the part about reading the neurons in the brain reminded me of a study a came across not so long ago where some researchers managed to get reconstruct images (moving) from human brains, first thought was "damn in the near future we may be able to record our dreams!" the images at the moment were very "low res" but were very similar to the images there test patients were shown for the experiment. awesome stuff!
well, if the Bible is god's word - The ways of God are above human understanding; this would include human logic. "Vengenance is mine says God." He's God. He's in Heaven doing whatever he wishes.
Since the ant starts releasing pheromone when they find found, how do they find their way back to the nest then without any memory? Video cheats by showing them find some found very near the nest. Probably the answer is cause they wonder a bit and meet some other paths leading to the nest, but that would mean that for a new nest (if we place ants at a newly create artificial nest), they wouldn't easily find their way back till lots of food is randomly found and NEST is again randomly spotted
I think it should have been mentioned more clearly that when the first ant finds food and goes to the nest emitting pheromone, the next ant who finds the trail it left doesn't start emitting pheromone until it finds food. So when an ant finds only one crumb of food and emits pheromone, the other ants won't enforce the route until they find food there themselves, thus routes that no longer lead to food vanish. I'm not sure if I'm right but that's the image I got.
@iwasborninyourbutt yes u will just die and thats it, u dont need to worry about hell or karma. however if the only thing stopping you from acting in an immoral fashion is the fear of punishment you are a very sad human being and not in the remotest sense even worthy of your fictional heaven.
@ralphzimmermann In another sense this 'moral' behavior you speak of was decided by your society. It's not necessarily right or wrong, it's just the common behavior that society decided for itself. Now someone believing that this common behavior isn't the right one for them should have the right to do so, and leave the society and form their own with their own moral values or join some other one. The problem with this is that it's not possible. Your common moral view is forced on everyone.
@dexluther Morality is a complex subject that i dont think we can discuss on here. my statement was purely ment in a simple sense such as "killing someone is bad" or "helping an old lady across the street is good". my point being was, fear of a Gods punishment for doing "bad" or not doing "good" is a poor way to live your life. That would mean that individual has not tasked themselves with taking responsibility for there own actions and proves they lack empathy. which society needs to work.
@ralphzimmermann Societies have always functioned on fear though. Fear of the king, fear of the religious leader, fear of the government. There's always someone at the top going "Either you do good things, which is what ever I decide it is, or you'll be put in jail/to death, sacrificed, etc"
We even still have societies that think it's their right/obligation to dictate the morals of other societies.
@estefez wonder how that vengence thing is working out.... have it lead to the police and jail thing? The Lord can do more than I ever could. Oh the vengeance he will have to deal out.
and for you this is a 'good thing'? this is also one of the main reasons i know your chosen 'god' does NOT exist. vengeance is not logical and a god most certainly should be don't you think?
This is how they make an AI think , by using simple patterns of code , and interactions between each equated code to the next , still a long way off from fully sentience , AI's do now have the ability to conduct simple conversations ,
@CopperFangunlimited I went to dairy queen once and the guy there said that he was everyone in the universe and everyone was him, this made sense, as I've told people for almost a year before, that I was a figment of everyone else's imaginations
I said so in the technical sense, we are one because we are made of the same matter. we are the consequence of the cosmic emergency, in physical facts.
And I made an annecdote! I feel special because I've used up about the same amount of energy with the same amount of cosmic influence and I feel good about it!

It is amazing, how awesome the Creator of Ants, DNA, seeds, humans etc. has got to be. It is also amazing, the complex arguments people will come up with, to try to ignore, this Awesome God, & His infinitely complex creation. Design & build a working ant, from raw materials, & then talk about how the complexity of an ant is an illusion. We could put 1000 scientists to work, with trillions of dollars in resources, & they could not build a working ant from raw materials. God spoke & it was done.
You ought to study the raw materials a whole lot more closely. There is no possible way that they could. No human has ever or will ever assemble from raw materials anything that will live.

