  • Amazingly great

  • ThiFucking amazing!!!!!!!!! this shit is the fucking one of the best thing I've ever heard in my life!!!!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! It makes me recall my ordeal in 1998 when...my head exploded...I slapped it back...I made it explode a second time to release pressure...I slapped my skull back together AGAIN! I still own the green shirt I wore that night. I believe Colin Bowel lead on to the fact that you might hear of this soon.

  • 2:52 for gong and earsturbation

  • almost good enough to listen to twice. but not.

  • Best band ever!

  • Amazing!

  • I like moosic

  • @HastaEvents what a fucking monkey....plus go listen to pil instead of being a cliche sheep and listening to the sex pistols, you probably think nirvana are better than the melvins too....laughable.

  • @HastaEvents Well, the Sex Pistols were actually invented to make money.

  • @HastaEvents Bullshit. You can invent a thing or object. But good music is "created from stardust" you dumb fuck.....and not for the sake of fuckin money you sick piece of fruit.

  • ....these dudes really love making sounds.....just play and rewind....love the pings of joy and how natural it comes to them

  • does my head in but i still want to hear more.....cause I've lost my head lately.

Ping pong hysteria to full moustache thrashlike waves of sodomy.

  • Oh god this is one of the best things on youtube, thanks so much for uploading it! WHY IS THIS SO GOOD

  • @katlatze Because they are the greatest band ever

  • Rulez

  • First I had to laugh at this song, but now I can't stop listening to it!

  • Anyone know where i could find a tab for this?

  • 23 people have never gotten head to begin with.

  • interesting

  • My dad like dIzydog123 (comment below) introduced me to this band! Their amazing.

  • who are the 22 idiots who didn't like this?????

  • @jkp551 When i find out who they are i will kick their ass

  • saw Gentle Giant twice in Chicago in the early 1970's. they blew me away then, and still do today!!

  • maybe the ugliest drummer in the world... :-)

    but a GREAT drummer!!!

  • I met the guitarist, Gary Green at Progday96 I think it was. I WAS'NT WORTHY! I WAS'NT WORTHY!!!

  • After not hearing this for sooooo many years, well, I got tears in my eyes. I saw them twice in concert, both times front row. Playing in northern Wisconsin, no one knew who they were and so the audience was regretfully small. My absolute favorite band through all those years....and yes, I defended that stand! I turned hundreds of my friends onto Gentle Giant and now my children!

  • magic!

  • quality! my dad introduced to this band...absolute brilliance!

  • @dizydog123 Me too! The best piece of parenting I could have ever wished for

  • Amazing how Kerry Minnear can lift me up and Derek Shulman can bring me down and shake me to my core.

  • playback,....

  • New progressive rock coming out soon band type ''innerspaceband''

  • @Sim2428 Try Animals as leaders !

  • Ridiculously genius! Thanks for upload!

  • grew up on on these guys music and am dumbstruck at their originality STILL...but the drummer, weathers, was such a total goober but he could play such strange time signatures

  • Wow, always loved this band and song

, what an awesome video, thanks for posting it

  • dude i DON"T get goosebumps... until about 3:12,

what happened to music... how did this song go unnoticed in the history books? like honestly QUEEN WHO??!?!?!

  • Hands down the best band that never was.

  • What a fantastic bassline from about 3:06 - great stuff even though I might not risk it at a party!

  • Thanks alot for this gem.

Without competition the most gifted and oriiginal band ever.

So gratefull for this fantastic piece on YouTUbe,

    Again Many Thanks

  • Toooo Funky! Blessed to know this band.

  • BRILLIANTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT<3<3<3

  • WOW

  • Kerry Minear, the keyboardist, was every bit as good a musician as Keith Emerson -- better, perhaps -- but with less of an ego, I think. The things he produced with Gentle Giant were musically fascinating. It's really too bad that they did not get the recognition that their level of musicianship deserved, but I'm glad they're still available here.

This is an outstanding video of a really good tune. Thanks for posting it.

  • @philWynk "Kerry Minear, the keyboardist, was every bit as good a musician as Keith Emerson"

Technically he's FAR better than Emerson and probably slightly better than Wakeman. He's a truly gifted player.

