  • I love it no one even thought about putting some bs racial non-sense in this. Go see Biography Channel on them. At this moment in time the word "jive" was very black but they were Brits who didn't know the difference. Turned into a very multi-cultural song out of pure innocence. Love It.

  • Thanks so much!

  • Barry GIbbs = Whitest teeth ever

  • Please everyone be nice about Robin...hes sick right now.. please keep it positive for him..

  • My very dear and loved Robin can´t dance very well XD but he sings like an angel

  • That boy can't dance! It's a good thing we love him for his song writing and wonderful singing!

Stay with us Robin, we love you! Mo, RIP, we love and miss you..

  • george michael covered this

  • OMG! I love this video! The boys r dancing! This is very rare! It seems like they cooled it down after Saturday Night Fever but I love to see them moving and shakin'! Andy always danced his ass off and I loved it! I wish they did more..

  • HEY , THE ONE IN THE MIDDLE TRIED HIS HARDEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE DESERVES THE ATTENTION! THANK GOD FOR You !

  • @kountrygirls1

"the one in the middle" is Robin Gibb - probably the greatest voice in pop music :)

  • @comtransbg which is balanced by his hilarious dancing. LOVE this song.

  • Great song. For me the sax ruined the quality as you couldn't hear the lyrics/melody too well. I prefer the One Night Only version.

  • @a1193851 Yeah I´m agree with you I thought the same thing about the sax that was innecesary

  • where can i get the videos (OLD) ones ? anyone? which store?

  • God bless him, but it is embarrassing to watch Robin Gibb dance. In every one of these live clips from the 70s he's doing the same move--dancing hopelessly out of rhthym and kicking his legs around frantically. He looks like Elaine dancing on Seinfeld :) Still, it's a great song!

  • I mean correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the singer sell car insurance???

  • I'm 55 and as best I can remember is that this song was the first or one of the first Disco Song and it was good one, then it started going downhill not for the Bee Gees but all the crap Disco after this. Jive Talkin' had a bit of reggae mixed in.

  • It wasn't just the sound, it was the look. Woah! never was there cool like this.

  • @lollyclan So EFFIN true !!!!

  • man i want so bad to watch the whole concert but i dont know the order of the songs to add them to que and there are no playlists for bee gees songs

  • what a lame crowd if i got to see the bee gees play this song live id be going crazy

  • @fleshyvessel God yeah. It's like the didnt know they were in the presence of greatness.

  • Maybe their song...

  • Bee Gees owned the 70s.

  • They had Barry's mic turned down too low,

  • robin was soo cute then

  • One of the most wicked basslines ever laid down on vinyl.

  • @twilightzonicstars youre right! i just love the bass on this song!!!

  • YEAH! 1975 damn good year! My lil sis was born, me and my Dad were drivin to the hospital to see her for the 1st time in his magical Ford LTD. Long live this song....best memories ever.

  • This is an art form with politictions

  • The English aren't good dancers...but good singers.

  • @Timeofflux

lolol i was thinking the same thing.

  • The Bee Gees were never square or uncool, just very down to earth and talented performers!

  • I never respected these guys till I got older. I was anti-disco, but Barry was/is talented. Robin is a dork. Maurice seems like he was a cool person. RIP Maurice.

  • i love love love this song!! Even after hearing it 1000s of times lol. Doesnt get tired. Possibly my fav song of theirs by a mile. Night Fever is right up there too. Bee gees rock!!

  • Bee Gees: This song brings good childhood memories! Thanks!

  • This was back when beards were popular!!.

  • Only of my all time favourite Bee Gees tracks, this song is gold!!!

  • @countdownclips - It's not Gold! It's Platinum!!! One of the best songs ever by the Bee Gees. ;) I'm not really a Bee Gees fan, but this song 'just takes the cake'. Anyone that not just can't dance, but just won't dance to this song - just like Kool & the Gang's 'Get Down On It' (Now, that's a band!!!), must have bloody shit in their heads!!! I've seen disabled people in wheel-chairs or walking-frames trying to dance to these kinds of songs!! Today's music is just SHIT!!!!