Cloning a sheep is about as close to creating a working ant, DNA, a seed or any other living thing from raw materials, as someone claining to have gone to the moon in a rocket ship, because they launched a bottle rocket on the 4th of July. but people are always willing to ignore all evidence of a Creator, to keep living in their sin, with hopes they will not have to answer 4 it 1 day. Jesus is the only way to heaven, & 1 day every knee will bow, & every tongue will confess, Jesus Christ is Lord.
Way to provide reasons for your illogical thought process. Do you even know how animals are cloned?
Even if your retarded analogy was correct, that still provides no reason to believe in jesus LMAO. Wtf are you serious man? Why should I worship so dead guy? Kind of creepy if you ask me
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Yes, a living sheep cell, is mated with a sheep Egg, when successful, you have a sheep genetically the same as the sheep from which you used the living sheep cell., Very far from dead matter being brought to life. Jesus Christ rose from the dead like He said He would, He declared Himself to be the Way to Heaven, and declared that He was going to lay His life down for us sinners, and that He had power to take His life again. He was seen by over 500 eye witnesses after He rose from the dead.
cloning is a breakthrough technology, & as difficult a time as humans have in doing such a basic manipulation of life, should give us all the more reason 2 believe in an amazing Creator, who made some amazingly complex things.
I do certainly believe in demons, & I believe that ghosts & ufos are demonic in their nature. The bible describes most angels as having wings, but when they appear 2 men, they usually look human. Demons are fallen angels, & I believe they can alter their appearance also.
I agree, if everyone thought and acted the same as me, that would be some possible evidence of evolution. The uniqueness of everythihg is strong evidence for a Creator. Evolution would indicate much randomness exists. One of the things that scientists cannot even acieve is true randomness. We can only get randomness within certain parameters, which is not true randomness. God designed things so well, that we cannot achieve randomness, yet everything within His creation is amazingly different.
Diversity is the point of evolution, The things that don't have the right mutations or traits die. If something cannot maintain internal diversity, one plague can wipe it out. For instance, my pinky is crooked, It was not made crooked, nor has it been broken. I write with my pinky down to the table, and over time, Cells that were too strained died, while new ones replaced them, until slowly, they reached a more relaxed state by generations of death and rebirth.
you will be saved in the moment that you stop to be obsessed with the concept of sin. " that obsession becomes into hypocrisy, and that is the worst sin" (just remember Ted Haggard) Jesus hate hypocrisy!!
John 3:36 "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life, and he that hath not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him."
John 3:18 "He that believeth on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." hypocrisy begins when we bocome obsessed with the sin of others, and ignore our own identical sins.
I think you fail to realize how much money trillions of dollars is. I am not 100% sure but I am willing to bet all of my money that all the money ever spent on research in the history of the world isn't much more than trillions of dollars (if that). You also fail to realize how smart our scientists are. Give them trillions of dollars and they will do it in years. Correct me if I am wrong but we cloned a sheep didn't we?
@OntologicalQuandary 1000 billion dollars means very little in the midst of big egos. the greatest discoveries in science havent hinged on gargantuan budgets, just dedicated individuals. i think you dont understand how much technology is stifled and that the main reason is intellectual materialism. given infinite resources, you still wont see the kind of progress you're forecasting unless people themselves change. only dumb people use the word smart, there is only propensity
As long as you ignore the complexity, & simplify the very basics, of how something operates, then U can play like there is no complexity? A computer is just basically some wires & pieces of plastic, nuts & bolts, put together in a certain order, there is no chance that a computer comes together by random chance & there is far less odds that even more complex things like DNA & seeds came together by chance. The ability to break complexity down to less complex levels does not negate complexity.
Amino acids and the pieces to DNA are easy to recreate in common circumstances. It is improbable that they will ever form into life, but then again, It was impossible that the titanic could sink wasn't it.
It will never be impossible for anything man made to be destroyed. The Bible says pride goes before a fall. I think the Titanics doom was sealed, the moment man thought he had achieved a ship that could not be sunk. The odds of amino acids and the pieces of DNA coming together to create life are mathematically, exactly zero.
The bible also says that their are windows holding an ocean above our heads and that the sky is solid. The process of hydrogen bonding between the benzene derivatives that make up our genetic code is so easy That our bodies, do it on a daily basis, like it or not, life is just a fancy organization of matter, and the probablity is obviously MORE than zero because, Hey, how's life I'm an organic creature.
Having read the Bible over a dozen times, I would like to see your chapter and verse on your allegation that it says there are windows holding an ocean above our heads and that the sky is solid. I don't even know of a verse that could be twisted badly enough to say anything near that. Build me a DNA molecule from raw matter that will work, then tell me again how easy our genetic code is. You may disbelieve God if you wish, but you will meet Him after you die, every knee will bow to Him.
I believe in a god, just not your bible, not your way of live, nor the rules you try to force on us through blind devotion. The reasons I do not subscribe to That which has set human evolution back by over a millenium are all color coded, highlighted, and indexed in the skeptic's annotated bible. Google it
Genesis 1:6,7 talks of waters above the earth being separated from waters on the earth. We have a form of this even today with clouds, though I think it was quite different before the Flood. I believe the flood took down this upper water possibly protective barrier over the earth. Humans have been in a constant state of deevolution. Our technology improves, our humanity deevolves lower and lower. We are getting more self centered, and selfish, more cruel and hostile to others and also God.
The flood only happened in the area surrounding the mediterranean, Geological strata shows this quite plainly. And We do not Devolve, We changed the environment to suit OUR preferences, Eventually we will have such control over it we will hit the technological singularity, invent strong AI, and then become a single cosmic technorganism. One does not un-evolve. That's implying there is perfection, which is against the law of equillibrium. There are only circumstances, and what can happen in them
Evolution is at war with the 2nd law of thermodynamics. Nothing improves itself over time. Everything breaks down and decays over time. The flood was world wide, that is why there are sea shells by the thousands on the top of the highest mountains. If the flood were in one area, God would have told Noah to move, not build an ark. Man is not now, nor ever will be God. We may get a lot smarter, but the foolishness of God will always be wiser than the wisdom of man.
Nothing improves itself ever, to improve is subjective. We gain our energy from the sun which is, thankfully, supplying ALL the energy that is on this planet in some way shape or form, and it is from there that we make up our entropic losses. Those shells are on the mountains because of plate tectonics which made the mountains in the first place. And If the tale of noah WASN'T exaggerated then why are there no marsupials in Saudi arabia.
