However, i do think they should of gone straight to considering real actresses rather then making all those poor selena fans waste their time when at the end they chose Jennifer but atleast they used real fans in the movie so technically it's a win-win for everyone.

Before they opened the auditions to the public Gregory Nava offered the role to Salma Hayek, but she turned it down. They also considered Bibi Gaytan and Olga Tanon, although I don't know if they were ever asked.
@valzaidi Yea, I think Olga Tañon declined the role but the reason wasn't specified. I remember when i was younger, hearing that Olga felt she couldn't do the role out of fear of disappointing Selena fans but I can't confirm if it's true or not.

I think Selena's success so was impressive, not just because she was a female but bc she was also part of the mexican american community. So it was probably a bit personal to the mexican american community that someone not of their heritage portrayed someone so important to them. I very much doubt that any such secret exists. Yolanda shows all of the signs of someone with an obsessive personality. First she said she had financial papers in a safe deposit box. They were never found. Then she supposedly had a sex tape Selena made. The woman is a nut. She told Selena she was raped and they spent the entire morning before she killed her in the emergency room. The doctors found no evidence of the supposed rape.

I can see why they deleted this scene the movie was long and this doesnt fit the tone of the movie. It wasnt about the negative aspects of crossing over just that she was going to in a huge way. What a loss it still baffles me why god would aline the stars so perfectly for this beautiful sould only to take it all away in an instant by a psycho jealous bitch. Makes you wonder....

I can understand why people is complaining about how close they are to each other. But in latin culture, it is kind of normal to see siblings og6h opposite sex interact like that.
