Such a beautifully depressing song... Possibly his saddest. Somehow I can't imagine him performing this song and others with the Smiths, as if only alone he could have written and sing it.

It was hard enough to replicate Johhny's licks, but nigh on impossible to replicate Vini's.. especially live!

I think Alain does a great job of putting his own stamp on it. The riff from 2:30 to 2:50 is very delicate but powerful. Great stuff.

This song is not all that great production wise. It sounds slow and simple but Morrissey sings it with so much passion and the guitar solo is fabulous. In the end, Morrissey's passion could be felt and that is what makes this song so great. I love the live version thanks for the post.