I also would like to point out that human kind's major trait is our intelligence, our ability to become smarter, The Christian church's (among others but this one is the worst) suppression of any logical idea erradicated any chance of say, us being on the moon, 600 years before we actually reached it. Now that faith has dropped, We can talk to anyone, anywhere in the world instantly, among many other things.
and if you don't believe that's true, I've got a list of names here.
Galileo, Boylston, Copernicus, Bruno,
not to mention Darwin, and Anaximander who came up with evolution 24 centuries before darwin. Not natural selection, but evolution's basic. Humans weren't originally humans.
Evolution is the basis for racism. The Bible teaches God made all nations of men of one blood. God created man directly, and He created monkeys directly. They each bring forth after their kind, as God determined they would. Monkeys always have monkeys, people always have people. Humans have always been humans though we do seem to be deevolving and getting less humane. Jeremiah 17:5 "Cursed is the man, that puts his trust in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from the Lord."
So was adam black? Or white? Did he look japanese? Korean? Did he have a big nose? Was his penis big or small? Did he speak with a refined welsh accent? These are Tiny changes that echo through our blood, some helped us to survive or get mates, others were just hanging on. I say cursed is the man who see not the wisdom before him, and lean on the words of the blind who would describe a flower's color to him.
Adam may have been black, white, red, yellow, or somewhere in between. We each only get half of the genetic information that our father has, and only half that our mother has, our genetic information gets more shallow the further we get from the original. A toy poodle, cannot deliver a great dane, a great dane cannot deliver a toy poodle, they both came from the same original dog ancestor.
If a child of a black man, and a white woman, marries a child from a red man and a yellow woman, they could once again produce a child with any of the four major colors found in humans. Genetic information is lost the further you get from the original, but it is possible to pick parts of it back up again. Adam and Ev e may have each carried all for colors in their genetic information, or they may have each carried two colors, but every human is a descendant from Adam and Eve.
I would also like to point out that science itself admits it may be wrong, as it often has been in the past. Case point, Kepler, who believed the perfect solids had something to do with the orbit of the planets, went to discover not only that he was wrong but that the orbits were eliptical, and that their orbit covered equal area through equal time.
There is no such thing as perfection, only perspective.
Science can be wrong, but macro-evolution does not even qualify as science, it is a baseless theory, with no evidence, all evidence that exists points away from macro evolution. No kind of animal ever has an entirely different kind of animal. All of the dating methods R based on circular reasoning. They have no idea how old a fossil is without knowing the layer it was in, & they have no idea how old a layer of earth is without knowing what fossils R in it. The earth is less than 7000 years old.
So you're saying that Every animal must look exactly like either one of it's parents? What about the baby born with a underdeveloped conjoined twin, born on Shiva's holy day? Or Red hair? And what about radiometric dating? Not to mention We CAN track how old a rock is without fossils because, hey, Not all rocks have fossils. look at most igneous rocks, like granite. which takes a long time to cool in order to form the crystals of feldspar and mica around the more common Quartz.
Animals, like humans, bring forth after their kind. An animal can only inherit genes, that its parents had to pass on to it. All of the dating methods are fatally flawed, because they are based on assumptions that are not correct. The main assumption being that everything is continuing the same way today, that it did 5000 years ago. The dating methods at best produce an educated guess, but even our best education, brings along with it a lot of assumptions, that may or may not be correct at all.
This is true, It is mutation that allows evolution, Genes only go so far, Evironment in the womb, slight imperfections within the developed brain itself, radiation etc; red hair is proof of this. As for assumptions we make less than you do, you say there is a being outside of equillibrium. You know my arguments you have likely heard them before. What is it that makes you believe the words of dead men who claim the heavens are changeless and that the sun orbits the earth? Convince me.
convince me and I will join you. But I warn you, only reason, good reason, will win me over. We are both human, We both believe what we are taught because we have no time in this mortal coil to verify it all. Tell me, A human, that with reason, your bible is the only truth in this world.
Some of the reasons I believe the Bible are as follows: There is no book in the world more published, which is something you would expect from a book written by God. There is historical, archeaological, scientific, logical, experiential and prophetic evidences to back it up. Our calendar still revolves around Christ, though there are efforts to change it. Nearly every religion in the world, teaches something of Jesus Christ. Many that he was just a prophet, like Buddhism, Islam etc.
The bible was forced upon nations by brutal conquerors. also The date of christmas was changed to fit the Roman holiday Mithras, . And yes, I believe in jesus as a person, not a super hero, Even he rebeled against the majority of your religion. Whether or not there is a god, I do not care, whether or not Jesus walked on water, I do not care. I will not follow a religion which has done so much to kill others in the name of compassion.
The Catholic church mostly tried to suppress the Bible and keep it in a language that was not understood by most people Latin. Jesus taught to love our enemies and to do good to those who hate us and despitefully use us. Jesus taught that He is the way to heaven, not any man made religion, which I agree with you very much that He opposed very often the religious attempts of man. The Bible is without question the most printed book ever, you can verify this through other sources.
I think that was one of the point where it was edited, more to the point I think that Jesus was not the way to heaven, but his teachings rather, were a way to heaven. This is all if heaven exists, which is still in debate.
I misread that, there are more Muslims than roman Catholics. over all, Christians are still a minority. And you still haven't tried to justify what the church has Done. The Vatican has yet to issue apology to those it has hurt. From whole races, to individual people. Again, people like Galileo.
I would never try to justify the evils done by the Catholic church, or any other church. The real church, that Jesus established, is not any man made institution, but is rather made up of every true believer in Christ. There may be a few true believers in Catholicism, but Catholicism in general may very well be the harlot church described in the book of Revelation. The Catholic church has been responsible for murdering many people who were a part of Christs church.
@baksh yeah but the simplest piece is beyond our comprehension. and fractal simplicity? addition is simpler with positive integers. im pretty sure the system runs on some kind of fractal engine enabling infinite resolution, but all we observe is the end product. its like saying a movie is simple because you can make an LED.. wait.. christian boy is right, its cocky to say its an illusion of complexity, OO programming simplifies programs but it doesnt make it any easier. we have a long way to go