The only other comparable musician I know of is Richard Harvey of Gryphon.

  • Overshadowed and Underrated fusion band from 70s. GG were masters.

  • @craigy49 the greatest band ever

  • @Americant47 Are you 64?

  • @Americant47 THANK YOU for being someone who wrote a most-liked comment that does not say "21 people are..." whatever, insert any kind of insult ^^ these are getting on my nerves from time to time ^^

  • @f3an0rS you should thank the people who voted on the comment..

  • Aaah, sick part at 4:20! Gives me shivers.

  • @SigDrums 420 always has the sickest parts..

  • 1. Go to a party.

    2. Turn this on.

    3. Defend the stereo with your life.

  • @SigDrums Oh yeah, but look, there is music, and much of it, BEYOND the parties, right?

  • @alexfigh Haha, that true!

  • @SigDrums Gentle Giant fans are actually so much more orignal than the dubstep fans. Every single top rated comment on a dubstep video is usually a repeat from another one. Every body seems to have the same thing to say. But for the past few videos ive actually laughed so hard at the top rated comments. i go to high school and just imaging putting this song and keeping it on would be soooo hard. people would try and fight me over it until it kicks in. man you made my day.

  • @SigDrums That would be an epic battle with this song playing on the back

  • @SigDrums YEAH! Nice.

  • @SigDrums 1,000 points. Awesome comment.

  • @SigDrums Hahahahahah! This is hilarious! Best Comment ever....so true

  • @SigDrums No Shit, I always tell my friends "if i gotta listen to Lil Wayne you gotta listen to this" Seriously!

  • @SigDrums best comment ever

  • @SigDrums Or go to a party, and realize, that everybody there listen to Gentle Giant to :D

  • @SigDrums always!

  • @SigDrums Last year I made it!

  • @SigDrums howls... so true... the rest of the world are plebs

  • Respond to this video... mr bass player shulman looks like king john. thats a valid comment when you are blitzed with such quality

  • Whatever one likes Gentle Giant or not, the musicianship of this band was just overwhelming. Fantastic performances, free flow of ideas , all possible influence.

Yes, Genesis, ELP could be - at best - being compared to GG in this regard, though even their most "uncommercial" albums come close to GG "commercial"releases, Interview is being claimed to be one of such.

Of course GG is one of the most underrated bands ever - who the heck should have "rated" them??:))

  • @andrewrou Oh, right you are there, the band is REALLY one big hell of an underrated band, simply because sooooooooooooo few got the taste and brains to rate them :) and even of those, not all like that kind of music - tastes differ, after all...

  • who would've known john weathers was an oakland A's fan...

  • Oh My God.... I just discovered an amazing band ;) I can't stop listening... Jesus I want to see this guys reunite.

  • I love the fact that i can't play my favorite song in the wolrd because it's just too complex. hahahahah.

  • @BenfordFX Oh, you are not alone at that :) but I can't say I love the fact, I used to be distressed about it... :)

  • Greatest band ever! I guess this was like a music video? I never saw this before.

  • I agree the clapping is brilliant but i cant make out in what time sig its in...

  • @leephillips70 In the second part, the main heavy riff that fades out is 4/4 and the claps play a pattern over 8 bars (5.55 - 6.06)

  • @Americant47 - Good point, very true. The progressive scene with GG especially seemed to stoke the interest of very pretentious people, who saw it as a badge of hipness. The band was very good, but all the ceremony that went with it was silly.

  • Love the way he use the violin :D

  • 2:54 fuckin epic

  • 20 people lost their heads

  • I am just here for the music.

  • genial!

  • genial!

  • Love it. My brother got me into them after he saw them open for Black Sabbath back in '72. I was such a fan that I gave my 5th grade teacher, who I had a crush on, the lyrics to Peel the Paint, passing it off as my own. Can you imagine what she must have thought? "Carnal grave, crawling smooth, open flesh and you must let him in....etc" Surprising they didn't send me to a therapist.

  • HEY GENTLE GIANT MUSIC FRIENDS THAT ONE OF THE BEST SONG S CLASSIC AND ROCK MIX MUSIC GOOD WORDS SONG A SUPER SONG FULL OF POWER I SEE GENTLE GIANT IN KÖLN SHORT CONCERT I HAVE NICE DREAM S AFTER PETER FRO GERMANY SUPER
  • Just a divine band...

