Well im not an expert in over clocking

but what i like from MSI 790FX GD70 is u can just overclock in on you're motherboard without touching something from the bios

or you can use overdrive utility from amd

so i say want easy over clocking do it with AMD :)

@raketenDK with this mobo i could overclock my phenom II 955 to 48 ghz... it would melt/instantly catch on fire. HOWEVER not the point- it depends if your cpu multiplier is unlocked. Unlocked amd cpus are called black edition or something like that.

45 is teh max i get usually 26 FPS and no need to get into a fight calm down i wasnt saying ati is for noobs im just saying i was dissopointed with my last ati card.And my friend has the same processor as me and he has a 9800 gt which cost 10 € more than mine and he has better frame rates on higher settings.and in my other rig my 9600 gt gets better FPs than my 4850 but in my other pc i have a better CPU.

Hmm Your Motherboard what Chipset have ? If you have Nvidia chipset no way ATI is not Good . If you have AMD Chipset belive me you will won in games like + 5-10 FPS . If you want a great card try 4770 from Sapphire becouse is Nice and new and beat up to 250 Nvidia Models ! Have a great Day

Yeah i was going to be getting a separate cooler, but i was getting a thermaltake v9 and that has like 4 case fans so, i didn't really need it.

Then as i was bored one day (away from my rig/babyXD) I was going through all the manuals i had kept, i found the one for the CPU, and omg warranty is voided if u install and use another CPU heat-sink, other than the one provided by AMD.

I will be upgrading that anyway so meh.

Well there's two problems with that..first of all, if you're gonna overclock, you might wanna get a 3rd party cpu cooler, but the on amd provides is still good, better than previous ones, or so i've heard. And secondly, if you use a 3rd party cooler, how would they ever know?

Hey, actually, all the bays can be used as 5.25 if you want.  you can definitely take the fans out to use them for CD drives or anything else you want, or you can leave the fans in and use them all for harddrives if you want.

I've never used the m4a79t, i know it's a very capable board, but i love my GD70. Very overclockable, in fact, when this board was being made, they had overclockers in mind. One of the best boards out there, i don't regret it.

i love this system, i love my mobo cause

i can do up to quad cf which alot of boards can't do that yet especially on the am3 controller. This board is very overclockable and is is a good investment. The board is called MSI 790FX GD70, i love this board also cause it uses amd's latest chipset the fx(not to be confused with the gx or the x)

Thx. I would prefer the GD70(mines), not that i'm being biased or anything, i just love it because it's capable of so much. Very overclockable, it has the overclocking buttons built right into the mobo and everything, this bored is capable of reaching ddr3 2133(oc). NOw that's major.

yea the stock speed is 1333mhz but the speed can always go higher with a little overclocking.

i can go up to 3.6 on stock voltage but for me to hit 3.7 i had to bump it one higher. The 955 max is 1333 i think but i can hit 1600 if i overclock the memory, which i havent done yet.
