I think it's foolish to jump to irrational conclusions without even having all the facts first. We dont know who killed her and we dont know why, Lets just wait for the police to do their job and we can address these problems after finding out why she was killed. Domestic violence is present in the South Asian community just like it is in any other ethinic group, its a sad reality but I dont know why we need to have this discussion when we dont even know who killed her.
@imnotdiddy I don't remember having a discussion with you about anything, but as for who killed Maple or why that is still up for public debate. Personally, police are only capable of so much & it would be prudent for the South Asian (or as some would say, the Punjabi) community to step forward to help end domestic violence and/or street violence that affects young lives.
It's called being a part of the solution, not the problem.
@imnotdiddy Another thing, for all the videos I've watched, & who & why people make them I think we need more in the line like I make. I don't splice & dice the info into "cute catch phrases" to keep the viewers attention distracted away from the topic. Plus, I offer a solution in the form of a Foundation that represents something for the community, & for the nation.
Plenty of bandwagons to jump on, but only it depends on which 1 you want.
@NuNationsUnity what im saying is that you are jumping into conclusions without knowing all the facts. Do we even know whether it was a man or a woman who shot Maple?...No. We dont know the motive and we dont even know if she knew her murderer or if he ( or she) was a random creep praying on young women. Hold on to your judgments until you have all the facts.
@imnotdiddy I haven't jumped to no conclusion, & fact there is an underlining problem regarding a traditional form of "domestic violence" within the culture of people immigrating into Canada from India. It is a fact, that the ethnic group Punjabi is a predominate group in & around this area & with that comes their emotional bagage.
People who suffer at the hands of domestic violence normally know their assailant, as so do people/women who get raped or molested.
@imnotdiddy Side note: This all happened around the time when that man who paralyzed from the neck down & who was in Canada illegally was fundraising for money to stay. The temple protected him & even house him too, & had little girls drop money into his lap, but no help for the child I came with.
@imnotdiddy Ask yourself who benefits by having Maple in a perpetual state of beauty via an early death? Ask yourself how a little sullen girl magically morphes into a diva long before young girls joined social networking sites?
@imnotdiddy Finally, I looked after a little girl for 3 & half yrs while her community cared not for her. I even went to the Punjabi temple asking for help but because she was Tamil I was ignored 7 told to go away.
I on the other hand am working around the confines of being broke, & it's hard to accomplish much without adequate resources to get you through to the next stage/level.
Consequently, I've been broken in spirit to soem degree in that I don't believe in the political process as everytime I have put forth a proposal, it's been denied on 1 level or the other thus wiping out what I wrote. Yet, not long after something simlar pops up out of no where, to where I just say to myself, hmmmm?
I've often wondered why it's been so difficult for me to get this non-profit I work on off the ground as i have done pretty much everything by the book. For crying out loud I even have a federal trademark name, but in Surrey it seems to be laughed at as if it means nothing to nayone important. Needless to say, that makes me question the integrity of our laws & of course, politicians whether local or provincial.
There are so many social injustice's and current day flaws in our government and policing that are causing these problems. And to fix the people you must fix the system. Don't forget Canada provides that atmosphere we live in. I try to live a legit life with out resorting to crimes and violence but I have to resort to violence to protect my self and i think how can I change this and because I went that path with open ears and open eyes I see what causes the problems..
That's just the way the government wan'ts it.. To keep public in fear.. and fear others in the community to prevent unity "To divide and rule" tacit has never been so great in our present day society.. With media (music, news, religion, fear stereotype's, racism etc). And yes.. If corporate corruption wasn't so great then yeah most youth would feel they have a chance to become what ever they wan't to be, but we just don't have that these days..
The community might stop this with the children.. Even then you can't control the path your kids are going to take.. If its up to the community to change things it has to be in unity and in a revolutionary way.. The only way for people to stop this to use vigilantly justice or to try to intervene with the crimes being committed. With that comes a risk of death and serious injury.. Not many people are willing to take that risk.. All men these days are cowards.
This soictey has made generations of cowards.. "A man that is not willing to die for something is not fit to live - Dr Martin Luther King Jr." "If your not willing to die for it, put the word 'freedom' out of your vocabulary - Malcolm X" The only men that are left and are willing to die for there believe's and cause's get lable'd as criminals, thugs and gangsters because men have lost there path.. to fight for freedom and for the community..
