Yep that was definately ex Stig Ben Collins. I've just read this part in his book (which is an awesome read). Apparently the stunt was his idea. He'd just gained his army berret (he's in the TA) and just been penalised for an accident in a race at, I think, Rockingham.

Hmmm... I just saw the wig test from season 3 ep. 5. There they used exactly the same Mercedes. Check the license plate. There The Stig was driving it, and here it is mentioned as Ben's car (well obvious since he's driving it). So either they (T.G.) own the Mercedes OR it is Ben Collins' own car and he really is/was The Stig??? What do you think?

Funny I watched this episode on Dave and I noticed Topgear had shot themselves in the foot! Now that Ben Collins has bn exposed as the STIG and he is in this episode!