  • Wow this is sweet

  • @MountApple It truly is amazing

  • Music that makes me happy to have ears with a brain attached

  • Who's on the tambourine?

  • Comment removed

  • True Fucking Progg <3

  • It doesn't get much better than this....period. GG is amazing.

  • the creativity and musicianship is over the top ...

  • What type of mics are those?

  • Não tem como ficar indiferente ao talento desses caras. Creio, que inclusive, ele tenha influenciado Arrigo Barnabé naquele movimento contemporâneo paulista

    de música.

  • 3:07-5:07

    crazy shit

  • People used to have good taste, period.

  • Whoa, this is great stuff! I've been looking for some Prog rock bands to listen too, and stumbled upon those guys. They were ahead of their times, that's for sure O.O

  • @JanoElBozo

Try some Soft Machine and Atomic Rooster as well.

  • @degree7 Thanks for the suggestions, I will no doubt.

When i come to think of it. I heard of Atomic Rooster way back in junior high, and didn't Soft Machine have Allan Holdsworth play with them long time ago?

  • Awesome!

  • Listening to Gentle Giant makes me feel as though I am being wrapped around many times in blankets of sound, sometimes warm, sometimes cold, sometimes red, sometimes green, sometimes so soft I forget these people are human, and sometimes so genuinely rough (not in execution but in shear musical energy) that I am reminded of what I love about Rock.

I hope similar sounds can stay with mankind forever!

  • @Americant47

Thank you. Finally a comment that isnt some retarded shit like "FUCK JUSTIN BIEBER THUMBS UP IF U LIKE".

  • i am 15 (13/01/1996) and i think this is definitly the best band (time keeping, musical structure, and many other things) and i just can´t understand how other people like those type of music (rap, pop,et caetera...) and im from brazil!

  • I'm 44 now but I liked this when I was 14. Or 10 or 13 come to that. Dad used to play the entire GG catalogue incessantly.

  • beautiful song

  • Gentle Giant music is a blessing for us lovers of progressive music

  • Gentle Giant music is a blessing for us lovers of progressive music

  • best band of all time

  • @jamesnjawja yes they sure are-the greatest ever

  • @Americant47 Best comment I ever read.

    PEACE!!!! :))) ♥

  • Should have been in bed hours ago, but I stumbled once again on a Gentle Giant thread, and it's so bloody hard to stop listening to these insanely talented and TIGHT musicians!

If my music ends up half this inspired, I'll die a happy man. And if there's a band out today remotely like these guys, PLEASE let me know.

  • @stryker1999 Some people say that Echolyn is kind of in the same vein of Gentle Giant, but I don't see it. You might enjoy them, though.

  • @stryker1999 Listen to Yezda Urfa, and many other bands (Caravan, Unifaun, Dakota Dakota, UK, Ange, Ekseption, Le Orme, Wigwam, Renaissance, Triumvirat, Strawbs...). yeah

  • Greatest band ever

  • Great song, great band !

  • Somebody said medieval?

  • This music piece is nothing but the purest diamond! It left me speachless. Thank you guys, you gave me everything, you made my life nicer. God bless you thousand times!

  • Gentle Giant firing on all cylinders. Can't be beat.

  • @Americant47 i think you and i are on the same page. the point i was making is that personally, if i had to choose between vehement passion or emotional sterility, i'd opt for the former.

  • @Americant47 i totally agree, let's all play nice.

...but nonetheless, it's freaking awesome that we people so passionately about something like music!! :-)

  • Yeah... I got the Interview LP since 1978 and I was a 14teen at that time - one of the best of many good stuff still sure...

  • jeepers creepers this is off the roof

  • Thumbs up if u agree that this is PURE DESTRUCTION!

  • screw a load of the awful stuff i have to listen to half the time!!!! I hate it! gentle giants where its at!

  • Musical talent is over the top here...

  • vocals that make u soo happy to hear sounds

  • I only recently found out about these guys and they're damned amazing. Some seriously kickass songs.

  • Where is the video from? any dvd-suggestions for a huge fan?

  • Synths were not too complex in the mid 70s, so there's practically one keyboard for each sound you wanted during a show.

