I hope Chinese people will respect Wushu, their own teasure more! You know in China, few people know the names of the champions of Beijing2008Wushu, not to mention wish their children to become a WUshu athlete. To be honest, only children of poor family will do some Wushu training.
In the eyes of most Chinese parents, WUshu, unlike TaKundo or Karata, has nothing to do with gracefullness or wisdom.
@gui123you 1, you're wrong, 2, you don't seem to understand that wushu, as it is now, is a composite of traditional chinese martial arts, unlike Karate or Taikwondo, which are more like what they've been. Wushu in it's current form is new, most people associate gracefulness and wisdom with the old forms, they're not used to the new
Of course I know there are old forms too. Don't u think Wushu as the magic stuff in JinYong's novels. In China, the traditional forms all consider themselves as authentic or original, and say bad about others, and most of them deliberately make their Kungfu so mysterious that makes it impossible for normal people to access Wushu. Of course, it is not those old masters to blame. I did not say current form better than old form or it represents all, because there's no way to compare.
How comes that there came a new form, and everyone began to say "It is not original, so it is bad."? Can you say that the current Karata is the enemy of old karata?
On the contrary, the new Karata easier for normal modern people to access, drew the attention of world to the Japanese culture and every old Japanese Karata masters should thank the new Karata!!
Similarly, the new form of Wushu, is just one branch of Chinese Wushu, but this little guy is the key for us to reach out and develop in our world nowadays!
It was really really ridiculous to come up with argument among Chinese themselves whether new Wushu should join Olympics. Some stupid argue "The old form will be lost!", what a idiot
Let me ask u, how many young people practice Wushu nowaday? How many parents consider Wushu as a bright future for their kids? None!! So pathetic.
@gui123you please, I didn't expect you to be quite so vehement and I'm not sure how I inadvertently offended you, you clearly feel passionate about this, but I don't quite see your point. Chinese parents don't see wushu as a way to a bright future for their kids any more than American parents see kickboxing or fencinf as a way for their's. I don't think that's a problem, it's a not as well known for of athletics! How many people even see things like football as a good future for their kids?!
@gui123you to continue, I do both traditional and am learning modern, so yes, I do know that there's more than what's in Wuxia novels...considering that all the major forms take apprentices and open up wuguans(chinese for dojos, I apologize for translating if you know chinese) it's not that hard to access. And yes, each group is justifiably proud of their heritage, I haven't heard shaolin monks making fun of wutang, not sure what you mean by the talking bad.
As far as I am aware, the rivalry is frinendly, and it's not like you can't learn from several different sects, so again, I don't understand. I also don't mean people feel that wushu(as it is now) is necessarily "bad." The whole thing is complicated and can be summarized by the wushu is performance based where kung-fu is application based. There are people who dismiss wushu because of that. It;'s not a question of "enemies" more that ppl associate grace and wisdom, as I said
with the old forms. They don't really see it in the new because, as I said, current wushu is for show(don't get mad over this, it's part of the definition of current wushu). This may change with time and people are generally impresed by wushu performances. It's just that some people find it empty. I hope this made some sense, if not, please PM me, I think we've taken up enough space here.
thanks for all of you guys who comment on my site ... !!! thanks for the attention on me !!!its my honour to have ur such nice words here !!! this video of mine ... its all my old stuff ... i will ask my friend mark moran to make a new one for me ! hope u will like it !!!