Nice vid. I have a slight object to the semantics you've chosen though: just because you describe the mechanics of complexity, does not mean that something is not complex, or that its complexity illusory. But that's a question of definition.
Still, it's certainly worth making the point that every complex process we know of seems to be emergent from less complex constituents.
could it be that nothing really matter? that we're just products of gene and environment living in a rock hurtling through space and the rock is dying.
How did the ant-trail suddenly disappear? That didn't sit well with me. When the foodsource is depleted, do the ants excrete another chemical to kill the trail?
The smell is not permanent...The smell trail depletes over time naturally. But the ants keep spitting chemicals as long as the food is there and they stop spitting when the food source runs out and the trail disappears naturally.
It would be interesting if you could understand neuron functions, because then we could make a huge leap in computer programming and make actual AI units. That would surely bring the world to a new level.
I have a question regarding that Ant example. How does the ants follow the continue to follow the same line if something suddenly goes wrong with the chemical trail? What happens to the chemical trailer when some animal or a person walks over it i.e steps on it (crushing a few ants in the process)? What happens then?
If you look at the increase of technology over a large scale, the rise in technology over time as well as the ability to research new technology is growing exponentially. Just wait until you see what comes out in the next 25 years. People forget that doubling the processing power means doubling your ability to research as well.
I'm sorry but Neurologist's at the University of Oxford's future of Humanity Institute have indeed been able to "Read" peoples memories by "Scanning" their brains. Also a team in the U.S is building a artificial human memory center in their lab. The human species is on the cusp of brilliant advances in knowledge related to the human brain especially regarding memory's.
Our lack of understanding of our minds is staggering. Love is one of those things people treat as a mystery but new studies show that in may be more logical and understandable than we thought. Check out my video series, "What the heck is love?" Especially part 2
I love emergent behavior. I've had an odd desire to make something like a colony of virtual bots on my disused desktop, give them some simple instructions and check on it to see if anything interesting appears over time.
Unfortunately, I don't know how I can do that, since I'm not a programmer.
Your looking for the program BreveIDE, it comes with several demo's that allow some of the tasks you mentioned. It will also allow you to learn to create more "specialized" behavioral traits.
Good video. If anyone has ever taken Computer science, they'll know for a fact that simple algorithms can create a seemingly complex function. But it's the algorithms that drive the complexity, and it's interaction with other algorithms and functions.
And the organisms that don't have a good function/algorithms mean they can't compete, meaning in Computer Science terms: Fails.
I don't know why people can't understand simple logic like this.
Again, a much to simplistic view of the mind. Our mind is a product of All our nervous cells, Not just those in the brain. Also, we have so much chemistry going, that it is undoubtedly part of our mind. Our brain is not the container of anything, except for physical matter. Psychological matter exists in the relationship between all parts of the whole being.
This is the exact point I tried, somewhat unsuccessfully, to make in a discussion with HonestDiscussioner who maintains that "we are our thoughts" (and that thought is solely derivative of the brain). Each human grew from a single cell, at every point in our development each cell had to communicate with its neighbours do decide the progress of growth. The whole body "thinks," the brain just has specialized function that organizes the input.
Yeah, true. The dichotomy of the brain/body still lives, even though it's completely absurd to think we were mere transportation vessels for our brain. There is no doubt that a lot of stuff is happening in our brain, but to neglect the rest is like saying "The engine makes the car able to drive" without recognizing that the wheels, axes and so fourth, play a crucial role too.
Artificial intelligence is exciting and scary at the same time. Imagine the possibilities with organic computing with AI thrown in for good measure. I am not talking about corny exponential databases or expert systems or junk like that, but true intelligence. We could have computers designing new computers, but I really don't think current computer technology will ever be intelligent, basic fundamental changes will need to occur first.
really? because it is estimated that by 2050 it will be possible to make a computer that has more computing power than the brain of every human being on earth
I guess u meant to say "more computing power then any human brain".
Either way the raw computing power gives nothing if there is nothing to run in it. That said, AI programs will probably as christo930 suggests be developed to run on different architecture then we have today. Maybe we will see something like a "positronic"(film:Robot) brain simulating neurons. Complemented with machines for raw computing.
So you might both be right but still, most predictions of the future tend to be wrong.
Nope, that's what he meant. I saw the same data he's read/watched. He literally meant "more computing power than the brain of every human being on earth". Actually, unless I'm mistaken, the details went further as to say that the computer would be $2000 in parts at that period in time.
Your point is still valid, though. After all, just look at the gaming industry. We haven't exactly gone leaps and bounds in AI complexity when compared, to say, graphics or processing speeds. Kind of sad, but it also has its benefits. After all, who needs a self-aware computer giving you crap all day. Not me.
Computing has not changed in decades, really they haven't changed at all since the invention of the transistor. They have gotten faster and memory has gotten faster and cheaper but chips still work the same way they did when the 4004 came out. As a matter of fact, if you have a floppy drive, you can still boot from a DOS disk (obviously, this is just pc's). Faster and faster doesn't mean smarter. True AI is going to need completely new hardware.
No, because all modern computers are built based on the basic model of the Von Neumann Machine (look it up!) - which can emulate pretty much ANY hardware structure you can imagine. It will run faster on real hardware though - new massively parallell software can run on today's processors with only 1-8 cores (soon to be 32 I think) - but will run a lot faster on hardware structures which actually implement thousands of different CPU cores. Like brains do.
I guess history is going to have to solve this for us.
FTR, we have software that runs on thousands of cores and have for quite some time. I really don't think we are going to have anything approaching a human brain in my lifetime.
If you're not too old you probably will should you live a decently longer life. We have begun to develop positronic circuits that do not run on binary language and are open ended. This technology will eventually be able to surpass our current understanding of artificial intelligence past our wildest dreams.
Have you ever seen the movie "Sleeper" by Woody Allen? There is a funny scene in it where he is assigned a new home after being brain washed. He is given small robot dog named "Rags." Woody asks "Is he housebroken or is he going to leave batteries all over the floor?"
the part about reading the neurons in the brain reminded me of a study a came across not so long ago where some researchers managed to get reconstruct images (moving) from human brains, first thought was "damn in the near future we may be able to record our dreams!" the images at the moment were very "low res" but were very similar to the images there test patients were shown for the experiment. awesome stuff!

