  • I'm sorry Todd, but you just don't get it! The Willow Creek Seeker Sensitive services are evangelistic services that are working to bring non-Christians to Christ!. Your unbelievable bias against anything evangelistic is hurting the church. Please get a balance. What Bill Hybels is saying in this clip that you have so conveniently edited to your interests is that Willow is going to look for better ways to disciple the new converts. I wish more churches were to take this positition and learn.

  • The damage done by this man with his seeker friendly church approach is far reaching. My old church and many others have suffered from this unbiblical method.

The bad fruit from this movement still goes on.

  • I was once a pharisaical type, much like the commentator. I attended a"seeker sensitive church once and condemned it immediately. It did not line up with how I believed church should be. but I attended once more and was convicted for my condemnation. I can't speak for the rest of those churches, but mine, delivered the gospel, speaking the language of the people there. these critics of the seeker sensitive movement, they always seem to be speaking in controlled favorable environments...

  • The spirit of the commentator in the video is so bitter and mean that I can't listen to him. He sounds just like the secular political commentators on radio/TV: Constantly sarcastic, constantly yelling, constantly trying to find "gotcha" points. I'm sick of the seeker-sensitive model, too, but all this smart-aleck yelling is no better. It's an us-versus-them, we've got it all figured out, bunker mentality that is used to brainwash people to be Republicans and Democrats. I'm sick of it, too.

  • "the way of the master" Todd Friel; Todd' way or the highway!

  • I will only go to churches that are seeker sensitive. I actually fell asleep in a non seeker sensitive church because of how boring it was.

  • Wow, this is the single most courageous thing I've ever seen a church do. Every church should do an honest self-evaluation like this without having to fear that these backseat critics will take shots at them when they try to improve on their areas of weakness.

  • The Bible tells us in the last days that there will be a famine for the "Hearing" of the word of God. The enemy has crept in the church unaware and its time for us to expose and rebuke this demon. There is only one way and Jesus Christ is that way, truth and life. Jesus is the only door. People really need that real, tongue talking holy ghost. This is why the church is going down but if God's people follow II Chronicles 7:14 then we as a body will once experience revival just as Azusa St.

  • People seem to forget that SALVATION is God's job,we are to preach the word and if that drives people away,so be it,Jesus never ran after people who rejected Him.

  • Ok, I know my message may make others angry. However, listen... Those who enable will become disabled. Think about it. Get out of the way. So many of us become life rafts, band-aids or safety nets for others. Heal yourself ,lead others to God, live your truth and get out of the way!!! Stay humble I don't have to be "somebody" I'm just myself. God's yoke is easy and light. Just follow the commandments and be. God help us.

  • Pt3.I myself sat in my church for 9 years and may have seen 10 people come to Christ. Why? because most churches are busy doing everything but sharing the gospel, the good news that God sent HIS one and only boy to save this world because he loved you that much and it is through Jesus that you can be forgiven of your past present and future sins.. that nothing you could do could make him love you any less and nothing you could do will make him love you anymore!!

  • Most people like Kirk Cameron, but why he's hooked up with you two (Ray Comfort & Todd Friel) I'll never know.

Hey Kirk. Even though they're Calvinists, try R.C. Sproul & Ravi Zacharias. You could do a LOT worse.

  • You need to take a long hard look at yourself. The world is in a mess, it does not reflect the coming Kingdom of God and the more energy we spend having a snipe at our fellow brothers and sisters, earnestly serving around the world, the devil must be laughing his head off.

Why not do something useful with your time? If you disagree with Bill Hybels then fine, but going to all the effort of broadcasting that to the world is Pharisaical behaviour and does NOTHING to honour the body of Christ.

  • @whatwouldscoobydoo1

I was reading your comment... and saying to myself, are they not doing EXACTLY like what they complain other are doing?

So, are you being Pharisaical and not honoring the body of Christ? Or are you insisting that only YOU are able to defend Christianity in whatever manner you choose?

I think that maybe you should be able to be critical, just like those you are telling to shut up. At least THEY are consistent.

  • God has washed us in so much grace in that He has run a sword through the head of Seeker Sensitivity gospel before this movement could really get grown.

Prosperity has infected America and the world for 30 years and we are just now seeing these "ministers" dying off one by one.

We pray to God that He would heal and restore and love His Bride.

  • the only problem with saying that you have to do expositional preaching is that the sermons in acts aren't expository. Also i tinhk if you go to many churches that ARENT seeker sensitive you'll still get the same results from a survey like that. because as a general rule large churches aren't made to make disciples.....hmmmm

  • haha I love that WOTM intro

  • Embarrassing broadcast. Bill is a worshipper, lover of God and promoter of Truth. He is a humble man who was willing to admit an area that over time did not work. "Way of the master" is promoting disunity among believers and 5 minutes after this show I had to stop listening because it was so terrible. I would suggest looking at your own words and content first before criticizing others.

  • PART 2. ... Queene ... the problem is, no one seeks the Lord (Romans 3) UNLESS God first seeks them. ... So in a way, there is and there is not any such thing as a seeker, it depends on your defination. But for the sake, we should not model our church service around non Christians because again, the purpose of church is to teach and equipp the Christians to ... go out ... That does not mean we are mean or unwelcoming or unloving, or unkind or that we don't invite people back.

