This is such a poor rendering of this story. The reader has no emotion whatsoever. Vincent Price did one of the finest interpretations of this story ever recorded, and it's available on YouTube. Watch that and hopefully you'll be able to tell that this reading is embarrassingly poor.

@SuperSDal Whether or not it was his own heart, it was not the old mans. He was insane, and felt very guilty after the slaughter, and the guilt he felt caused him to hear the thumping, which may as well have been his heart. But we shall never know.