Because you dont want to die. A fear of Death.

1000 scientists with trillions of dollars would easily build an ant from raw materials. Nice try though

He was seen by over 500 eye witnesses after He rose from the dead.
carterfamily8903 2 years ago
So you believe in ghosts and demons and ufos? Well over a million eyewitnesses to each of those...
And as for the sheep cloning, I never said it was bringing something to life from dead matter, it is just an example of breaktrhough technology
OntologicalQuandary 2 years ago
cloning is a breakthrough technology, & as difficult a time as humans have in doing such a basic manipulation of life, should give us all the more reason 2 believe in an amazing Creator, who made some amazingly complex things.
I do certainly believe in demons, & I believe that ghosts & ufos are demonic in their nature. The bible describes most angels as having wings, but when they appear 2 men, they usually look human. Demons are fallen angels, & I believe they can alter their appearance also.
carterfamily8903 2 years ago
dude .... if all humans think and act like you the 'creator' made some serious mistakes ...
freeenergyterminator 2 years ago 3
I agree, if everyone thought and acted the same as me, that would be some possible evidence of evolution. The uniqueness of everythihg is strong evidence for a Creator. Evolution would indicate much randomness exists. One of the things that scientists cannot even acieve is true randomness. We can only get randomness within certain parameters, which is not true randomness. God designed things so well, that we cannot achieve randomness, yet everything within His creation is amazingly different.
carterfamily8903 2 years ago
Diversity is the point of evolution, The things that don't have the right mutations or traits die. If something cannot maintain internal diversity, one plague can wipe it out. For instance, my pinky is crooked, It was not made crooked, nor has it been broken. I write with my pinky down to the table, and over time, Cells that were too strained died, while new ones replaced them, until slowly, they reached a more relaxed state by generations of death and rebirth.