@DrSatan187 A 19yr old youth just died a 11 days ago for trying to help break up a fight on a bus up on 72st. Kids were rumbling all up & down on 72 right after skating, so the youth who got stabbed was probablly a victim to that occurence in which, no one seems to be addressing. From what I heard, cops had a heck of a time chasing kids all over that night, while youth themselves were acting unruly.
Give me some money & I'll get those kids on the right track but that would require risks too.
@DrSatan187 Really, how does a person just shake off yrs of investment & all just to avoid acknowledging that to stay quiet on matter of social importance whether for fear of disturbing the status quo, or for peace of mind as in being ignorant/naive is more reasonable, than say to keep moving forward?
@NuNationsUnity As I said if you want change you must change the system in a revolutionary way.. I never said once to stop what your doing.. If anything educate adults and your peers about the flaws in the system and youth violence and how its tied together. I don't mean to imply to stop what your doing or lose faith.. Nor do I think your incompetent.. Try not to take what I said as an attack when everything I said is 100% true.
@DrSatan187 On the contrary, I didn't comprehend your statements to be an attack on what I do or on me personally, as a matter of fact I sympathize/empathize with you. In short, I was just openly sharing my struggles in a brief way, & perhaps looking for encouragement to keep pushing forward despite all the obstacles in the way.
As for a revolutionary solution I brought in X, as in Malcolm X only by chance or by fate, & through the non-profit I work on a supplement system can be established.
@DrSatan187 Not that it would make a difference but for those who put a thumbs down on something they themselves couldn't do, clearly shows they don't want change. It's enough to get involved just like when working with the kids, & even then some people couldn't get past their own bias attitudes, so it just goes to show the ignorance they like to perpetrate.
@DrSatan187 Of course, the last statement wasn't directed to you personally but I'd like to see the people who thumbs down this video step up to the plate & do 1 themselves. Let them try & talk about cultural traditions & attitudes that adversely affect the health & welfare of minority women, & women since childhood who have been conditioned to be submissive even in abusive relationships.
To not talk about it only breeds the problem under a fantasy that isn't real.
The cops started this gang war by arresting the top UN gang leader.. Because of hes arrest the drug trade became open for various gangs.. Now gangs are at war for the control of drugs sales... And in the process is causeing small gangs to fight and thugs to fight in retaltion of there friends being killed or hurt.
@DrSatan187 I don't know what to say about gangs other than these people who find themselves in this type of lifestyle need to start using their critical thinking skills, & if they don't want to do that then they need to ask themselves why?
Also, it would help if society would stop rewarding corporate corruption as then maybe the playing field might become more equal to where young people feel they either have a fighting chance in life, and/or a moral code of ethics becomes more prestigious.
funding local youth initiatives never mind a provincial one to where we can get the kids directly involved with the process of what it is going to take to begin breaking this cycle that many are finding themselves in. Cops play the dirty guys @ the expense of following orders to a higher power that prefers corporate profit over social accountability, while the kids are left with few resources to help them make it into adulthood safely.
Take profit out of the equation & we might get somewhere
Anther factor is the women.. A lot of girls like to get with guys that fight, do crimes, and have cash. So when your in grade 8 and you see your grade 9 dealer friend who has a new girl friend every week and anther friend who fights and robs is having the same fun as the dealer... You wan't that too.. Cash.. Money.. etc.. So theres many factors into this and main reason I find is Government funding, Cops, Women.. and Drugs being illegal to fund organized crime.
Anther thing is drugs, In school they teach you drugs are bad.. crack weed.. herion etc.. By the time you reach high school you have probaly allready try'd your 1st joint... Thus making you think if they lie about that.. What else are they lieing about.. Thats what I thought.. I was 12 when I started smoking pot.. then by the time i was 14 i was drinking, poping E, snorting coke..smoking DMT.. etc etc.. tell I was 19 years old.. Many youth go threw these problems..
