  • it's BUONASERA the right way.

  • Then they would become my enemies....and then they will fear you

  • "good" lol who does he think he is? ..... oh yeah he is the don, climbing on roofs in his heyday to kill don fanucci

  • This movie makes me proud to have the last name Bonasera

  • I believe in America..

  • i once boned a girl named sarah........i bonedasara! lol

    long live italian organized crime!

  • I like it that you put the bit from the original script. :)

    Thank you!

  • Get those marshmallows out of your cheeks Don! We all know that jawlines like that don't exist.

  • @polaroidsky

    cotton balls, not marshmallows.

  • @EvilChiken8 : My dad would put marshmallows in his cheeks and reenact this scene, XD

  • @polaroidsky ooh hahaha i see thats cute, and yeah they both work anyway.. ive done it with popcorn:P

  • good

  • amerigo - the right name for bonasera...you got the police, why have a friend like me...

  • Im not a super picky person, but i believe you and the screen captions misspelled BUONASERA!

  • IMAGINE IF JAMES DEAN WAS ALIVE AND HE GOT THIS ROLE

  • @BlackSoulAcid

No way was he an actor in the caliber of Marlon Brando. James Dean had talent, but people mostly admired him for his looks and the "mysterious" persona he reportedly had. He was lucky to star in 3 grand productions, or he'd not be half as remembered.

I'd rather see Paul Newman (although he was much too big of a name in the 70's) playing some major character in The Godfather.

  • @McLarenMercedes imagine if james dean had lived?? he would be the biggest....just like brando and newman....to bad they dont have actors like this anymore

  • @BlackSoulAcid

Considering James Dean's reckless lifestyle and driving his motorcycle and sportscar at insane speeds, it's safe to say he would have died sooner or later. It happened to many others at this time.People with those high risk personalities always live for the kicks, and often later develop either gambling or drug problems. The names of the stars in Hollywood don't last very long. In the 70's former great names like Liz Taylor, Richard Burton, John Wayne, Gene Kelly were all "passe".

  • The cat held by Marlon Brando here was a stray he found while on the lot at Paramount, and was not originally called for in the script. So content was the cat that its purring muffled some of Brando's dialogue, and, as a result, most of his lines had to be looped.

One of the studio make-up artists adopted her IIRC

  • GOOD!

  • such a talented actor

  • Someday, and that day may never come I will come upon you to do a service for me. But uh.. until that day, accept this justice as a gift on my daughter's wedding day.

  • BONASERA its name, buonasera is good evning in italian

  • You can hear the cat how it makes a weird sound in the beginning !!!

    :D

  • INMENSO MARLON BRANDO!!!

  • I am watching this movie tommorow in cinema!:D I am so glad they chose to show it in cinemas in Norway ... it's nice for those who didn't live in the 70's;)

  • 11 people have disrespected the family.

  • sweet cat

  • The Godfather is my all time favorite movie even beating LOTR and saving private ryan

  • @swartsanager2 saving private ryan? come on man, thats not a really good movie. the action scenes are brilliant but other than that its kind of dry. Watch Band of Brothers if you havent. Now thats an AMAZING series. great charachter development, great writing and great acting( all unknown actors). And its all based on real events.

  • @acdcgnr100 ya ive checked out the band of brothers series and I agree its really good and again this series was produced by Steven Spielberg. I dont know its just i was very intrigued by the film. My list has changed over the time and during that i watched letters from iwo jima. That film was amazing! I think it beat out Saving Private ryan in my opinion. Also I dont know if youve heard of this movie but its called "Fargo" by the Coen Brothers. Thats was an amzing film too. =)

  • i wish i was of such high authority that i could honestly say "your enemies would become my enemies... and then they would fear you." DAYUM

  • im italian, and "Bonasera" is "Good evening" but it isn't italian, it is dialect, in italian good evening is "Buonasera" is different, :)

  • This is a great scene but what is your point?

  • @Apsu72 Just seeking props to show what good taste he has in shitty scense and life and in movies. What a jerk. Next.

  • Never hate your enemies. It affects your judgment

  • He's saying "buona sera" which means "good evening" in Italian.

  • could i ask ? what does bonasera means ?

  • @lightningGOD234 its the guy who he's talkin to, thats his name Bonasera. The undertaker guy.

  • "...and then they would fear you"

    EPIC

  • aaaaaaaa jajaja lo mejor!

