Well, maybe NOW people won't allow their children outside alone. But in my day (I'm old) we were expected to 'play outside' all day long like it was what we were supposed to do. Only if we were sick, did we stay inside the house.
Today, obesity is chronic in children because of lack of physical activity.
Yes it's good that kids go out and play but back in the older days you didn't hear kids being kidnap. Now kids get kidnap everyday and parents need to watch they kids more or have a friend or family memeber watch them. When I think about it, even friends or family can be the ones to kidnap your kid too so who can you trust no one but yourself really. I don't have kids but I would like to someday and when that day comes I will watch my kids 24/7 til they old enough to protect themselves.

Watching kids is easier since they have cell phones, you can call and tt them, make sure they are okay. But in these times, the parents are out working for slave wages and cannot be home all the time. Bills must be paid and childcare is very expensive (good childcare, that is). It has been very stressful at times and I am so relieved they are not little anymore, although I miss some of those times, too.