complexity of all nature can be reduced and observed through Fractals and the law of it.
dna is a double helix structure with the same design within it.
trees branch off perfectly at set intervals using the same piece of information
veins and arteries flow and branch at set intervals using the same branching techniques as a tree.
trees in a forest are spread out accurately and discernably by fractal simplicity.
the pieces all together are complex, the single piece is not.
baksh 2 years ago 2
As long as you ignore the complexity, & simplify the very basics, of how something operates, then U can play like there is no complexity? A computer is just basically some wires & pieces of plastic, nuts & bolts, put together in a certain order, there is no chance that a computer comes together by random chance & there is far less odds that even more complex things like DNA & seeds came together by chance. The ability to break complexity down to less complex levels does not negate complexity.
carterfamily8903 2 years ago
Amino acids and the pieces to DNA are easy to recreate in common circumstances. It is improbable that they will ever form into life, but then again, It was impossible that the titanic could sink wasn't it.
Vennificus 2 years ago
It will never be impossible for anything man made to be destroyed. The Bible says pride goes before a fall. I think the Titanics doom was sealed, the moment man thought he had achieved a ship that could not be sunk. The odds of amino acids and the pieces of DNA coming together to create life are mathematically, exactly zero.
carterfamily8903 2 years ago
The bible also says that their are windows holding an ocean above our heads and that the sky is solid. The process of hydrogen bonding between the benzene derivatives that make up our genetic code is so easy That our bodies, do it on a daily basis, like it or not, life is just a fancy organization of matter, and the probablity is obviously MORE than zero because, Hey, how's life I'm an organic creature.
Vennificus 2 years ago
Having read the Bible over a dozen times, I would like to see your chapter and verse on your allegation that it says there are windows holding an ocean above our heads and that the sky is solid. I don't even know of a verse that could be twisted badly enough to say anything near that. Build me a DNA molecule from raw matter that will work, then tell me again how easy our genetic code is. You may disbelieve God if you wish, but you will meet Him after you die, every knee will bow to Him.

