we had an illegal hook up of HBO in the early 80s.i was like 7 or 8 and this movie would scare the fucking shit out of me.this movie and my bloody valentine were some scary shit when i was a kid !
saw this this morning on netflix, totally by accident- corny film but brought back memories from 8th grade- Good watch, sheriff and wife have zero chemistry. The Mortician is laughable- some scary scenes though...on a 1-10 scale- a strong 6
Watched this last night. What a surprise! I had no idea it was going to be so good. While it wasn't "perfect", it was right up there with a great De Palma film for me. Some seriously freaky bits, too. Loved the scene with the family in the house. So much atmosphere.
I'm glad that I got the 2-disc Limited Edition of this movie when it came out! This is one of the greatest horror movies ever made! An excellent atmosphere throughout and incredible jump-scares!
@royalnaz1 the point is bitch-ass bean counters in Hollywood don't give a SHIT about originality, and bitch-ass consumers don't make producers work for their money by making an original product. Tell your friends to stop giving their money to those who don't deserve it, and to ignore all the bullshit marketing that Hollywood sends out and instead concentrate on objective REVIEWS.
@AghastRaven Yeah it's extremely worth it, so much so that a very high profile movie from the late 90s ripped off the ending. Can't tell you which one cause it'll give it away. Definitley watch Dead & Burtied though you'll love it if you love a good 80s murder mystery and suspense film!
i wasn't born in the 1980s...but I wish I could travel back in time to when media was like it is in this trailer...the voice...the artistic backdrop at 1:49 ......the video quality...
I feel like I was there...the 80s means so much to me...
this was a pretty good movie.... for all those who watch it keep an eye on the sherriff the way through the movie he messes with his hand BRILLIANT foreshadowing by the writer/director worth a watch.....
I've never seen this film; it was placed on the list of banned movies in the 1980's in Britain while, say, Carrie, Dawn of the Dead and Halloween escaped such notoriety. Was it really "that" violent?
Not sure how the movie is, but you should read the book. Not easy to scare me, but that book terrified me, surprising ending, but now that I reflect on it 25 years later, it so much applies to what's going on in the world today. Definitely read the book.
Compared to Carrie and Halloween, yeah. The only reason why Dawn of the Dead wasn't banned is because the version that was released there was heavily cut to remove gore.
Dan O'Bannon can do no wrong. Well except for Futurekill. He wrote some of the best sci-fi and horror films of all time. Alien, Total Recall, Heavy Metal, Dead and Buried. And directed the best zombie flick of the 1980's--Return of the Living Dead. Sucks he's gone now :(
The waitress with the bouffant hairstyle looks exactly like this girl in high school to the T. She had the bouffant, the dark hair, scary stare too. Freaked me out when I saw her in school. I bet she still has that hairstyle. Who played the waitress anyway?
@atomicwendy This movie is so surreal. I saw it back then and it scared the hell out of me and still does. It's one of those horror films that make you think.
@robbiesyohn i meant in general. if theyd remake this movie they would put in some "stylish" effects, sexy young actors, cool jokes, maybe even 3d and other shit.
@atomicwendy you are right. No remake could do this. But you know what would be a funny prank. I am a practical jokester, get some friends dressed up as the characters in Dead and Buried and get a camera and go to their house and scare the pants of of them and start taking pictures. It would make them shit their pants I'm telling ya. This movie just won't leave my mind. I'm still seeing it in my head.
I just watched it last night I thought it was fantastic.
The opening music alone was very creepy, mildy disturbing, unsettling and pretty atmospheric. One of the best horror movies I missed out on from the 80's!
@LizzyT123 I remember being a kid with the TV on at night and one of those horror movie spots would come one and freak me out SO MUCH because of the narrator's voice. At 37, I still get chills when I put on one of these old trailers and hear that VOICE!
@LizzyT123 This guy, Percy Rodriguez, was a major part of my childhood. A great actor and voiceover legend (the trailers for Jaws, Poltergeist, The Stuff, The Exorcist, Madman, The Black Hole, on and on).
Creepy! I want to watch it! They don't make horror films like they use to. I'm a sucker for these old films and I'm the same age as this film, oh I feel so old!
Hello again! I´ve seen DAB yesterday and surprisingly it was pretty good. Sometimes a little cheesy with oldschool - effects, but overall one of the better 80´s horror-movies i´ve seen. Not an "Evil Dead", but nevertheless very entertaining. If i could get it for about 10 bucks, i would!
Thanks! I will be on the look out for it so I can watch it then buy it. Have you scene lets Scare Jessica to Death? I watched it and it was strange. Oh I watched Eaten alive It's strange not really scary. I think it's Robert Englund's First horror movie he stared in before Freddy Kruger,Check it out if your a fan of Tobie Hooper the guy who did Texas Chainsaw. The old Man in that movie is a real nut bag and mumbles to him self. I laughed through the whole thing. If you want a good laugh watch it