  • @Brian685 I agree. Didn't God make a second covenant & put the laws in our minds & hearts? My job is to love all who cross my path, stay humble & live my truth. Those who don't know or understand God can't be taught. One can't teach empathy or compassion. Either you are or you're not.. So many try to change someone. It's like going to an apple tree & wanting a peach. I'm happy to share how I've been changed by the holy spirit but don't push it upon anyone. I didn't learn anything at church. :(

  • Unsaved people that the holy spirit urges into church are looking for church to look, sound, and fell like the world they are in. They are there because of the world they are in. They are looking for something different.

  • God bless you Todd.

Look up "Dean Gotcher" he explains the roots of what the churches are really turning into.

    Love,

    Ron and Connie L.

  • See, Mike Brau who taught there mixed both together evertime He had the lead. Just go see him in Rockford. He was the true leader at the time He was there and was never afraid to read direct from the Word of God. Yet he still had a way of helping us all see Gods point and not just an easy fix. Hartland is very lucky.

  • It's Mike Breaux, BTW and, I go to Willow....at this point currently and, Bill is doing a GREAT job leading the church! I think people need to stop worrying about what's going on in the church rather, than what's going on in their hearts!!!!

  • Clearly, Hybels' strategy has been successful at bringing people into his church. His failure—now admitted—has been in ministering to those who have subsequently grown.

Meanwhile, the Willow Creek surveys revealed a hunger for spiritual knowledge among the mature Christians who had come through the Willow Creek system, suggesting that these conversions are NOT superficial.

I don't think we should be passing too many judgements.

  • BALANCE - It's not all one thing and none of the other- But a healthy balance of both-

Jesus told sayings ( Truths to disciples)

And then he spoke in parables to the multitudes.

    Health is possible through balance

  • BALANCE - read your Bible and find out why He spoke in parables to the multitudes

  • parables to the multitudes were told in the open air, not in church setting. If we are to reach out to the lost, it should be outside the church. The church is for the believer, to make disciples. Go into all the world and preach (kerusso) the gospel, making disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all things. It should be in that order. Thanks.

  • Sometimes, it is because of this "seeker"-sensitive nonsense that I feel most uncomfortable going to most churches. If I was a father, I would fear taking my kids to most of these churches.

  • The fact is that there are few real Christians in the world. Bill Hybels and Rick Warren compromise the biblical message of repentance, because at the Bible's heart is FUNDAMENTALISM, the fundamentals of Christian doctrine. This would turn off self-centered Boomers and X'ers who want their "needs" met. This is the crowd to whom Hybels and Warren pander.

  • Excellent video, thanks for posting it.

Seems to confirm the prophecies about what will be going on in the end times, wolves in sheeps clothing.

Keep up the good work LaneCh!

  • "you're not making any changes to those non believers" probably should be thought out a little. Is that statement coming from a new believer, or a super religious idiot, that is more concerned about themselves, than reaching other people. Yep, thats the same people Jesus had to deal with, they hung him on a cross, maybe you are so concerned about never swaying from expository preaching, that you haven't got that far in the bible yet? Why are churches declining, simply look below.

  • Actually churches are declining and going liberal because men love the darkness rather than the light. Of course, you're only going to know that if you exposit John 3, but hey, why take Christ's word for it? He's just your Creator, right? "Better keep 'em flattered and ignorant than taught and repentant." It's the unbeliever's theme.

  • If Jesus preached like Hybels, I highly doubt he would have ever been put on a Cross. Because Jesus didn't compromise the message and appease and tickle men's ears.

  • "Is that statement coming from a new believer, or a super religious idiot"

Josh, I think you owe LaneCh an apology for this statement.

  • "3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." (2 Timothy 4) Those are the people that sway from expository preaching. Sound doctrine is nothing but teaching about Christ and His kingdom. If one doesn't like expository preaching on doctrine that person may not be saved. They should check their heart.

  • yeah, jesus was oppressed fo sho. there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with being creative with church, nothing wrong with using your brain that God gave you for His glory, huh? But it is good to make sure that you're not ONLY reaching, but building as well. We are the body. People who don't like this type of church can put their energy into other types, and we can work together to move people along, closer to our God! We should stop wasting time criticizing, and start a coalition of emphasises!

  • The problem with your reasoning is when does a person stop "being creative" and start preaching the Gospel? The places all boast that they bring people into their buildings, but when do they stop focusing on that and start focusing on preaching the truth which is offensive to the unregenerate mind? It's thoroughly deceptive to try to trick people into a place of business like that, much less the fact they never get preached the truth; only topical sermons.

  • God bless you LaneCh for taking a stand and contending for the Faith. Don't lose heart, brother. Your labor in the Lord is not in vain!

  • This is NOT shocking, this a DUH moment! I mean come on, you're not making any change to those non believers, you're pretty much just telling them "you're find the way you are just please come back we need the numbers, we'll conform to you you dont have to conform to Christ" it's sickening and a FALSE GOSPEL!

  • last i checked, Jesus came to seek and save the lost. he was greatly opposed by the religious pharisees as well...

  • Yes, he did, and yes, he was.

  • yes Jesus came to save the loss. But what tends to happens in these buliding is the non-bliever stay non believers. The "Church" then becomes like the world. same divorce abortion rate ect. remeber the wrold church comes from the word ekklesia which means believers. what churches should be doing is teaching it's believers how to tesify whitness and preach so that the spirt of the lord moves in them. It's not man who saves its jesus

  • @ultimatepb Yeah, didn't he say that the church had become a, "den of robbers?" If most focused on saving themselves, they would shine and could just be. Ego's and politcs are everywhere. I've seen plenty of ministers who associate themselves w/ what they've done to grow the cause. Where is God in all this? Live your truth and they will come. :)