Also what needs to change is cops attitude towards youth, I was 15 years old when I 1st got attacked and knocked out by a Vancouver Police Officer, since that day I have hated police and there laws, which forced me to take the law into my own hands which I do tell this date, When i was a teenager I and everytime I think of cops I have memories of them yelling at me, illegaly searching me, calling me names.. treating me like shit.. Abusing me.. Etc.. Theres many reasons why the youth are violent.
Beef is 4 life.. Most beef starts in early high school.. With these murder's its only going to cause many more murders.. I my self never leave my house with out a weapon, I use a Master lock (padlock) tied to a bandanna.. This won't stop until the government changes there act.. (more youth shelter's for homeless youth) More out reach workers (to help find At-Risk Youth) services for counciling or Drug and Alchole counseling sending people to YCC or North Fraser Re-man center only makes it worse.
@DrSatan187 I agree highschool seems to be a difficult time for a lot of youth while the core programs that address this age group isn't filling in the gap fast enough. Back in 2005 or so, something like 2 million $'s was funded by the gov to educate kids on the subject of meth, but it is my opinion that money wasn't enough as after all was said & done, the problem still remains but only to where the level of violence has gone up in communities & not down.
@NuNationsUnity I 1st tryed meth at the age of 15, back in 2002.. Every one my age never new how highly addictive it was or how it can kill you and cause brain damage by being sleep deprived.. There needs to be more service's for Youth and Young Adults and Adults.. Where do you think most of these people learn there crimnal ways from? and who do they look up too? Adults that have gone that path and have stayed in that path.. With no help or services just jail..
@DrSatan187 yes, meth has taken so much away from 1 of my kids who became fully addicted by age 13 to that stuff, & many youth from the neighborhood back in those days suffered greatly as well. My experience was the kids were being punished for becoming addicted, but the adults who supplied the drug to the youth never suffered any consequences despite what was going on was a crime. Police either had their priorities wrong or it was social services, either way countless lives where destroyed.
@DrSatan187 I'd like to try & work on establishing a recovery house for individuals between the ages of 19 to 30yrs old, but only the person/landlord I approached on this idea whom seemed interested in the initial inquiry at that time, seems to have gotten cold feet as he hasn't responded to my e-mail. Currently he's renting out a house that is/are infested with drug addiction & mayhem but because the property is up for rezoning I guess it doesn't matter in a $ sence when looking to sell.
@NuNationsUnity If they really wanted to curb violence they would re right the training manuals for police to not be to trained to intimidate and to use force when there are other means to handle situations, Cops need to be more educated in psychology, and programs like that. It would be idle to have counsilers and Youth advocates and one to one workers and soical workers as cops since they know how to deal with people mentaly and if need be to use force.. This gang way was started by cops..
@DrSatan187 Rewriting manuals could be a useful tool but it is still going to require more than that, but that leads us back to the community in which we as a collective are failing the youth as we sit back waiting for the gov to solve our problems. It's like talking in circles while time is being used against us as a weapon, & whether that weapon isbeing used to accumulate more personal wealth on the beholder of wealth, it is still a technique being used province wide to avoid accountability.
Unfortunately, we'll all be waiting for a long time for any gov to take youth violence seriously as collectively it appears most are comfortable to rely on the court system to solve our social problems.
It's hard to get the community involved as when trying to do so, I found people in general begin to draw racial lines in the sand, thus giving the excuse they either don't want to participate because they already do for 1 group, or it's simply not their problem. Hard to ask South Asians to ..
help poor white kids, & hard to ask white people to ask poor black kids, & hard to ask black people to help poor native kids, and so on. Every group is on a mission but none of us seem to be getting to far with any of it.
Notice too, people don't seem to concerned about youth gathering in Newton to rumble, but then it would take murder to get most folks to notice but even then nobody would take responsibilty never mind acknowledge that surrey has a problem with misinformation to keep the masses dumbed down.
This has also been a struggle in other communities like Caucasians as well in terms of domestic violence. Perhaps Vancouver has a majority of an South Asian population so you think it is exclusive to them. All I have to say is widen your viewpoints, rather than saying only domestic violence exists amongst the South East Asian communities and of course it would be better to gain local help to educate people to bring about change.
@dhreetik Seems kids are rumbling in Newton for no reason other than to act irresponsible while we adults nit pick on the smaller points to avoid taking any responsibility.
