This band is absolutely incredible. I honestly don't know what the metal world would be like if it wasn't for this band. I believe that metal would be a very depressing place if it wasn't for this band. Metal was on the verge of extinction at the end of the 1990s, in the advent of Hair Metal in the 1980s, Grunge in the early 1990s, and Alternative in the late 1990s. This band basically saved metal and brought it back to what it should be: Raw, real, heavy and intense as hell. Thank you Slipnot!

What I mean by saying they saved metal is that they brought it back into the public eye. Slipknot made people's heads turn when they emerged into the metal world, and the last band to do that before Slipknot was Metallica, 15 years before the release of The 9's debut album. Yes, metal was a very bland place in the late 90s. By then, Metallica had sold out. Bruce Dickenson had left Iron Maiden at that point, and many other factors contributed to metal's decline. And then this band comes along.
