Well near the end of the movie, she was struggling with withdrawl, she went to rehab, and she dropped out. Since then, she stopped taking her AZT, which caused her HIV to progress into AIDS. She was living on the street in the cold, and overdosed shortly before Mo and Jo found her. She temporarily "died" in Roger's arms, then came back to life.Does that answer your question?

No, both Angel and Collins had AIDS. In the play adaption it says that Mimi's HIV transformed into AIDS hence at the end of Goodbye Love " Goodbye Love, Hello Disease." Mimi always had HIV, from in La Vie Boheme, Mimi says (play and movie) "AZT Break", which is a medicine to help with slowing down HIV progression. It is never said how Mimi got HIV, though it is always assumed she got it from a)stripping or b)needle sharing.

Also, nobody knows how Collins or Angel got HIV/AIDS either. Just a hole in the plot.

I know what the difference is, I edit music and audio for a living for RENT's sake. There was nothing I could do with it, unless you want all of them sounding like chimpmunks.