  • Ladies and gentlemen, read the book. It explains in great detail each character. As great as the film was it can't cover every aspect of the book, although Coppola was exemplary in his effort.

  • Please what is Corleone saying after 0:34 my english is not so god so, I dont understand?

  • @DsbNor "And then they will fear you."

    "Be my friend? Godfather?"

  • ti farò un'offerta che non potrai rifiutare

  • Marlon Brando was the greatest of all time....

  • Epic.

  • the scene with the bonasera is the best movie scene

  • listen LA MAGIA DEL SAX by Minicillo

  • Watching this film as a kid, I remember thinking the character's name was actually "Don" lol.

  • Ci possono essere ammirare questo film è il migliore che io possa essere uno sponsor in modo I love this exitaso super era di essere italiani

  • Are you crazy?

Amerigo Bonasera is the name of the undertaker!!! All your doubts can be solved by the reading of the book called "The Godfather" by Mario Puzo...and stop! In italy we used to say "punto e basta"

  • What does "Bonasera?"

  • good evening

  • Tu 'nsignasti' u ' riespietto pi u 'Parrinu -ah? Beccamoi'tu i mierda chi si!

  • The second scene with Bonasera, at the funeral home, is probably the strongest scene in the whole movie. We have Vito, the pater familias, trying his hardest not to show any emotions, before finally breaking down at the sight of his dead son. Only Marlon Brando could've pulled it off.

  • I basically agree with you. I can't pick out the strongest scene, it's just such a fanastic film. I like in this scene how Bonasera asks him to be his friend like a child and Brando shrugs his shoulders and hangs his head a bit. It's really comical to some degree. They sound like kids. Anyway, the under-taker scene is killer........"look how they butchered my boy......."

  • because brando was a god

  • "I'll make you an offer you can't refuse"

  • no he is Amerigo Bonasera

  • from the original script:

    "THE GODFATHER

While this remains, we hear: "I believe in America."

Suddenly we are watching in CLOSE VIEW, AMERIGO BONASERA, a

man of sixty, dressed in a black suit, on the verge of great

    emotion.

    BONASERA

    America has made my fortune.

    "

Vito sais "Bonasera, Bonasera" like grumbling.

  • io credo nell'america, l'america fece la mia fortuna..... baciamo le mani don corleone ahahahahahah

  • His name,The undertaker was Amerigo Bonasera. Why is the Don saying Bonasera two times? because he is dismayed.

  • Buonasera means good evening in italian. when you pronounce it fast the "u" gets lost... then it becames bonasera.

therefore: good evening mr. bonasera! (bonasera, bonasera)

    that's why...

  • ok you are right in the good evening part. but the don is not saying good evening to bonasera. he is really saying it two times because he is dismayed. for example my father is really dismayed about a thing I have done. he is lost in his words so he says son., son why have you done this? get it? read the book so it will be more clear to you. ok? peace bro.

  • Why the need to say good evening to bonasera if they had been talking for more than a minute already. he mentined the name twice because the godfather felt so unsatisfied with how bonasera wasasking a favor from him.

  • no sicilia we miss out the u, we say bono instead buono, its got nothing to do with the seperate dilect, its just accent

  • Comment removed

  • but the Mafia is Italian vito corleone it is Italian

  • They called their selves Sicilian. The old Mafia was all Sicilian. not like today, the modern Mafia is composed of American-Italian. and must possess an Italian surname and Heritage.

  • the italian version is really amazing too...

  • YouTube is so educational. I always wondered why Don Corleone was saying "Good evening" to the undertaker in the middle of their conversation. He wasn't saying "Good evening"; he was saying the undertaker's name! Thanks.

  • Bonasera non doveva parlare cosi'

  • i remember this, when i was reading this part i didnt expect that the undertaker was bold 0_0

  • Undertaker?

  • Süqersin Baba Bonasera Bonasera Bonasera

  • Bonasera ("Good Evening") is a good name for an undertaker.

  • @mikedubya Good evening means bon sera, not bon_a_sera

  • @undesgruestdasmurmel @mikedubya wrong ! Good evening means Buonasera

    Buono = Good (male)

    Buona = Good (female)

we use genres, don't forget it guys ;)

  • @yonosenayo Its not "Buona" its "Bona". Sicilian is a different language, and a better language. Fuck regular Italian.

  • italy is the best

  • but they are in New York, lol

  • @sansevero93

If you are referring to corruption, products of shoddy quality and always kissing up to whatever side is winning in a war, then sure.

