understand politics. They are just bums w/ no interest in success or a real job.
Clearly, you have no understanding about the movement at all. If you did you would realize that around 75 to 85% of them have jobs and another 15% are still in school getting an education. Most of them don't have tattoos and they are normal people. They are protesters protesting a real problem in this country, they don't need to clean up their acts, they did nothing wrong, its a protest, its called civil disobedience, MLK and Gandhi did the same.
They are protesting real problems in the country, unlike that other biased movement whose arguments consisted of Anchor Babies, Obama being the anti-christ, Obama being a secret Muslim, and Obama forging his birth certificate.
@ T E D... blameing OWS marchers for garbage the might have been thrown at them (as opposed to what is often left behind) is like blameing the woman for spousal abuse.
Isn't that typical of the OWS movement. Take something that is beautiful and nice and ruin it with garbage. They have no business doing this and it upsets me that the local gov't and police would cater to these idiots and allow them to do this. OWS has achived nothing but destruction of public parks/property. They have cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands in overtime pay to police and other public employees, as well as the $ in property damage and maintenance. Go home, you losers!