HOOD VIOLENCE - NEXT DOOR - MAYOR X SPEAKS (2 of 2)
To add to that I believe the way you have described the issue doesn't seem to be wise by only focusing on unequal rights in the South Asian community because it exists in the Middle East as well and even in the Canadian populations that are not immigrants. Additionally as far as the burning of women go it's been reduced to one percent in India.
@dhreetik 20 million children homeless in India, get the number right which means 1% of your estimate would still be VERY HIGH, considering this misconstruded conception of using women as property and/or as throw away items because a man got bored, jealous or didn't want to take responsibility in any manner that he signed up for.
This isn't about Muslims and the burka, or about Sharia law, but about Punjabi's living in Canada & what they have brought with them.
Why is this being a specific community issue when it's spread all around. The fact that women aren't treated equally in one community is totally an understatement because on a holistic scale this is wide spread problem. It's unfair to say only the South Asians need to be educated because this concept applies to the First Nations as well.
@dhreetik If this would have happened in the First Nations community I would have addressed some of the issues that this particular group faces as a collective, but as it is Maple was born in India/Mumbai which from what I am learning, has a crinimal problem where the kidnapping of young girls is routinely practice, so that they can be injected with hormones to make them mature faster for the purpose of prositution. Wife burning isn't enough it seems.
@dhreetik Okay, I don't know how you did it or why you are trying to cause distention other than to distract, but your posts have disappeared just as your subscription to my channel (although, I know you canceled your subscription because you didn't like the way I was responding to your remarks on this thread).
No worries though, as a dirty pool player is just that, a dirty pool player.
@ajohal154 clearly ur a punjab so ur offended by my brutal truth I say what everyone feels and thinks get over it. I never disrespected her or what her family goes through I am just saying if she was with any other race of man she would not have got shot down. You punjabs think you can do whatever to your women so deal with the truth in your community!
Social values are to protect our kids & peace in our social system. Love, Love Marriage, Live-in-Relationships is creation of Economic base Democracy design to kill social sense most aggrassive ends up with distasters. Arrange Marriage is most peaceful, respectful, sucessful concept to get merry. Kids fight get killed even in west other social & health problems we no need at any cost. We treat women Honor, creator of this world. West never give respect to women, still treat as marketing tool.
Conflict #4, is where I disagree with the BC Liberal government to where they said they funded after school programs, but only to a degree as what they really did was leave the larger burden on the "community service providers", which made it hard for many groups to establish long lasting & effective programing for a countless # of kids. I am in the trenches so I know.
Also, we need to continue to support schools, but we also need to bring more programs right to the youth where they live.
Conflict #3 Under the initiatives I work on in essence it boils down to job creation to produce either a product or service, but I am a poor women struggling in a capitalistic society that still operates in a sexist manner.
In other words, these kids (all kids) need more opportunity & what I have seen so far is, the videos are providing the problem but few solutions in terms of what are the alternatives to gangs.
Under current economic times, no matter what, we need to fill in the gap.
First, I applaud the youth for being candid with their experiences as it shows resilience on their part to want to surpass on what is oppressing them whether by environment or via socially. They're showing leadership which isn't alway easy & especially for young people who are going against the current norm.
Secondly, I love shopping in those markets up on 120st. I am a regular customer & I'm hoping to establish a "food dehydrating initiative" to help support school lunches.
Conflict #2, as much as I respect people & the various religions within the human race, I will not put on a headdress, unless done so by MY choice, & not because it was required of me in order to be able to walk into a temple.
It's a rant (or X Rant), but none-the-less a sore spot with me. I am a free being, & a caring being. Enough said.
