This is quite amazing. Lemper does a great job of emulating Lenya while performing it in her own unique way. I don't get the haters.

She sings with a completely inapropriate Vibrato from the beginning, doesn't know to interpretate the lyrics, no crescendo - only by the fabulous band. It's not enough to look beautiful and play sexy.

Listen to Bobby Darins version or even older ones.

Apart of that many mediocre singers, most of them female, pretend to be "intellectual" and "high-levelled" by singing Weil&Brecht.

Lotte Lenya, the composer's wife, sang this with an even more pronounced vibrato than Lemper is putting forth here. Since Kurt explained that Lotte's raspy, wavering voice was what he heard in his head when writing his songs, I'm sure he both wanted and expected them to be performed with an "inapproprate" vibrato. Ute performs this in a totally different manner -- and AUF DEUTSCH -- on her 1980s Weill CD, so it's obvious that emulating Lenya isn't her only strategy for performing such music.

möcht ich aber nicht unbedingt raushängen.

selbst leute vom fach irren sich leider allzu häufig.

kunst kommt von können und ich finde kunst die sich gut verkauft hat auch eine existenzberechtigung.

die lemper hat mich übrigens live schon ganz oft sehr positiv überrascht. von 10 konzerten die ich mit ihr gesehen habe, war nur eines etwas enttäuschend. diese bilanz hätte ich bei domingor auch gerne gehabt!!!