  • Synths were not too complex in the mid 70s, so there's practically one keyboard for each sound.

  • the pianist is surrounded by pianos and keyboards wow kinda like a neil pert pianist

  • a psycadelic masterpiece if i ever heard one

  • music is this music is not in 2000 unfortunatly

  • musical brilliance

  • it's not alive ! But the best music ever heard !

  • the clap in the breakout is really the icing on the GG cake!

  • @Gilmourisgreat I tried clapping in time with the song's clapping - no can do brother. Can you do it?

  • @Gilmourisgreat wow i was gonna talk about that then i saw your comment and i was like... oh well guess everybody here is a fan hehe

  • Gentle Giant was the greatest band that ever existed IMO. Their virtuosity was superceded only by their incredible music which the band wrote! Certainly one of the most original and inventive bands with mind boggling taste was Gentle Giant!

  • high quality video and music.. btw the horrendus Lady Gaga's music brough me here again.

  • thx, for sharing^^

  • How'd they get the pitcher for the Athletics to play drums? Ha.....seriously though, this is awesome. Gentle Giant forever. I even like a lot of "Civilian", and that's popularly considered on the level with Phil Collins' solo work.

  • Nothing like GG. They have a place all their own in prog rock history. Yes did three amazing records; Close To The Edge may be the best prog record ever, followed by the worst-Tales. Genesis was good, bad good, bad, etc., all through the 70s, with a few greats. Crimson has In The Court, insanely good record, and ELP has a couple greats, but GG stayed consistently brilliant through ever record. Watch these videos-uncannily tight and virtuosic. Astonishing. Tightest band ever, I think.

  • @phairlever I have to agree with everything you said, except Tales. It may not be their best work, but I'm still amazed every time I listen to it. To someone who doesn't like very long songs it must be terrible, but I think all in all the length was fitting of the msuic. As a musician, I'm personally quite impressed by a lot of the writing and aragnement that went into that album. And don't forget about Relayer, too.

  • @phairlever What 70s Genesis was bad in your opinion? My take on their work is 'GOOD GOOD GOOD GOOD GOOD GOOD GOOD what the f*ck happened?'

  • Re Kdragon32 , I did 32 years ago

  • Phenomenal

  • Am I the only 14 year old person who loves this kind of music?

  • @Kdragon32 looks like you are. You'll be telling us all next you like girls

  • @Ollfie Hey, I just wanted to say in a roundabout way how I like this music a lot and that most kids don't appreciate this kind of stuff. You don't have to get all sarcastic on me. XD

  • @Kdragon32 no ! I love it too! im 16 but i have loved it since i was 5 :)

  • @Kdragon32 I'm 15 and I like it. I just turned 15 about 2 months ago.

  • @Kdragon32 I discovered them at 15, I'm 17 now. I would have loved them at 13 if I knew them at the time! :D

  • @Kdragon32 I'm 14, and this is my favorite band.

  • @Kdragon32 im only 16 and like this kind of music! thats only a 2 year age gap!

  • @Kdragon32 Hopefully not!

  • @Kdragon32 Me too! :D

  • @Kdragon32 nope you're not ! :)

  • @Kdragon32

everyone has to like this music from the moment on he grew ears that are properly linked to the substance. so, you may be one of the few^^

  • @Kdragon32 No

  • Comment removed

  • @Kdragon32 no ure not man i am one too..i love all music and Gentle Giant is a great classic rare band and its hard to find bands like them

  • @Kdragon32 No. There are thousands. Maybe in your classroom.

  • @Kdragon32 no, but we can guess that you have no friends

  • @Kdragon32 No, don't worry.

    I was 14 when I knew them. Now I'm 16 and still <3 them.

  • @Kdragon32 No mate, when I was 14 in 1999 I listened to music from this era that none of my friends had ever heard. I know more 1960s music than my parents and they were actually alive at the time!!

  • It's funny... Even though the interlocking vocal counterpoint stuff is what always made GG stand out for me, I still can't help from quite possibly favoring this song in particular!

    I like the overdubbing & wide panning of Shulman's singing on some of the lines (e.g.; 3:57, 4:09, 5:10, 5:22 & 5:27).