If you mean human rights, democracy, education, press freedom, gender equality rights, etc etc. Seek elsewhere.

  • Bonasera, Bonasera...

  • bi saeni bilirim bi müslüm babayı

    baba, baba, baba

  • "...and then they would fear you."

One of the best lines in that entire movie. Bravo!

  • whats the meaning of Bonasera ? is this his name ?

  • Buonasera mean good evening

  • BUONASERA is the mans last name. If you all remember when Tom Hagen tells the Don the Sonny is dead he tells Tom to "call BUONASARA we need him now", the guy was an undertaker.

  • AMERIGO BONASERA is the name of the man and everyone who has seen the movie knows that he is the undertaker. Buonasera is like good evening in italian.

  • god bless marlon brando .. rest in peace godfather

  • Brilliant Movie, I love it

  • Is that all we have to watch for that Assignment...RAY BUCKNELL

  • Hi everyone in Writing for Film with Lazlow, ray bucknell

  • rip marlon brando aka don

  • in this movie brando try to imitate Frank Costelo (he was talking simular ...)

  • No it wasnt brando. the character of Don Vito Corleone was inspired by Frank Costello

  • Vasamu 'e mani a vussia, Don Vito!

  • " and if an honest man like yourself should make enemies then they would become my enemies..and then they will fear you"

rest my case, nothing left to be say, badass cool motherfucker!

  • BUONASERA (you miss U): good evening...

  • my friends call me mumbo italiano

  • it's mambo, not mumbo

  • Buona Sera..... Buona Sera ragazzi'

  • Why did you go to the police? Why didn't you come to me first?

  • bona sera means good evening

  • and it is an italian family name too

  • my neighbour has the same voice as the godfather, he is an italian... and maybe even more, who knows, bonasera.. ;)

  • what about the cat? I don't remember of any cat on the book.

  • The cat just happened to wander on the set, and Marlon Brando wanted to put him in the scene. The car wasn't scripted was just a fluke.

  • yes most memorable line in the movie

  • comunque parlano inglese ma il coso è spagnolo bonasera ?????? in italiano Buonasera

english they speak english but the think in the line is spanish Bonasera ?????? in italian is buonasera

  • In Siciliano si dice bonasera!

  • presumo tu sia un italiano del nord :)

  • sonny wa sneeded especially in the book because when the don got shot it was sonnby alone who organized the family to fight off all 5 new york families, but he was only ggood in times of war other than that he wasnt as good as micheal or tom or especially vito

  • he is cool.

  • Vito is the best, a occhi chiusi.

  • Grazia papa

  • Michael

  • vito

  • Who was the best Don Corleone?: Vito, Sonny, Tom, Michael, or Vincent?

  • i guess its vito (for me he is the classic don), then michael, then vinnie, then tom and the worst don of these is sonny.

    my opinion.

  • vito,he established the empire, made it fluorish, made it dominant in new york, taught lessosn to his heir micheal who then carried/took control of the empire

  • In the novel, the undertaker had the full name of Amerigo Bonasera.

  • ti farò un offerta che non potrai rifiutare

  • Always felt bad for Bonasera.

  • Yeah, tell me about it.His Daughter gets gang raped and then he has to make Sonny look good with all those damn bullets in his body.

  • If you look up " Perfection" in the dictionary you will find a picture of the godfather logo.

  • lols! nicely said.

  • the godfather (o poderoso chefão/el padrino)

foi o mehlor trabalho de marlon brando

a forma como ele fala com seus inimigos

    nunca ameaçando apenas dialogando

o torna o célebre dessa obra

sua personalidade faz com que todos o repeitem e o temam

  • sure it's buona sera! i'm italian and i confirm what you said!

  • grazie!

  • its not buona sera. his name is bonasera. buona sera is a greeting. bonasera is his name

  • ok i understand what you said... anyway buona sera is the italian way to say good evening!

  • be my freind, mozfather?

  • marlon brando! the best!

  • cena perfeita, coppolla fez exatamente de acordo com o livro, em um sincronismo perfeito.

  • Well, Vito Corleone has never existed, maybe he could be the godfather Carlo Gambino, a man of Lucky Luciano (Salvatore Lucania), anyway i suggest you to listen it in italian, he has a better and more beautiful voice.

  • Brando magnificent

  • Brando is a god.

  • That IS the movie >__>

  • my point exactly

  • wow this is just like the movie!

  • lmfao