The reasons I do not subscribe to That which has set human evolution back by over a millenium are all color coded, highlighted, and indexed in the skeptic's annotated bible. Google it
Vennificus 2 years ago
Genesis 1:6,7 talks of waters above the earth being separated from waters on the earth. We have a form of this even today with clouds, though I think it was quite different before the Flood. I believe the flood took down this upper water possibly protective barrier over the earth. Humans have been in a constant state of deevolution. Our technology improves, our humanity deevolves lower and lower. We are getting more self centered, and selfish, more cruel and hostile to others and also God.
carterfamily8903 2 years ago
The flood only happened in the area surrounding the mediterranean, Geological strata shows this quite plainly. And We do not Devolve, We changed the environment to suit OUR preferences, Eventually we will have such control over it we will hit the technological singularity, invent strong AI, and then become a single cosmic technorganism. One does not un-evolve. That's implying there is perfection, which is against the law of equillibrium. There are only circumstances, and what can happen in them
Vennificus 2 years ago
Evolution is at war with the 2nd law of thermodynamics. Nothing improves itself over time. Everything breaks down and decays over time. The flood was world wide, that is why there are sea shells by the thousands on the top of the highest mountains. If the flood were in one area, God would have told Noah to move, not build an ark. Man is not now, nor ever will be God. We may get a lot smarter, but the foolishness of God will always be wiser than the wisdom of man.
carterfamily8903 2 years ago
Nothing improves itself ever, to improve is subjective. We gain our energy from the sun which is, thankfully, supplying ALL the energy that is on this planet in some way shape or form, and it is from there that we make up our entropic losses. Those shells are on the mountains because of plate tectonics which made the mountains in the first place. And If the tale of noah WASN'T exaggerated then why are there no marsupials in Saudi arabia.
Vennificus 2 years ago
I also would like to point out that human kind's major trait is our intelligence, our ability to become smarter, The Christian church's (among others but this one is the worst) suppression of any logical idea erradicated any chance of say, us being on the moon, 600 years before we actually reached it. Now that faith has dropped, We can talk to anyone, anywhere in the world instantly, among many other things.
Vennificus 2 years ago
and if you don't believe that's true, I've got a list of names here.
Galileo, Boylston, Copernicus, Bruno,
not to mention Darwin, and Anaximander who came up with evolution 24 centuries before darwin. Not natural selection, but evolution's basic. Humans weren't originally humans.
Vennificus 2 years ago
Evolution is the basis for racism. The Bible teaches God made all nations of men of one blood. God created man directly, and He created monkeys directly. They each bring forth after their kind, as God determined they would. Monkeys always have monkeys, people always have people. Humans have always been humans though we do seem to be deevolving and getting less humane. Jeremiah 17:5 "Cursed is the man, that puts his trust in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from the Lord."
carterfamily8903 2 years ago
So was adam black? Or white? Did he look japanese? Korean? Did he have a big nose? Was his penis big or small? Did he speak with a refined welsh accent? These are Tiny changes that echo through our blood, some helped us to survive or get mates, others were just hanging on. I say cursed is the man who see not the wisdom before him, and lean on the words of the blind who would describe a flower's color to him.
Vennificus 2 years ago
Adam may have been black, white, red, yellow, or somewhere in between. We each only get half of the genetic information that our father has, and only half that our mother has, our genetic information gets more shallow the further we get from the original. A toy poodle, cannot deliver a great dane, a great dane cannot deliver a toy poodle, they both came from the same original dog ancestor.
carterfamily8903 2 years ago
So, theoretically, let's say Adam was black, and eve was white. Where did the chinese come from?
Vennificus 2 years ago
If a child of a black man, and a white woman, marries a child from a red man and a yellow woman, they could once again produce a child with any of the four major colors found in humans. Genetic information is lost the further you get from the original, but it is possible to pick parts of it back up again. Adam and Ev e may have each carried all for colors in their genetic information, or they may have each carried two colors, but every human is a descendant from Adam and Eve.
carterfamily8903 2 years ago

