  • Hello,i also have purchased the omex,i wanted to ask you where do i connect the positive and the negative of the controller thanks ... hello:)

  • I'm going to do the conversion but I'm buying bit by bit I have a 1.25 ghia. I bought the full milltek racing manifold system which fits all zetec engines and the puma 1.7. So I Thought I would start with that! Go on from the it's alot of money but boy!! Do I love the sound it's abit faster but when I put the 1.7 in it will no longer be all sound and no action. Hope this helps?

  • search RSspecial1

  • whats the projected cost of these upgrades? i am currently upgrading my MK5 5dr and am curious as to the cost of the 1.7 puma conv?

  • @steviebutt2002 it was about 2k for the engine and conversion. Really is a rapid car after just with the 125bhp 1.7. The gearbox is the key in my opinion. I started with a 1.25 box on the 1.7 which was costing me 1 - 2 secs to 60. was so much faster with the LSD puma box on it. Need to do the mod to remove the torque limited in first gear too. Starved it of any good 1st gear action

  • @siggers1234 what did you do to remove the torque limiter?

  • @steviebutt2002 depends how you go about it, i guy i know bought a mk5 ZS rolling shell (no engine) for about £400 then bought a spares and repairs puma for just over a £1000 and used the gearbox, engine etc. so he basically payed 1400 for it

  • is that the sound of that fiesta in the background then?

  • @Jordzindaplace Yes its a recording whilst driving.

  • alright mate thanx just 1 other thing do i have 2 change the engine mounts thanx

  • u just need to change the engine mount (driver side) to a puma one. Gearbox one can be left

  • alright just wana no if u need nefink als 2 do this convertion apart from the engine and gear box do the wires just all fit n the radiator. thanx jack

  • yea mate you need the wireing loom as some of the wires are in diffrent places, the rad fits though, oh and you need the puma ecu nd key chip

  • did u have an extra piece of pipe welded to that sports cat or something? it looks way to long if you compare it too the length of the milltek de-cat pipes....?

  • HaHa well spotted...

The pipe either side of the CAT was cut off before fitting, and wellded in place to the manifold and system.

It is a complete milltek system for puma 1.7 and the CAT was for a 2.0 focus, pumaspeed recommend that one over the one designed for the puma, more free flowing larger diameter

  • hi there mate what did u have in your fiesta were they piper cam kit or just the cams and what are better piper or the FRP cams thanks

  • i think its safe to say my vehicle's better.

  • Hardly.. I don't have a Ripspeed blue LED on my dash, lol

Sold it a week ago anyway, got a nice Mondeo ST220 :)

  • Does the exhaust pop or flame when using the omex launch control?

  • No it doesn't, it would if it was being over fueled i guess

  • Who fitted your omex was it pumaspeed as i need mine fitting but alot of electric companies refuse because its connected to the loom

  • Hi... I just have the OMEX launch control unit not the whole engine management system. It's very easy to fit, just connects inline with the 3 cables on the coil pack plug, acts as a standard limiter and as a launch control limiter

  • hi agen just wanted to no if i bort a 4-2-1 milltak can u put eney uver exhaust sistom on it jw and how come u ant got a ford racing puma inlet on it and what about that torgoe limiter all about thank

  • you would have to check with pumaspeed, i think if you get the de-cat system then it is possible to put any exhaust on it, i had my cat welded in. I haven't managed to find a racing inlet yet, pumaspeed are in the process of casting some new ones. only gain 5 - 8 bhp off of it really. Cams and head work much more effective on that engine

  • The torque limiter is an electronic device built into the speed sensor and stops the engine giving too much power in 1st gear to minimize wheel spin. Unfortunately when you start tuning the car increasing the power, it becomes more effective and very annoying. There is a fix for it that i wrote on zetecs . com, have a read of that.

  • oo kl thanks and the loom for the engine or holl car? and when u take the cover off the engine dus it look like a zetec-s phazz 1 engine

  • just the engine loom, yea its just a plain aluminum block like the first 1.6 zete-s engines.

  • all that u have dun to the car how much did it all cost im get a mk5 fiesta 1.25 and thinking of puting a 1.6 zetec-se engine in and by the 2000 grand kit from pumaspeed or is it better to put a 1.7 puma in and then put the 2000 grand kit on ??? o and were about is pumaspeed is it up noeth thanks

  • i would get the 1.25 and get a 1.7 fitted. no point wasting time with the 1.6 when a 1.7 will be just a easy to get and the same price. Plus the 1.7 has VCT which helps. The £2,000 will just get you the engine, gearbox, loom and ECU. You will need to take a bit of spare cash with you for the exhaust as the 1.25 will NOT fit. Also worth thinking about upgrading the brakes as the standard 1.25 as rubish.