  • these guys were money back then. They wrote hit songs easily and made allot of people allot of money.

  • Here Robin Gibb looks and moves like the sort of person who can't dance to save his life... they always looked like the most square and uncool people on the planet despite the great songs, like this one

  • what do you want robin to do, start break dancing!

  • Robin's dancing ?...Have you checked the audience ?...The Bee Gees made camp look cool...

  • I feel depressed now.

  • yay....love it.....

  • This reminds me of my mom and all her false promises.

  • wow thats like sad.... not in a making fun way but really like drepressed sad

  • @SexyRosie67 bad girl

  • I like the idea that they evolved into this quasi-R&B act as their early folky success was coming to an end. I really think it was a genuine move made out of love for the music. It's not their fault that Saturday Night Fever blew up two years later and they became a lightning rod for the disco backlash. Not that they cared!!

  • I think it says that only Australians were up to the task of bridging the gap between folk music and disco in the 1970's.

  • they were english though? they only moved to australia then back to england for their success.

  • Maurice plays a great bass line on this one

  • Heck yeah...Maurice could play just about anything and had an ACE voice. I wish he had sang more lead vocals!

  • Bee Gees 4-ever!!!

  • I like how Robin dance there... GO ROBIN!

  • i thought it was about some woman, who was messing with his head.

  • Why do you have to be a racist cocksucker ? Do you feel you are above the rest simply cause you were born white .

  • I love this channel another great classic thx for a great load of super vids

  • ZERO's theme song.

  • HAHA all I got to do is listen to Rap!! WTF!!

  • Disco? This is so rock and roll!

  • bee gees so seriously rock. in my opinion this one of their best songs, ever -- this live version is brilliantly funky and just off the chart lol!

  • lol maurice gibb looks like george michael from the wham days

  • For anyone interested in a little trivia: That 'chukka chukka' sound for the first 19 seconds (which is probably muted electric guitar played by Alan Kendall off camera) was something they came up with while driving to Criteria Studios in Miami one day (while recording the MAIN COURSE album). Barry described how there was a rickety, bumpy bridge they had to drive over, and as the car passed over it, it made that rhythmic sound. So they got the idea to use that 'groove' for this song.

  • That 'chukka chukka' sound for the first 19 seconds (which is probably muted electric guitar played by Alan Kendall off camera) - i don't think alan kendall was playing that one it was Barry, you can also see in the video :D

  • "Upon further review" (as they say in football), I think you're probably right. Barry's back is turned during the intro, but for about one second, at the :06 mark, it does look like he's strumming that part.

I stand corrected. Well spotted, mate.

  • yah robin is standing behind so we can't see barry strumming.. :)

  • yah.. robin is standing behind so we can't see barry strumming but as you've said on the mark 0:06 on the video you can see barry strumming.. :)

  • Yep. And I don't even hear Alan playing until ~ 2:43, where he just starts strumming a high note right after that ascending synth part (the pitch bend). You can see that Barry isn't playing it, but we can hear it. Then he (Barry) starts playing again when they launch back into the chorus.

To my eyes, the first sighting (barely) of Alan is over Robin's right shoulder at about 3:43.

Dang, this is gettin' down into the minutiae now!

  • I love that buzzy synth they added in that one part, Blue Weaver was an excellent player and programmer.

  • Great concert video, excellent song. I still have the original record album I bought when I was 12, in 1976. Good times back then.

  • The 1975 Main Course album was the comeback album for the Bee Gees after a few years of not so-so albums. The Children of the World album in 1976 completed their remarkable comeback. This type of revival reminds me later on of Chicago with their comeback album "Chicago 16" in 1982 and their follow-up "Chicago 17" in 1984 that propeled the band into a second wind of success.

  • The Bees Gees at what I would describe the second best moment of their career pre-Night Fever. The excellence of this epic group was captured to perfection in their 1st live recording...Live at last!!!

  • esta hermosa esta canción!!!!!! te amo gordo

  • LOVE IT! Heard it on my way home tonight and thought to myself, must find this on youtube tonight... A.W.E.S.O.M.E!!! Thanks for posting.
