If it's a G17 and you want to go through 3 magazines faster, remove 4 rounds from each magazine and 5 from the last, like this guy and it goes quicker.
@shaldeman11 you can get a pair of electronic ear muffs from basspro.com
Their Redhead brand is pretty decent. I bought the $70 ones and they work really well. It's nice to be able to hear what's going on around you but it also protects your ears when the gun goes off.
I saw him put his left thumb where he put it and I was like NOOOOO that's gunna hurt. Turns out he didn't or is just a badass and didn't even wince at his thumb getting torn to shreds. Sweet ass video.
he actually looks left AND right, its a scan shooters do to get em used to get rid of tunel vision that humans have when under high pressure of adrenaline, and scan left and right for other threats, or other dangers around the target you just shot.
Great to see! Some of the schools I've been to teach using your support hand to sling shot the slide forward rather than using your slide lock release with your thumb. I prefer to do it the way you do as it seems faster and why have the release lever if your not going to use it.
@Theophilus1978 90% of the time when inserting a magazine if you slam it in hard enough it bumps the slide foreward, neat trick to knock some time off your reloads as long as the firearm works that way (glock 1911 beretta) only problem is the 90% of the time part
Very nice drill! I like the breaking of the tunnel vision at the end. The only thing I would add is looking behind you, just to check the status of your team or any other threats.
I see you put your left thumb very far forward, I see lots of USPSA shooters that I shoot with doing that now. Now for open guns like 2011s they make a spot where you can rest your thumb. Can you help me understand why you and others put your left thumb so far forward?
it's a byproduct of rolling one's support hand forward to get a more aggressive wrist lock to help reduce muzzle flip. most shooters tend to keep their thumbs pointed forward, some feel it helps in indexing on target quicker
nice shooting, maybe one day I'll be as fast as you, anywho, I was wondering if you had any experience with the G17C or any "C" model of glock, thanks
Also, can you let us know what ear protection you're using? I'm getting a little tired of my EarPros and am looking for suggestions on electronic earmuff ones.
I swear I thought you were Chris Costa in the thumbnail but still glad I watched the video. It seems like not many people shoot the way you do but I have for years and can't think of any other grip that makes more sense.
Also, whatever you used to record the audio is phenomenal.
my hands are not able to get high enough on the gun for it to happen- i know some guys like Bob Vogel say if the slide is slightly cutting their hand then their grip is right. i wish i could do the same but it's not something i'm able to do
@vinnybob412 when you are about to holster they train you to look left and right before holstering as a safety method when shooting with others. we did that in the academy
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@AirsoftShizsAndGigs Yeah this style of shooting is stupid. crouched all into your arms. Too many video games and action movies got the 'firearms experts' shooting like doofuses. Innaccurate, closes your peripheral range, opens up more of your body to the attacker, increases difficulty of movement... I can't stand watching this style...
@tharealscrapz uhhhh idk if your being mean to me or something but, i do not know how to actually shoot a gun, i only know the way my dad taught me which was taught to him by police acadamy, as you can see clearly (by my name) I play airsoft lol and, im not here to correct him or anything, but if it works for you then do it, in airsoft who gives a shit right? haha!
@tharealscrapz How the hell is this a bad shooting style? It's meant for controlling recoil and nearly all shooting stances with a handgun, you're facing the target completely. This is a taught stance by people that haven't even played a video game. Don't be stupid.
reload more often, save money on ammunition. most missed shots are the ones coming immediately after a reload since one is usually in a hurry to get a shot off and doesn't take the time to reestablish a good grip.
i like to practice that as much as possible with a random amount of rounds in a magazine to make the drill harder to game
@Crazygamer154 Yeah, folks say that. But then you actually try it and realize injuries don't occur. I keep my thumbs up there on my 1911 and many other pistols I shoot. Maybe not this high, but next to the slide anyway. It's just a piece of smooth metal moving around, and you're not pressing on it, the thumbs just hover next to it, so it brushes past. The advantage is keeping the rest of your grip high and near the bore axis, so recoil causes less muzzle flip.
the gun shoots straight, any imperfections on target are shooter induced- i don't feel anything is gained by showing it except maybe boosting my ego. the goal of these videos is for me to show off the gun, not for me to show off
come to think of it, that is quite an odd grip. You're not touching the slide at all? I'm right handed, but left eye dominant so my grip is odd too. considering going lefty but i dirgress. Nice shooting
@TutMirNichts yeah I do that too. the glock 17 is a bit too unforgiving on weak wrists like mine, and my accuracy suffers as a result. I preffer a beretta. A nice heavy gun that doesnt throw casings like freakin Derek Lowe. Since I posted that comment I actually tried left handed shooting and I;m begining to think I was secretly ambidextrous and never knew it. Still like right handed bettter though
His shooting is pretty tight.......not as tight as his shirt, but still tight ;) lol had to make a comment about that. Great Vid otherwise, Glock 17 my duty pistol.