Conflict #1, cops shooting before asking if the gun is real, & that's because under current USA policing criteria it is being militarized to where many (mostly minorities) are being shot to death by multiple bullets from cops. In other words, people are executed before going to trial or being charged, & that is my opinion as I canot say I work in the field/trenches, but still believe in Canadian law/princples/values. We have rights in Canada & especially vulnerable kids/youth.
well the way you are stating in your video it seems like ALL OF THE SOUTH ASIAN COMMUNITY treat woman awfully. that's wrong. and its not JUST south Asian community that treats woman awful too
well the way you are stating in your video it seems like ALL OF THE SOUTH ASIAN COMMUNITY treat woman awfully. that's wrong. and its not JUST south Asian community that treats woman awful too
@FezHussain I made an effort to on this thread to acknowledge that domestic violence which results in death is not an isolated problem to South Asians. However, when doing the video I was focusing on what the larger inter-connected community as South Asians, have to endure as a collective because of a few. There is a difference but understand my goal is to help end all violence, in care of Maple's sacrifice.
Reporting on the death of young people is disheartening.
Punjabs, east indians, indo-canadians, south asians whatever you want ot be called make all other "brown" ppl like Fijians, Trini's, Guyanese, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankans etc we look bad to everyone else cuz they can't tell the difference. It's sad that your parents are too busy trying to compete with each other who has the biggest house and nicest car instead of being home for their kids who then learn material things are the only thing that matter and become drug dealers. Pls watch warrior boys!
@fijianflygirl I have started to watch the documentary called " Warrior Boys" & will add the link so others can do so, as well. Thank you for bringing this to my attention as it helps to educate on the fly so that we all can move forward in an effort to begin putting an end to community violence whether it relates to gangs, crime in general &/or domestic battery leading to death. I'll comment again after watching the whole episode.
@fijianflygirl Ok, I am going to do this in batches & give you my straight out opinion on subject matter as I watch, but first let me say, "I will always be MamaLynn", so again thank you for helping me to connect with the youth, as clearly from watching 2 videos so far, the youth are crying out as many are across the nation. I feel their pain & understand their plight, & I walk the talk so my priority is to build on SOLUTIONS.
Already, I am hearing similar crisis as the youth speak.
@FezHussain Maybe you should state the facts yourself if you know them, & stop being so elusive as to what facts you are refering to.
Do you have any SOLUTIONS regarding the matter of stopping violence being perpetrated against women within the South Asian community, or that 20 million children in India have basically been abandoned by those /us who live in the Western world in favor of accumulating personal wealth for self?
@FezHussain Here's another another question to help you out, but first a statement. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and with that said, is wealth measured through material belongings or through vested morality that stands up on principle to do the right thing being what you think you've accumulated on this earth, you will surely not be able to take it with you when you leave?
@fijianflygirl It's a social problem that extends into all races & economics, but we just happen to see more domestic murder within the South Asian community in relation to the high numbers of immigrants from India. India is a big country with 20 million homeless children while most of everyone here in BC including people from Fiji don't care.
@fijianflygirl If you're offended by the stigma attatched to "all" South Asians which should be attatched just to Punjabi's, "bottom line" you are missing the purpose of this video and the message it is trying to send, which does no justice to Maple and other victims of senseless violence. We all (every race) have the opportunity to come together and create a change that has the capacity to end violence (within every race). Show some respect during this trial the community is going through.
The Lady says "its like this in the S.Asian Community where women're treated as property".Why the S.Asian,S.Asian Community has so many different cultures. She should' ve said "the Punjabi Community" which would've been a better concept. The Punjabi Community is always harsh towards women in these matters and this is a very old-fashioned approach within a community.Yes,there are a lot negative influencing on girls specially those from a regulated society but there are ways to deal with it.
@davrockify In my mind, East Indian's wanted to be called "South Asian" which is to mean Pungabi, but not Hindu. Sorta like the blacks in the USA, first it was negro & then color, then onto African American to where now many people just perfer being called black.
I think poverty of the mind plays a role here, but that's getting to deep.
What is needed is a new immigration policy that states there will be no tolerance of archaic cultural practices that are antithetical to Canadian values!
Instead of having new immigrants memorize the names of past prime ministers or provinces, they should be made to renounce all of their primitive and violent "cultural" ideas, IF they want to be a part of Canadian society!
As Asians provide huge voting blocs, politicos don't give a fuck that they are destroying what used to be a great country!
@Bongofury361 u racist sob this has nothing to do with immigrants theres bad people in every community. your acting like white people dont do anything wrong in society... our community is a lot more succesfull than your commmunity and i dont even know why your saying this you should be saying r.i.p instead u ignorant bastard.