I would also like to point out that science itself admits it may be wrong, as it often has been in the past. Case point, Kepler, who believed the perfect solids had something to do with the orbit of the planets, went to discover not only that he was wrong but that the orbits were eliptical, and that their orbit covered equal area through equal time.
There is no such thing as perfection, only perspective.
Vennificus 2 years ago
Science can be wrong, but macro-evolution does not even qualify as science, it is a baseless theory, with no evidence, all evidence that exists points away from macro evolution. No kind of animal ever has an entirely different kind of animal. All of the dating methods R based on circular reasoning. They have no idea how old a fossil is without knowing the layer it was in, & they have no idea how old a layer of earth is without knowing what fossils R in it. The earth is less than 7000 years old.
carterfamily8903 2 years ago
So you're saying that Every animal must look exactly like either one of it's parents? What about the baby born with a underdeveloped conjoined twin, born on Shiva's holy day? Or Red hair? And what about radiometric dating? Not to mention We CAN track how old a rock is without fossils because, hey, Not all rocks have fossils. look at most igneous rocks, like granite. which takes a long time to cool in order to form the crystals of feldspar and mica around the more common Quartz.
Vennificus 2 years ago
Animals, like humans, bring forth after their kind. An animal can only inherit genes, that its parents had to pass on to it. All of the dating methods are fatally flawed, because they are based on assumptions that are not correct. The main assumption being that everything is continuing the same way today, that it did 5000 years ago. The dating methods at best produce an educated guess, but even our best education, brings along with it a lot of assumptions, that may or may not be correct at all.
carterfamily8903 2 years ago
This is true, It is mutation that allows evolution, Genes only go so far, Evironment in the womb, slight imperfections within the developed brain itself, radiation etc; red hair is proof of this. As for assumptions we make less than you do, you say there is a being outside of equillibrium. You know my arguments you have likely heard them before. What is it that makes you believe the words of dead men who claim the heavens are changeless and that the sun orbits the earth? Convince me.
Vennificus 2 years ago
convince me and I will join you. But I warn you, only reason, good reason, will win me over. We are both human, We both believe what we are taught because we have no time in this mortal coil to verify it all. Tell me, A human, that with reason, your bible is the only truth in this world.
Vennificus 2 years ago

Vennificus 2 years ago 2
The Catholic church mostly tried to suppress the Bible and keep it in a language that was not understood by most people Latin. Jesus taught to love our enemies and to do good to those who hate us and despitefully use us. Jesus taught that He is the way to heaven, not any man made religion, which I agree with you very much that He opposed very often the religious attempts of man. The Bible is without question the most printed book ever, you can verify this through other sources.
carterfamily8903 2 years ago
I think that was one of the point where it was edited, more to the point I think that Jesus was not the way to heaven, but his teachings rather, were a way to heaven. This is all if heaven exists, which is still in debate.

I misread that, there are more Muslims than roman Catholics. over all, Christians are still a minority. And you still haven't tried to justify what the church has Done. The Vatican has yet to issue apology to those it has hurt. From whole races, to individual people. Again, people like Galileo.
Vennificus 2 years ago
I would never try to justify the evils done by the Catholic church, or any other church. The real church, that Jesus established, is not any man made institution, but is rather made up of every true believer in Christ. There may be a few true believers in Catholicism, but Catholicism in general may very well be the harlot church described in the book of Revelation. The Catholic church has been responsible for murdering many people who were a part of Christs church.

If you look at the increase of technology over a large scale, the rise in technology over time as well as the ability to research new technology is growing exponentially. Just wait until you see what comes out in the next 25 years. People forget that doubling the processing power means doubling your ability to research as well.

Faergen 2 years ago
"Our mind is a product of All our nervous cells"
This is the exact point I tried, somewhat unsuccessfully, to make in a discussion with HonestDiscussioner who maintains that "we are our thoughts" (and that thought is solely derivative of the brain). Each human grew from a single cell, at every point in our development each cell had to communicate with its neighbours do decide the progress of growth. The whole body "thinks," the brain just has specialized function that organizes the input.
Blackmark52 2 years ago 2

I am not talking about corny exponential databases or expert systems or junk like that, but true intelligence. TheChristianAtheist 2 years ago

There's also Quantum Computing, which will make our current best look as complex and fast as an abacus...

How to I remind the astounded ones - -if it isn't broke - don't fix it.

Have you ever seen the movie "Sleeper" by Woody Allen? There is a funny scene in it where he is assigned a new home after being brain washed. He is given small robot dog named "Rags." Woody asks "Is he housebroken or is he going to leave batteries all over the floor?"
