  • VE is a piece of shit, it aint Aussie designed, its german/uk designed while a Falcon is designed in Melbourne, you low lives!, ps: i owned an VE SV6 for 3 months, my old station wagon BA 2003 FALCON totally kills it on the open road and on take off and overtaking!

  • that's a brilliant looking car but they need to get rid of the black teardrop-like things under the lights on the F6, GT and GT-P i've seen the GT-E which lacks the tears and it looks a lot better, i guess it's all opinion but i know a lot of people will agree with me...

  • if ford wanted to make the car look a bit more extreme they shouldn't put big black things under the lights, i'm a ford man and from a few angles the car is very ugly, competely due to the black things, instead... on the mark II they should replace the black things with larger vents around the fog lamps like holden did. the fog lamps on the holdens, i'm sorry to say look a lot better than the black things on the falcons... it's not stealing either, the front end on the VE is taken from the BA...

  • I did at the motor show and was blown away especially the interior. Comparing to VE Not much people looking at the C60 or whatever it's called in the Holden camp, comparing to the FG falcon. I couldn't move around at all, plus I had to wait for a while to have a look inside a G6E turbo

  • No it was last sat, and that's what it was. For a 130+ price tag people could buy a Porsche or spend a little bit more and buy a maserati I or a nice merc/bmw with good horses under the bonnet. Was it the European men or the aussi journo flocking around and Holden doing their media spin?

  • A friend of mine who's a photographer from holland who isn't impressed with Aussie cars, We call him the "Euro Snob".

    He said to me straight he did like the Coupe-60 very much.

    But still you wont pick much from overseas up for 130k here. Porcshe 190k plus.

    My Auntie just bought an A-Class cheapest you can get.. 45k. That was after some money off it was a demo model.

    Models from BMW/Mercedes just wont match it price wise and performance wise, They never do. More so now then ever.

    So would people buy a Bmw M3 or a Coupe 60 if they had the money? If there not dumb they would pick the BMW because of its performance, brand and it won't depreciate as much as the coupe would. Plus if u bang it in a tree, u have more of a chance of surviving. Plus the engines of the European cars are in their own world, plus very economical.

    M3 more like $165,000 on road. also 2 doors.

    IF you wont to save money you would buy the Coupe-60 it could be the next Monaro a cheaper price then the last one. So you might save $100,000.

    On safety the VE with ESP has been the best feature they have introduced into the car, This alone seems to have stopped accidents in the last few years, I have not as yet seen a new VE into a tree or in an accident.

    It might only get 4.5 stars in NCAPP on road it's a 5 star.

    He's not the only one truth be told most of his mates have similar issues and they moved from EF-EL's also, Most of there guys wouldn't touch the AU so they keeped a hold of there EF-EL longer. It could be early issues?.

    Taxi drivers have many of the same issues but there cars are treated much worse with more stop start and sitting idling.

  • Carmakers make their money on services, and sadly to say aussi car makers are still behind the eight ball when it comes to quality comparing to bmw and merc. If some pays 130 + for a Holden commi which the price tagg is just stupidity at its best for a commodore + it would depreciate like hell over the next 5 years, in which other cars at the same price would not. Holden have stated that it's just a concept car, like the ssx, and there is no plan for production.

    But i wont go singing Mercedes praises yet,

    My Auntie who bought the A Class had some issues for them to repair,

    It took 2 weeks to deliver the car to her, scratches and faults needed to be repaired, And as soon as she was ready to pick it up, Another issue comes up.

    This happen 4 times.

    SSX was never close to production, But the Coupe-60 can be made in 12-24 months easy or even less.

    HSV GTS from 99 still fetch a good amount, But no new car will keep resale today.

  • im a holden man, just look at my name but I really do like the new falcon, I did some research on the development of them and they have put alot of effort into upgrading the 6 cylider...391nm on 91ron fuel for a 6 cylinder? that makes the 320 or so in the commodore sound weak...and i own a commodore lol...looks like ill be searching for a new car soon maybe even a falcon?

  • this car looks better then the ve commodore,will outperform the ve commodore,better fuel economy then the ve(EVEN THE BOSS v8)and will prob get a 5 star ancap rating(unlike the ve 4 star) this is the ULTIMATE family car,commodore will once again be playing catchup,try 3 BILLION$ holden and maybe uz will get somewhere!!!

  • of course ford australia is better than holden at building cars. Holden don't have enough experience in building cars as nearly everything they release are rebadged.

  • In my opinion the GT looks stunning, the racoon look is different and it makes the car look aggresive. Also, the performance figures of the GT exceed those of the VE HSV 307, but testing will determine which is the better car. Overall an excellent car, which is what you would expect from FPV....