You fuckers are some of THE most racist people around!
I have been assaulted, and I and my family have been put through hell by you backward people...so I know of what I speak!
Canada should ship you all back to India so you can fight for your cherished kalistan on the soil you belong!
The reason you fuckers are so successful is because you cut corners, undercut everyone in whatever industry you infect, hire only your own, and rip-off the EI system!

@ranjot2010 I don't like to be censored, so I will not censor this thread & knowing that subjects can change as quickly as the topic to get to the point in a round about way, we "all" will just go for the flow.
Maple's death is the symptom to a larger problem like so many other young lives lost, but only in this case a misconstruded conception of what is "manhood" has continued to hastened the ideology that women are property. This is a learned behavior & systemic across all racial lines.
@ranjot2010 Now, it just so happens that Surrey is a predominantly South Asian community that has it's problems just like most other communities, & those problems come in from all different angles with ethnic tradition being 1 of them. In India women are still set on fire, & last yr or so, a woman was set on fire here, not to mention other domestic violent acts perpetrated against women which resulted in murder/s.
@Bongofury361 Yes, we have a problem too in the general over all "social engineering" that is being politically fed to further disenfranchise 1 or more group/s of people to favor that of another. Of course, a price is paid.
Even though there is a minority of men within the South Asian community who don't believe in equal rights for women, it still has the impact of resulting in death. I agree with you, more needs to be done, it is getting out of hand. Hopefully the disgusting act of Maple's death will create a positive change. Rest In Peace Maple.

DrSatan187 4 months ago

NuNationsUnity 4 months ago
@DrSatan187 Really, how does a person just shake off yrs of investment & all just to avoid acknowledging that to stay quiet on matter of social importance whether for fear of disturbing the status quo, or for peace of mind as in being ignorant/naive is more reasonable, than say to keep moving forward?
Do I throw away 11 yrs?
NuNationsUnity 4 months ago
@NuNationsUnity As I said if you want change you must change the system in a revolutionary way.. I never said once to stop what your doing.. If anything educate adults and your peers about the flaws in the system and youth violence and how its tied together. I don't mean to imply to stop what your doing or lose faith.. Nor do I think your incompetent.. Try not to take what I said as an attack when everything I said is 100% true.
DrSatan187 4 months ago
@DrSatan187 On the contrary, I didn't comprehend your statements to be an attack on what I do or on me personally, as a matter of fact I sympathize/empathize with you. In short, I was just openly sharing my struggles in a brief way, & perhaps looking for encouragement to keep pushing forward despite all the obstacles in the way.
As for a revolutionary solution I brought in X, as in Malcolm X only by chance or by fate, & through the non-profit I work on a supplement system can be established.
NuNationsUnity 4 months ago
@DrSatan187 Not that it would make a difference but for those who put a thumbs down on something they themselves couldn't do, clearly shows they don't want change. It's enough to get involved just like when working with the kids, & even then some people couldn't get past their own bias attitudes, so it just goes to show the ignorance they like to perpetrate.
NuNationsUnity 4 months ago

DrSatan187 4 months ago
@DrSatan187 I don't know what to say about gangs other than these people who find themselves in this type of lifestyle need to start using their critical thinking skills, & if they don't want to do that then they need to ask themselves why?
Also, it would help if society would stop rewarding corporate corruption as then maybe the playing field might become more equal to where young people feel they either have a fighting chance in life, and/or a moral code of ethics becomes more prestigious.
NuNationsUnity 4 months ago
funding local youth initiatives never mind a provincial one to where we can get the kids directly involved with the process of what it is going to take to begin breaking this cycle that many are finding themselves in. Cops play the dirty guys @ the expense of following orders to a higher power that prefers corporate profit over social accountability, while the kids are left with few resources to help them make it into adulthood safely.
Take profit out of the equation & we might get somewhere
NuNationsUnity 4 months ago
Anther factor is the women.. A lot of girls like to get with guys that fight, do crimes, and have cash. So when your in grade 8 and you see your grade 9 dealer friend who has a new girl friend every week and anther friend who fights and robs is having the same fun as the dealer... You wan't that too.. Cash.. Money.. etc.. So theres many factors into this and main reason I find is Government funding, Cops, Women.. and Drugs being illegal to fund organized crime.