  • XR Falcon would be the best bet hero car among the group.

    FG Falcon with the blacked-out "racoon" or washed-out mascara will divide opinions. Unnecessary add-on?, even ugly, or cool to some? Maybe to differntiate it from other ho-hum Falcons? Ute - basically the same except for blistered fenders. Cabin - ok. All in all a fair evolution from previous-gen.

  • And what's wrong with the BA. From the pics I've seen the interior looks sweet. The VE is an Opel Astra, from the front to the dash. Holden can do what they do best, design cars for Bogans.

  • Someone's trying to be funny. Well Fords are taxies for the one reason that there engines last a lot longer than the commodores. My mate was a one eyed Holden support (HRT), and what does he buy a BA instead of a VZ or VE. Uneducated me? Lol. Im studying two majors (Economics and Human resource management)at Monash University so saving up for a 3 series BMW wont be that hard.

  • Fords are Taxis for one reason and one reason only. They are CHEAP. Ford offer HUGE discounts to Taxi companies. Bigger than anyone else and Ford is the only company in Australia that offer a "Taxi Package" straight from the factory. BTW, I don't want to make too much fun of you but if that's what you're really studing, then you better start looking at 1985 BMW 3 series. Seriously!!

  • Ford dont do taxi packages since the BA was introduced. I have a friends dad who runs a taxi company and he tells me that they by fords because there engines are more reliable than the commis especially the head gaskets and diffs. Offering large discounts to taxi companies means that ford actually loose profit. And have stated that fleet and taxi sales don't make them money because of the discounts. That's why the stopped offering taxi packs.

    With engines it's nothing to do with reliability it's that Fords I6 runs better and longer on LPG then Holden V6.

    You will still see Commodores with huge KM's you just wont with LPG.

  • Brother 03 BA Fairmont 55,000km, 3 Times back for rotors, It knocks at the rear, Covers over the Exhaust have fallen off, switches in the central locking have been replaced 4 times in one rear left door!.

    Transmission slipping into retirement, Diff with moire whiplash then a rancher, Engine sounds like a 88 VN Commodore V6 at actually runs a 15-60 semi synthetic oil to keep it quieter, When I'm running a 15-40 semi synthetic V6 of 16 year old car. 2 Radiators. 10 headlight globes front left only

  • My dad owns a 2004 BA XT and has recently had problems with knocking at the rear. Apparently the BA is notorious for this.

  • My old one did the same. Didnt seem to affect the car. However it shitted me no end. I had it back at ford under warrenty many times - They couldnt find a issue other then it was knocking ?. It sounded like large ball bearings in the boot rolling on metal. Very strange one. And mine was a 04 Fairmont.

    At first i thought i did it lowerering it. but raising it didnt help.

  • Yeah it sounds exactly like that. He had just got a service done about a week before he started noticing it. My guess is brake pads. But we'll have to wait and see what the mechanic has to say.

  • I was told on a ford forum it might be the cover around the rotors ?. There are that many covers for parts under the car it's amazing everything doesn't vibrate all the time. Could be something that easy ?.

    We cut the exhaust cover off. Ended up getting a sports system anyway it needed to come off.

  • And in terms of my education, graduates in my field earn 40,000 straight out of uni. Roughly wages is around 100,000+, and there is huge demand here in Australia and overseas, so my EL Fairmont is worth more than a 1985 BMW 3 Series so I must be off to a good start, while still at uni with a year to go.

  • I don't get the whole Holden/Ford, who is better thing. If you think about it, both are pretty much the same. Also, they pump money into the Australian economy. I support Holden, but I love the 6 cylinder Ford has (F6/XR6T). Great value for money. I'd rather spend 200k less and buy an F6 than waste my money on an M6. It's not like they've got completely different performance specs, and it's not meant to be a luxury car. BMW just wants an excuse to sell it for 100k+.

  • I'm with you on all parts. I have gone past the holden/ford battle. I had a BA not long ago, But now a Holden. I had issue with the BA but it wasn't a lemon. MY personal preference is just holden. But i have no issues driving Fords.

    I'm the same. I like the M3-5-6 great cars. But price wise they don't match up to our cars. Best cars in the world Falcon/Commodore dollar for dollar. And I'd also go F6 first.

  • The fact is both Falcon and Commodore are way behind Europeans or the Japanease and even some of Koreans. Comparing Falcon to Commodore is like comparing apple to apple and people who don't get that is a true bogan. But, I believe Ford Australia engineers are bit better than Holden engineers.

  • I believe that was intentional. Both Holden and Ford AU have been doing progress face lifts rather than a radical one unless it was a massive failure (eg. AU falcon)