DrSatan187 4 months ago
Anther thing is drugs, In school they teach you drugs are bad.. crack weed.. herion etc.. By the time you reach high school you have probaly allready try'd your 1st joint... Thus making you think if they lie about that.. What else are they lieing about.. Thats what I thought.. I was 12 when I started smoking pot.. then by the time i was 14 i was drinking, poping E, snorting coke..smoking DMT.. etc etc.. tell I was 19 years old.. Many youth go threw these problems..
DrSatan187 4 months ago
Also what needs to change is cops attitude towards youth, I was 15 years old when I 1st got attacked and knocked out by a Vancouver Police Officer, since that day I have hated police and there laws, which forced me to take the law into my own hands which I do tell this date, When i was a teenager I and everytime I think of cops I have memories of them yelling at me, illegaly searching me, calling me names.. treating me like shit.. Abusing me.. Etc.. Theres many reasons why the youth are violent.
DrSatan187 4 months ago
Beef is 4 life.. Most beef starts in early high school.. With these murder's its only going to cause many more murders.. I my self never leave my house with out a weapon, I use a Master lock (padlock) tied to a bandanna.. This won't stop until the government changes there act.. (more youth shelter's for homeless youth) More out reach workers (to help find At-Risk Youth) services for counciling or Drug and Alchole counseling sending people to YCC or North Fraser Re-man center only makes it worse.
DrSatan187 4 months ago
@DrSatan187 I agree highschool seems to be a difficult time for a lot of youth while the core programs that address this age group isn't filling in the gap fast enough. Back in 2005 or so, something like 2 million $'s was funded by the gov to educate kids on the subject of meth, but it is my opinion that money wasn't enough as after all was said & done, the problem still remains but only to where the level of violence has gone up in communities & not down.
Liberal gov is not interested in
NuNationsUnity 4 months ago
@NuNationsUnity I 1st tryed meth at the age of 15, back in 2002.. Every one my age never new how highly addictive it was or how it can kill you and cause brain damage by being sleep deprived.. There needs to be more service's for Youth and Young Adults and Adults.. Where do you think most of these people learn there crimnal ways from? and who do they look up too? Adults that have gone that path and have stayed in that path.. With no help or services just jail..
DrSatan187 4 months ago
@DrSatan187 yes, meth has taken so much away from 1 of my kids who became fully addicted by age 13 to that stuff, & many youth from the neighborhood back in those days suffered greatly as well. My experience was the kids were being punished for becoming addicted, but the adults who supplied the drug to the youth never suffered any consequences despite what was going on was a crime. Police either had their priorities wrong or it was social services, either way countless lives where destroyed.
NuNationsUnity 4 months ago
@DrSatan187 I'd like to try & work on establishing a recovery house for individuals between the ages of 19 to 30yrs old, but only the person/landlord I approached on this idea whom seemed interested in the initial inquiry at that time, seems to have gotten cold feet as he hasn't responded to my e-mail. Currently he's renting out a house that is/are infested with drug addiction & mayhem but because the property is up for rezoning I guess it doesn't matter in a $ sence when looking to sell.
NuNationsUnity 4 months ago
@NuNationsUnity If they really wanted to curb violence they would re right the training manuals for police to not be to trained to intimidate and to use force when there are other means to handle situations, Cops need to be more educated in psychology, and programs like that. It would be idle to have counsilers and Youth advocates and one to one workers and soical workers as cops since they know how to deal with people mentaly and if need be to use force.. This gang way was started by cops..
DrSatan187 4 months ago
@DrSatan187 Rewriting manuals could be a useful tool but it is still going to require more than that, but that leads us back to the community in which we as a collective are failing the youth as we sit back waiting for the gov to solve our problems. It's like talking in circles while time is being used against us as a weapon, & whether that weapon isbeing used to accumulate more personal wealth on the beholder of wealth, it is still a technique being used province wide to avoid accountability.
NuNationsUnity 4 months ago
Unfortunately, we'll all be waiting for a long time for any gov to take youth violence seriously as collectively it appears most are comfortable to rely on the court system to solve our social problems.
It's hard to get the community involved as when trying to do so, I found people in general begin to draw racial lines in the sand, thus giving the excuse they either don't want to participate because they already do for 1 group, or it's simply not their problem. Hard to ask South Asians to ..
NuNationsUnity 4 months ago
help poor white kids, & hard to ask white people to ask poor black kids, & hard to ask black people to help poor native kids, and so on. Every group is on a mission but none of us seem to be getting to far with any of it.

To add to that I believe the way you have described the issue doesn't seem to be wise by only focusing on unequal rights in the South Asian community because it exists in the Middle East as well and even in the Canadian populations that are not immigrants. Additionally as far as the burning of women go it's been reduced to one percent in India.
dhreetik 5 months ago

It's unfair to say only the South Asians need to be educated because this concept applies to the First Nations as well.
dhreetik 5 months ago

NuNationsUnity 5 months ago 3
Conflict #3 Under the initiatives I work on in essence it boils down to job creation to produce either a product or service, but I am a poor women struggling in a capitalistic society that still operates in a sexist manner.
In other words, these kids (all kids) need more opportunity & what I have seen so far is, the videos are providing the problem but few solutions in terms of what are the alternatives to gangs.
Under current economic times, no matter what, we need to fill in the gap.
NuNationsUnity 5 months ago
2 compliments:
First, I applaud the youth for being candid with their experiences as it shows resilience on their part to want to surpass on what is oppressing them whether by environment or via socially. They're showing leadership which isn't alway easy & especially for young people who are going against the current norm.
Secondly, I love shopping in those markets up on 120st. I am a regular customer & I'm hoping to establish a "food dehydrating initiative" to help support school lunches.
NuNationsUnity 5 months ago
Conflict #2, as much as I respect people & the various religions within the human race, I will not put on a headdress, unless done so by MY choice, & not because it was required of me in order to be able to walk into a temple.
It's a rant (or X Rant), but none-the-less a sore spot with me. I am a free being, & a caring being. Enough said.
NuNationsUnity 5 months ago
Conflict #1, cops shooting before asking if the gun is real, & that's because under current USA policing criteria it is being militarized to where many (mostly minorities) are being shot to death by multiple bullets from cops. In other words, people are executed before going to trial or being charged, & that is my opinion as I canot say I work in the field/trenches, but still believe in Canadian law/princples/values. We have rights in Canada & especially vulnerable kids/youth.

Do you own a hummer?
NuNationsUnity 5 months ago 9
@FezHussain Here's another another question to help you out, but first a statement. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and with that said, is wealth measured through material belongings or through vested morality that stands up on principle to do the right thing being what you think you've accumulated on this earth, you will surely not be able to take it with you when you leave?
NuNationsUnity 5 months ago 7
Bottom line it's a Punjab problem I don't like being labelled as South Asian being Fijian are men aren't that crazy lol
fijianflygirl 5 months ago
@fijianflygirl It's a social problem that extends into all races & economics, but we just happen to see more domestic murder within the South Asian community in relation to the high numbers of immigrants from India. India is a big country with 20 million homeless children while most of everyone here in BC including people from Fiji don't care.
NuNationsUnity 5 months ago 10

The Punjabi Community is always harsh towards women in these matters and this is a very old-fashioned approach within a community.Yes,there are a lot negative influencing on girls specially those from a regulated society but there are ways to deal with it.
davrockify 5 months ago

NuNationsUnity 5 months ago 12
@ranjot2010 Now, it just so happens that Surrey is a predominantly South Asian community that has it's problems just like most other communities, & those problems come in from all different angles with ethnic tradition being 1 of them. In India women are still set on fire, & last yr or so, a woman was set on fire here, not to mention other domestic violent acts perpetrated against women which resulted in murder/s.
We have a problem.
NuNationsUnity 5 months ago 15
@Bongofury361 Yes, we have a problem too in the general over all "social engineering" that is being politically fed to further disenfranchise 1 or more group/s of people to favor that of another. Of course, a price is paid.
NuNationsUnity 5 months ago 11
Even though there is a minority of men within the South Asian community who don't believe in equal rights for women, it still has the impact of resulting in death.
